Mike Caputo is now Utah State's Safeties Coach. I guess Andersen is good for something.

Total BS too. Martell should be granted immediate eligibility at Miami. Fields transferred out because he couldn't beat out Fromm and my guess is he has been promised the starting job at OSU so that is why Martell left. I hope the Buckeyes have a down year.

For sure the Fields transfer waiver was as flimsy as it gets. But you could see this going through a mile away.

As mentioned above now we are waiting to see if QB Tate Martell gets a waiver after landing at, of all places, Miami.

Then there is WR McLane Mannix who transferred from Nevada to Texas Tech. As I mentioned in an earlier post Mannix has in my mind a clear cut case. He transferred due to his mom's physical challenges. If that doesn't cut the mustard for a transfer waiver folks then nothing does. If he doesn't get one then his family should sue the NCAA for malpractice.

In McLane Mannix’s first interview at TTU he was asked if he thinks he’ll be eligible immediately and he said that he is “99% sure” that he will be granted immediate eligibility. His reason is completely logical and it makes sense, would be a disgrace if he had to sit out a year. I also believe transferring to TTU will help his NFL chances, he could have a massive year with a healthy Alan Bowman and without Antoine Wesley anymore.

Army brought in a good one.

DB Kyle Terry. Fits the mold of a freakish athlete. A 45 inch vertical Terry can also really run. Killed the agility test too so one of the best pure athletes in the class of 2019 that all the power 5 schools ignored. White DBs have gone out of fashion. Lousy black DB play, now that is the in thing today.

At 6'1" 170 Terry played a lot of positions in High School including QB but at camps he played DB but I can't really say whether he will play CB or S at Army. As we know most always white players no matter how athletic get shoved over to safety.

Army is not only one of the toughest schools academically but young athletes who sign up are obviously very high character selfless individuals.

Former Texas A&M CB Jordan Peterson is now the d-coordinator for the Univ. of New Mexico. Always wonder what happened to him. He was a freshman at A&M the same year I started coming to the site (2006).

Also I have noted some intriguing transfers:

WMU QB Wyatt Rector has transferred to Free Shoes U - They haven't had a legitmate white QB in awhile so it will be interesting to see what happens with him.

Oregon QB Braxton Burmesiter has transferred to Va Tech which has been another black QB stronghold. Perhaps Fuenete is slowly removing his head from his ass.

DL Zach Vanvalkenburg has transferred to Iowa from Hillsdale College.

DL Kevin Murphy has transferred to La Tech from UCONN.

Thanks for the updates Leonardfan! VT QB Josh Jackson lost his starting spot after injury to Ryan Willis; who played so well ; prompted Jackson to tRANSFER.

Move over Kyler Murray. Updates on two players who have signed on for both football and baseball. Note all below are class of 2019. I sense both two sport stars are better at baseball than media hound Murray.

QB John Rhys Plumlee who originally signed with Georgia as a blueshirt (whatever the hell that is) has switched over to Ole Miss where he will play both sports. He has serious speed.

WR Jase Bowen wants to be the next Kirk Gibson as he will play both sports at Michigan State. Bowen just ran a 6.47 60 yard dash at a recent baseball camp. Now that is fast. Not Kirk Gibson fast but still we are looking at a 4.3-4.4 speedster who we hope will make noise this season. By the way he also can throw a baseball at 95 MPH which is faster than Murray.

As fast as Bowen is two other white players ran faster 60 yard dash times but they are strictly baseball players.

SS Connor Beichler ran a blazing 6.38 60 and is signed to Oklahoma .

OF Ethan Vecrumba ran a Kirk Gibson like 6.34 60 even after a stumble. He will play at Indiana.

White speed on display and I mean serious speed.

Below is a picture of Vecrumba with is parents on signing day. He is 6'4" 200. Holy wow. Cripes imagine him on a football field!

Good stuff Shadowlight! John Rhys Plumlee is a Swiss Army Knife...should make an impact in the SEC!

Baseball seems to be the trend these days; when they asked Mike Trout What position would you play in the NFL....Linebacker or Safety?? He said "Running Back".
Toby Gerhart was a good baseball player at Stanford....
Trey Quinn could have been a star CFer at powerhouse LSU.
Jeff Smardzija at Notre Dame has the makings of a Legit 1,000 yard per season NFL WR!
Matt Szczur (Villanova) an dynamic All-Purpose Running Back got comparisons to NFL/Eagles Michael Westbrook...wish he stayed with Football; instead of MLB/ Cubs

Jeff Francoeur was a rangy HS All American DB headed to Clemson ; but chose MLB/ Braves
Thankfully Clemson DB Tanner Muse opted for Football ; instead of Baseball

Several years back Two early 1st Round MLB pick; Outfielders Austin Meadows & Clint Frazier ran similar Blistering 60 yard times; Legit FBS-Level Skill Position Speed...but opted for MLB

Washington Nationals SS Trae Turner has some serious wheels...

Frustrating to see many white athletes opt for Baseball instead of Football these days ; Soccer; LaCrosse & Rugby are also culprits; along with HS Recruiting Services overlooking/ downgrading them to the point of almost having to become a Walk-on

It was Austin Meadows that came out the same year as CFrazier.....As a Pittsburgh guy,
I was ticked off the Pirates traded three of their top minor leaguers (Meadows and two other white athletes) for Chris Archer...
Three highly rated minor leaguers for a guy with a .500 record and a 4.5 era.....

Hornibrook is transferring away from Wisconsin. This catapults JR Jack Coan as favorite for starting gig. Though don't rule out Freshman phenom Graham Mertz.

