Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80! -- Part Two

If we look at those who aren't in the stereotypical sub 10er club (i.e sub-saharan, west coast African) we have 5 (Lemaitre, Johnson, Guliyev, Gemili, Su Bingtian).
We have 4 (Woronin, Ito, Zhang, Teeters) who've run 10.00 and another 10 who've run 10.01 to 10.03.
Oh so close

Lemaitre 10.21 in Berlin. WHAO

We know why he run 10.60 in the curve.
No top speed

His reaction : Yes, the place is not good (6) but it's better than my last 100m (10s33 French championship) and close to my best time of the season ( Montreuil 10s18).

How you can say that ? 10.33 it was with -1.4, today +1.0 and just after his injury.
10.18 was in Montreuil first race of the season with +0.1.

I'm having a discussion elsewhere about Lemaitre and I'm trying to confirm how many times he's run a sub 10 100m. I'm sure of at least two, but I think it might be three. Thanks!

No, it's seven officially. The ones in 2012 and 2013 you list, as well as the 9.98 earlier this year in beating Gatlin don't count because of the wind.

You can read through this list for confirmation:

6th in Berlin. 10.21 with 1.0 wind.
Guliyeve and Gemili (and others) beat him handily, and he wasn't gaining on anyone at the end like he used to.

Lemaitre Indoor :
Mondeville 3 Febuary
Paris Bercy 7 Febuary
Metz 11 Febuary
French Championship 17-18 Febuary
No World Indoor Championship.

he's racing very often to start the season - only 4 days between each of first 3 meetings then 6 more till French championships.
Let's hope he's well rested, uninjured and gets to low 6.50s this year

Can't wait for another season of disappointing performances followed by sad excuses.

This a non major year, many guys tend to experiment with different events or doing the indoor season when they normally have a light indoor schedule. So a poor year might be not be indicative of slippage or a poor training off season.

Hah! - the excuses have started already. . . . and he hasn't even run a race yet!

I'll say he'll suddenly go back to playing soccer for Aix-les-Bains 3rd division and be an extremely fast winger ... or whatever those outside guys are :monoloco:

It's a fact, Bolt basically took of 10' and 14' and claimed niggles, Wariner in the past tried the 200 more and there are other examples.

I guess the Euros are this year so maybe Lemaitre will peak for that, but other than that it's racing for cheques on the Diamond League circuit.

Lemaitre can like this season, for him it's not a relax season because he has European Championship and for him it's very important (major chance to have a medal in contrary with WC or OG). I don't really know what we can expect of his season, and less for his indoor season. He said, "World Indoor Championship is too late" but it's his first bad excuse, 1st March it's earlier than ever and only 2 weeks after French Championship... But it's WIC so can"t expect something. Maybe if he beats his record, he will do the championship but i'm not sure.

Finally he will run 60m this weekend in Lyon (and i will run in the same competition :) )

well, "bon chance" to you both

Ahah Thank you, my level is low compared to him (we will not run in the same race :D), my record is 1 second slower in 60m:(. But i hope i will beat my record, and i hope he will too :pesas:

Very good opening season time. Not only is it a fast time foa a season opener but he won by a large margin. The
other thing I noticed is that he seems to have a longer stride similar to when he first started sprinting. Don't get me
wrong here. Lemaitre has always had a long stride but it seems longer now. I love this. Gatlin despite drugs has always
been known as a long strider despite his height. Bolt is and many other elite sprinters are. You can make up for a lack
of turnover ratio by covering more distance. Just dont' overstride but he looked great. Thanks for the video.

Viva PepeLeFlew. Viva France. Viva Lemaitre!!:)
