Starting June 11 the 2015 Copa America gets under way in Chile.

Four years ago in Argentina the matches were more memorable for bad pitches than good football. The Argentina v Uruguay semi-final was entertaining but not nearly as entertaining as Brazil's hilarious penalty misses against Paraguay.

The defending champs Uruguay will be without Luis Suarez who is still serving a suspension for last year's World Cup biting incident. Unfortunately he's being replaced by a black player, Diego Rolan, from Bordeaux. Messi and Aguero are listed in the Argentine squad so I assume they are playing. James Rodriguez should be there too for Columbia.

There are three groups:
Group A - Chile, Mexico, Ecuador, Bolivia
Group B - Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Jamaica
Group C - Brazil, Venezuela, Peru, Columbia

The first match is between Chile and Ecuador on Thursday night June 11. Uruguay and Argentina play their first matches on Saturday June 13. Here is the full schedule:

Opening match - Chile 2 Ecuador 0

A stupid penalty give away by one of Ecuador's black defenders - Vidal scored from the spot. Then another defensive mistake late led to Chile's second goal nicely set up by Alexis Sanchez. Ecuador missed a really good chance to open the scoring but another one of their black players, Enner Valencia (West Ham), missed from close range. He then hit the bar with a header just before Chile's second goal. All in all an entertaining match but Chile looked vulnerable at the back and had a player sent off (Matias Fernandez who only came on in the 2nd half). Best player was Alexis Sanchez.

Meanwhile off the pitch Cavani has had to apologise for referring to the guest team from Jamaica as African:

Mexico is fielding a complete "B team," preferring to throw all its eggs in the Gold Cup tournament. This seems like part of a handshake agreement, since members of non-CONMEBOL countries are not required by FIFA to be released for tournaments outside their region. CONCACAF could have filed an age restriction on their roster to protect their local showcase. Maybe this way sounds better.

Maybe Chile will enjoy a home advantage, but this looks like Argentina's tournament to lose. Brazil does not have the star power anymore; I can't tell half their players apart.

It is odd that Jamaica got a guest invitation, probably thanks to a bribe paid by team sponsor Red Stripe beer. Japan initially turned down the second spot, preferring to rest its European players. China then turned down the same offer, having already committed to a 2015 tournament and anticipating extra burdens due to World Cup qualifying in 2016. Of course, Jamaica faces the same pressures (New York Red Bulls left back Kemar Lawrence might wind up with six games played in the middle of his MLS season). I wouldn't expect them to win a single point.

I see 4 whites and two more white looking mestizos on Bolivia when i just caught a glance from the national anthems.

Chumacero, Smedberg, Raldes, Bejarano with the two whiter looking mestizos being Moreno and Pedriel.


Surprised to say the least. Definitely supporting Bolivia over Mexico. Why do they get to be in this Tournament over the US? Is it purely the Mexican market? More of the commercialization of football. Modern Football is a disease.

Argentina's penalty was soft to say the least. It looked like Di Maria threw himself at the defender. Paraguay were really impressive in the second half.

Uruguay were lucky to win against lowly Jamaica. In the first half the teams were pretty even in terms of play. That is not a good sign for Uruguay.

Funny to see Brazil concede a goal against Peru thanks to David Luiz after only about two minutes. Luiz picking up from where he left off in the third place match against the Netherlands! Brazil eventually won 2-1 thanks to a last minute goal but they still look woeful, especially at the back.

Venezuela upset Columbia 1-0. Their goal was pretty good. It involved four players starting with a quick throw-in:

Possibly the most entertaining match I've seen this calendar year. Leaving aside some of Mexico's poor defending on crosses it was also high quality. Chile also had two goals disallowed for offside, one of which was definitely legit, whilst the other also look like it might have been fine - though they did get a soft penalty.

Making it more interesting from our perspective was that the best player, 33 year old Matia Vuoso, was also the whitest guy on the pitch - though Chilean fans might argue that Vidal played better. Vuoso is actually a naturalised Mexican from Argentina. According to his Wikipedia page he started with Diego Forlan at Independiente then moved to England to play for Man City - back when they were no good. He made ZERO appearances for City. They loaned him to a Mexican club and in the decade since then he's had a very good career in Mexico.

All the above, especially after seeing him play so well against Chile at age 33, leaves me thinking Vuoso might be another overlooked white player who could've had a career with bigger clubs in Europe instead of playing in Mexico during his prime years.