Nice list and I am familiar with all of the above dual sport athletes except Trey Quinn. I don't recall him being a baseball prospect too. Trout of course was never really a football player or prospect and we can safely say he picked the correct sport. Ha.

Since I love baseball I don't have a big problem with those that choose baseball but only if they can make some noise at the MLB level. I agree that too many white exciting athletic football prospects who lack MLB talent waste themselves chasing an elusive baseball dream.

Someone like Francouer, who looked like a budding superstar early on, probably made the right decision. He was a top flight RF with a rifle arm and was an exciting 5 tool player. He won a gold glove in 2007! He never fully regained his form after Atlanta gave up on him way too early after one subpar year where he batted .239. He did have one terrific season with the Royals but the rest is pretty patchy. But he had a fairly solid overall career even if he never reached true star status.

The problem I have with Smardzija is he is a pitcher and obviously I would prefer to see him play WR in the NFL.

But one that really sticks in my mind is Drew Stubbs who played college baseball at Texas and was the 8th overall pick in the 2006 MLB draft. Like Francouer he started somewhat well and stole 30,40 and 30 bases from 2010-2012. A CF, Stubbs had top of the line speed. Ran like a gazelle.

In HS he was a champ sprinter and a highly regarded WR prospect. Given his size and speed he seemed like a Randy Moss type talent but he chose baseball. What dogged him throughout his entire career was his inability to make solid contact. He struck out a lot and like Francouer bounced around from team to team and just fizzled away.

The old adage says baseball is much more difficult to master than football and for a player like Stubbs who lacked the necessary nuances he would have been better off choosing football in my opinion. His natural raw athleticism would have been made to order for football.

So if I had to pick one player I regret most that got away I would choose Drew Stubbs.

While on the topic of dual athletes playing both football and baseball; I've got two more names to throw out there from late 90s and early 2000s Todd Helton and Joe Mauer. Two of my favorite MLB players growing up were also superb Football players.

*Also Michigan State has another commitment in TE/DE Adam Berghorst who will be playing Baseball for Spartans come spring. 6'7 245lbs shouldn't be hard to miss the 1st Baseman!

You jolted my memory Bucky. Helton was a hell of a QB and a true baseball star. He probably could have flipped the dice on which sport to choose. Mauer is probably a HOF catcher.

Before there was Kyler Murray there was QB Keith Smith of Arizona. He actually started off his career in the minors but after stalling there he went on to play QB at Arizona between 1996-1999 where he started and starred.

Below is an article that describes his travels and his 4.47 speed. He was 5'10" and never played in the NFL.

With Texas Tech low on RB's, the new coaching staff moved core special teams player Jax Welch from safety to running back. I don't think he ever played RB in high school but maybe he can see the field at his new position, he still has 2 years of eligibility left.

Also, TTU freshman OLB Case Gatlin had to retire due to concussion issues. It's unfortunate, Gatlin came in as a monster 6'4" 240lb LB from IMG Academy who I was very excited about for the future.

Texas Tech coach Matt Wells said in his press conference, "Every player will get to play the position they prefer. Doesn't mean they'll stay there." This is very interesting, I've never heard of a coach giving their players that kind of freedom like that. Makes me wonder if Jax Welch somehow wanted to try running back or if the coaches just thought he looked the part (5'9" 185lbs). A black high school QB who Kingsbury moved to slot receiver has chosen to move back to quarterback under Wells' freedom. I somehow don't think he will stay at QB very long.

Looks like Arkansas landed a good one in Starkel, thanks for the update LF!

Also appreciate bringing up Jax Welch, RR! I just looked him up. Native of Odessa and famed Permian Panthers. Would be cool to see him get PT as a scat back for Tech.

Will wonders ever cease? Ex Ohio State and now Miami QB Tate Martell has been granted a waiver and will be ready to go this season.

Dynamic run/pass QB. But Miami of all places. Talk about a mixed bag of nuts.

Hell if Texas Tech WR McLane Mannix doesn't get one then I don't understand anything.

Wow, surprising that Martell got his waiver, next question is will he actually win the starters job or will a magical athlete emerge.

Nice article on Mizzou’s Micah Wilson. 6’3” 215lbs former QB switching to WR due to the transfers of Kelly Bryant and Shawn Robinson. He has never played the position but the article says he is one of the fastest players on the team and is an incredible athlete. They also make it clear he’s no slot receiver and will be on the outside. Although I’ve never seen him play, it appears like they want him to be a David Sills/Dylan Cantrell/Adam Thielen type receiver.

2 DB’s to watch for next season.

Tulsa’s Bryson Powers (SO) was a key contributor for Tulsa as a freshman, he recorded 63 tackles, 4 PD, and a FF. Look for those stats to increase this year as he will likely be a full time starter. He has average size at 6’1” 195lbs.

SMU’s Trevor Denbow was an occasional starter at LB last season and he had 42 tackles, 4.5 for loss, and 1.5 sacks. He has been moved to safety this season and I assume he will likely be a starter. He’s in the mold of a Tanner Muse type safety at 6’0” 220lbs.

Former 4 Star recruit QB Jack Tuttle granted immediate eligibility after transferring from Utah to Indiana. He looks to be in a race with incumbent QB Peyton Ramsey.

Bisharat a classic example of the caste system in action. Recruited as an RB - never got a fair shot, received minimal carries and now becoming a TE. What a joke. Poor football decision for Bisharat.
Colorado senior Beau Bisharat is moving from running back to tight end.
Bisharat has been a backup running back/fullback for the past three seasons for the Buffaloes, but he'll make the move to tight end. He adds some needed depth to the position, as Colorado is light on inline players. Don't expect huge numbers, but the 6-foot-2, 225-pound Bisharat should be a quality blocker in two tight end sets for the Buffaloes in 2019.
