Christophe Lemaitre, i understand that some people want to see him to run in 100, but if his options are very weak for medal, i would prefer that he save all his energy for the 200.
Ok is not big lose energy but in 2 rounds+final 100 he could spend a little of his energy, and i think that the fight for the bronze medal will be very closed with Spearmon around 19.7
Other runners like Martina could be near too...
I think that if Bolt and Blake are healthy are the first 2 places sure.

another reason for Lemaitre to run 100m. He is now part of the 100m legend. Watch this video on Bolt. There is a long part about Lemaitre, seen as a containder for Bolt

very enjoyable doco (though it did make me late for bed - 1am).
it's good to get something of each person's personality.
Gotta feel for Asafa though - fastest man never to win a title

True...but he should run the 100 just for the learning experience against the best in the world and to possibly, maybe, break his own personal record of 9.92. He is still young and the 2016 games will be his peak. Only way to learn and get better is to do it.

Who here wants to see the same old Olympic 100m all black final?CL needs to run the 100m.There is not many who can beat CL at 100m in cool conditions.Carraz should not be ruining this kids dreams by not entering him.I do not care if CL gets a bronze medal in the 200m at the expense of not entering him in the 100m. We need a top sprinter like CL in the blue riband event. The 100m.Otherwise, the all black final will just continue and many other white kids around the world will have nothing to aspire to in the 100m if CL does not run it.It is terrible that we FINALLY have a sub 10 white 100m sprinter and they may not run the 100m? INSANE.

a friend sent me this picture from a french newspaper (l'equipe i think):

translation:
"lemaitre does weight lifting only 2 times a week, which is few, while it's necessary to increase his power
in addition to this, he says that he "doesn't like it""

It's called being an adult. I don't like to go to work all of the time but I have to in order to pay the bills. For a kid of his talent, he sure has alot of growing up to do. You cannot win at this level looking like a paper boy. I hope he starts lifting more in the near future or he may never get much faster in the next 4-6 years.

I also wanted to add the the 100 meters is Christohe's favorite event. So if that's the case then he needs to understand that the only way to get faster is to get alot stronger. His talent is incredible but his diet and strength training are below average!

I guess it is not Carraz's fault, but rather Christophe himself. He needs to get stronger, if he does - 9.80 and 19.5 would be very possible. Hopefully he will outgrow his hatred for weight training and see the real benefits. Amazing, how he can perform at this high level with such subpar level of strength. This kid has a a ridiculous amount of upside.

no diet, no (almost) weight training, no endurance and he manages to run 19.80 and 9.92.

Considering only his "raw" talent, he probably is one of the best sprinter of all time.

Let's hope he'll have this "spark" that will turn him into a "real" professional sprinter. Then, only God knows how fast he can go.

From what I've heard, it looks like what we expected. Unless Christophe and his coach change their minds very soon, he will skip the 100 meters. This is really depressing as we have never had a sprinter of his talents who has made such a decision. Borzov and Wells would never have thought to save their energy and if they did, they would not be some of the all time legends. I'm very dissapointed with this decision as he is only 22 years of age. If he were 32, then I could understand the logic. I love this kid but this decision just is horrible in my honest opinion.

So for the 100, the only guys with a slight chance of making the finals for our cause would be Sakalauskas or Gemeli. We don't even get to see Guliyev as he cannot compete do to running for a different country. The 100 just won't be as exciting as I had hoped.

Well, shoot! That kid needs to get his head screwed on straight and get a coach with the same. :yell:

Mennea did this too, but he was around 30 when decided to not try the double in Moscow. Like Lemaitre he was the defending European champion. He also never ran the 100 at a major championship. I would say only Gemeli has a good chance to final(about 50/50), Sakalauskas would have to pb to make the finals. He does have a good chance to make the semifinals though.

We have waited 32 years since the last white man in the Olympic 100m final.32 YEARS!This may well be extended to 36 years now.We have an incredible talented 22 year old SUB 10 White sprinter. The absolute best in Europe at 100m for the last 2 years.Yet, there is still the possiblity they are not running the 100m? If so, then Carraz should stop the training of this kid. He is stopping the most naturally talented sprinter from making history.I agree with the other posts on this board, the Olympics will be devalued now for me too.We have to now sit back, watch and listen to all the media BS and hype of Yoyam Blake and the public perception that it is still a black dominated event.

This is an extremely disappointing development if it stays this way. I was really hoping to see him do the double. It does appear that his coach wants him to run both, but Christophe only wants to do the 200m. Here's an interesting article:

http://www.google.com/hostednews/af...docId=CNG.d4c6dc0d0a5e002319b74b752e39abff.21

It's weird, because on the one hand, he says 200m, but then he says the conditions in Europe may not be ideal for the Americans/Jamaicans, and that he also knows how to handle the pressure, based on his performance in Helsinki. I see a lot of contradictions in these statements. Just do both, and who knows what can happen.

If only the people with a chance to win a medal should run the 100m, then let's skip all the heats and semis, and just put 4-6 guys (Bolt, Blake, Gay, Gatlin, Powell) and move straight to the final. After all, if one has no chance, then why bother running, right?

Why are all these other 100m runners even making the trip to London? :dodgy:

It is partly the fault of Carraz, because part of a trainer's job is to motivate you to do stuff you don't like and push you to your limit. If he doesn't like weight training then Carraz should be making him. If he still isn't up for it after Carraz is gone then hopefully the next trainer will push him to do more.

sure it might give him DOMS for a while but he'd over that by end of the off-season period.

Heck, a one hour weekly session keeps my strength and muscle bulk up ok and I'm, ahem, a little bit older than he is.
What would a 22 year old do with an honest two sessions. Two hours won't kill him. And he'd be primed for three next year

I reply you.
Because by example they dont have the big option like Lemaitre for to get bronze medal in 200m :icon_tongue:

Yes, good choice for Lemaitre
He will have his main focus in 200m, where he has big options for bronze medal.
Although Carraz told that if some big runners(Bolt,Blake,Powell,Gay,Gatlin,Bledman,...) are injuried before begin 100m series Lemaitre could to try finally to run 100.

But in this moment, he will run only 200.
Come on Lemaitre, bronze medal,19.7 and european record¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

i know Christophe is doing what he (and his team) thinks is best for him, but i just don't get it ... to me, this is a blown opportunity to run against the best in the world in the biggest venue in the world. opportunities like that don't come along very often, and AT BEST they only come along once every four years.

and it's not as if he's guaranteed to run in 2016. injuries happen all the time.

you can't win if you don't run, and the fastest man on the planet not from Yamaica or the USA has thrown in the white flag before the meet even starts. it's a sad day for me ... hopefully Christophe's decision will work out for him, though.