The world's fourth-ranked team deserved their success against a lethargic Brazil side - who were also unconvincing in their opening match, when they needed a late goal to edge out Peru.
Brazil went into the Colombia match with an excellent record against their opponents, winning 18 of the previous 28 matches between the teams and losing just two.


However, the Cafeteros controlled the rhythm for most of the first half and made the decisive breakthrough in the 36th minute, when defender Jeison Murillo got on the end of a loose ball and beat goalkeeper Jefferson.


Brazil squandered a great chance to level the scores in the 57th minute when poor communication between Inter Milan defender Murillo and his goalkeeper David Ospina gave Roberto Firmino the chance to level. However, the Hoffenheim player, a reported target for Liverpool and Manchester United, shot over the unguarded goal.


There was controversy after the final whistle, when Neymar and Colombia substitute Bacca were dismissed following an on-field spat - ruling both out of Sunday's final round of group matches.

I have noticed that white players' talents are generally appreciated in South America and anti-white institutional racism is rarely an issue in South American countries.


Argentina is the favourite (at least on paper) because of Messi’s fantastic season at FC Barcelona and the gauchos’ performance in the most recent World Cup – they were the best South American national team by far. Brazil have overhauled the squad…however, it’s too early to assess whether Dunga has succeeded in restoring the sense of belief among his players following the World Cup 2014 disaster. Neymar has just been hit with a two-match ban for his altercation with Carlos Bacca in the aftermath of Brazil’s 0:1 loss against Colombia, so this could hurt the canarinhos’ chances.



I will not be too surprised if a perennial dark horse such as Uruguay or Paraguay manages to win on Chilean soil (the hosts play very entertaining football, but I believe that their defense will eventually let them down)…I wanted this tournament to be Forlan’s swan song, as he almost singlehandedly won Copa America on behalf of the Uruguyans four years ago. Unfortunately, it seems as if he has called it a day on his international career.



Speaking of Bolivia, they are an interesting case in terms of demographics – their national team (consisting almost entirely of whites and mestizos) is actually whiter than the actual population of the country, which is over 50% Amerindian. The only indigenous (in terms of physical appearance, not sure about bloodlines) Bolivian footballers I can think of are Sergio Galarza and Marco Etcheverry who no longer play for the national side. They do have an Afro-Bolivian defender (Leonel Morales), who has established himself as part of the starting line-up, though.



I look forward to watching Peru vs. Venezuela tonight. Paolo Guerrero vs. Gabriel Cichero (both skilled footballers with a bit of a temper) should be one interesting faceoff.

Neymar is not very composed. There was no need for him to get the yellow never mind the red, especially as the match was over. Maybe he was upset about getting his hand stepped on earlier by Cuadrado. Dani Alves also behaved foolishly.

The Columbians were leading and trying to run out the clock, as they say in American football. They started needling the Brazilians with chippy little fouls. Dani Alves, instead of accepting the free kick and getting on with it as his team needed to score in a hurry, lost his temper and started arguing along with pushing and shoving the Columbians. Needless to say, Columbia were more than happy to waste time in these altercations. This Brazilian side, in addition to not being that talented, seem leaderless. Neymar is supposed to be that leader. He didn't set a very good example against Colombia.

if colombia are eliminated (if there is a draw) it will be a big disappointment for them
james was disapointing in their last game against peru but the most disapointing was the black cuadrado (chelsea fc)
i like peru, i'm glad that they qualified for the next round instead of one of these 3 teams

Quarter finals

Brazil beat Venezuela 2-1 with the goals of Thiago Silva (PSG) and the already mentioned Firmino.
In the end Miku, who scored the goal for Venezuela, had the occasion to equalize and qualify his team.
With Pelé protégé Neymar disqualified, the starting 11 of Brazil featured "the (former :icon_lol new Pelé" Robinho.
These are the quarter finals of the Copa America starting Wednesday:

Chile - Uruguay
Peru - Bolivia
Argentina - Colombia
Brazil - Paraguay

Neither Chile nor Peru have white teams but they played very attractive football in their QF matches. Indeed, at times they played the kind of beautiful football that Brazil sycophants claim their favourite team plays but never does.

On a side note it is kind of funny how every time a South American side is eliminated from a tournament there is always a big dispute with pushing and shoving between the teams and arguments with the referee and linesmen. They are definitely sore losers.

I'm looking forward to Argentina v Columbia on Friday then Brazil v Paraguay on Saturday. An Argentina v Brazil semi-final is what most pundits expect but I think both Argentina and Brazil are vulnerable and Brazil have already lost in this tournament.
