Ha good one Riggins. I too would like to keep the "like" function but not sure it is up for a vote. Looks like the boss man has decided against it. It does save me some time and energy from having to respond to people like 22, Jack Lambert, RTTAS, Deceptive Speed, Heretic and others here who post diligent detailed posts that help me immensely and save me time and leg work not to mention bring to my attention new and upcoming athletes. And in general it is nice to give and receive positive feedback.

Not the end of the world but a nice feature. I remember when this site seemed gone for good not once but twice, the second time the funeral arrangements were all but set but like the white athlete just when you think all hope is lost it rose from the ashes. So keeping things in perspective I am very pleased our Captain, Don, continues to navigate this boat through choppy waters.

I noticed that a fair amount of posters never used it at all. For others it seemed to be getting kind of cliquish, liking the posts of certain posters but not others. I didn't like seeing it used that way.

Despite the initial trauma, we'll get through this. If not I'll convene CF's Supreme Directorate and we'll have a three-day summit to discuss whether to bring it back or not.

I agree with Shadowlight. I always liked just being able to quickly "like" a post, just to show that positive feedback to other posters, especially for those sections that aren't posted in as much, like golf, soccer, NHL, college basketball, etc. A lot of times, the threads don't get a lot of responses. But, if it doesn't come back, it is what it is.

In terms of the "clique," I've always tried to like everybody's posts. I don't get to many NFL posters at times, since I usually am logged out when reading the NFL threads.

But, if it doesn't come back, it is what it is.

In terms of the "clique," I've always tried to like everybody's posts. I don't get to many NFL posters at times, since I usually am logged out when reading the NFL threads.

I tend to agree with Don on this. I can see there's advantages and disadvantages to both. Sometimes I would get too lazy and just "like" instead of responding with really why I liked it. Often in a hurry I would read a few that I liked, but had to leave and would forget to "like" them when I next logged in and it would snowball. If one "likes" it now, they can just respond in-kind and then perhaps add a little something to it as well. I think it actually helps further the discussion.

If I go to the home page, the new posts widget shows the comment. If I go to the new post page the, it does not show up.

Have to admit the Westside post above had me in stitches. I like to laugh. Mutiny is in the air ha. OK so which one here is going to play Fletcher Christian to Captain Bligh?
Not me (or do I protest too much?). Truthfully I can barely negotiate my way out of a grocery store so running a full fledged web site is sort of out of my league. No worries I am just having some fun with the boss man. The peasants like to chirp every once and a while.

If we didn't have the pull down feature then not having the "like" switch would be doubly troublesome. Apart from plucking the "like" switch when say La France or Celtic post a funny where I miss it most is as an example yesterday Carolina posted a fairly detailed golf preview featuring a top ten list. The "like" is a simple nod saying good job thanks for the effort. I could comment on the post and pull it down but often on posts like that they can get lost in the translation when carrying it over and people may miss it as a result.

That said I am slowly trying to get used to this change and eventually should overcome my initial consternation. Mind you this is an important international subject that effects the lives of so many people and my thoughts on the matter are essential(ly useless ha).

So with a brave face I will carry on if I must and continue to shoot my mouth off when I see fit. So with a change comes no change. Once a big mouth always a big mouth so I will continue unabated. And Don makes a good boss--(looking for brownie points here). All in jest.

Due to receiving tens of thousands of complaints via email and PMs, and scanning media reports of several posters being hospitalized with severe "Like-itis" withdrawal symptoms, I have decided to convene the summit. The time and place must remain top secret in order to deter Antifa from launching any attacks on me and other members of the Supreme Directorate.

Board members will dine on prime rib and potatoes. Several kegs of good old Budweiser will be placed in strategic locations to quench our thirst, along with a sufficient number of bottles of Jack Daniels to cure any headaches. Several scantily clad non-diverse cheerleaders who have been sworn to silence will shake their poms poms after important decisions are made when I give them the designated hand signal. If I am missing from the board for a few days you'll understand the reason for my absence.

I saw pros and cons in the like function, but decided the cons outweighed the pros. The like function was built into the new forum software when we switched to it two years ago. I tried to disable it myself but couldn't figure out how to do it so finally had the webmaster do it.

The CF boards existed for 12 years without a like function, it shouldn't be much of a transition to get used to the "old school" way again.

Mistake I think. It diminished the community feeling. It's one of Zuckerbergbook's tricks for becoming so popular.

Overcoming Minor Problems, Caste Football's Supreme
Directorate Meets, Decides Contentious 'Like' Issue​

What was supposed to be a secret summit of the Caste Football Supreme Directorate turned into a wild affair, marked by violence and national publicity, but in the end the Directorate succeeded in accomplishing its agenda.

Despite elaborate precautions being taken, the meeting time and location was leaked to hostile forces, with the result that the 50 members of Caste Football’s Iron Guard who were present for security purposes had to fend off several thousand smelly members of the Colin Kaepernick May Day Brigade, led by their self-proclaimed “general,” Cris Collinsworth.

The Brigade tried to storm the hotel where the summit was taking place; however the Iron Guard swiftly and mercilessly beat them back. When the battle ended, 856 Brigade members lay dead and 2,112 were taken to area hospitals with serious injuries. The Iron Guard counted one injured warrior, who had suffered a dislocated finger during the scrap. One overzealous Iron Guard member decided to castrate Collinsworth, who had cowered behind a telephone poll during the fray and was unscathed, only to find that there was no need.

After the fake news reporters who were on the scene were ordered to leave the area and the remains of the deceased commies were discretely removed by the pro-Caste Football local police force, several CF members emerged to promote their pet causes. Former poster Bigunreal, covered head to toe in a burka to conceal his real identity, held a sign that said “Carson Palmer Burn in Hell!” He was accompanied by poster Crazy Finn, whose placard read “Eli Manning has a punchable face and I intend to punch it!”

Poster Extra Point set up a sidewalk stand in order to peddle copies of his brand new book, “Lurkers Take Notice, Whites Are Discriminated Against.” Another author who showed up was poster Ambrose, who arrived riding a blue and pink unicorn and passed out free copies of his book, currently sitting atop The New York Times’ best-seller list, titled “Click Your Heels, Say World Peace Three Times, and There Will Be World Peace.”

A motion was made by a Supreme Directorate member to have Mr. Mayhem visit Ambrose, however it was narrowly defeated. A follow-up motion, ordering Caste Football’s staff toxicologist to investigate which medications Ambrose is currently taking and what their side effects are, passed unanimously.

Inside the tightly guarded summit, the controversial topic of reinstating “likes” on the Caste Football forum was thoroughly discussed. After stirring remarks by site founder Don Wassall, it was clear which direction sentiment was leaning.

Declared Wassall: “Do we need a laugh track to know when something is funny? Do we need to see how many ‘likes’ a post has to be able to judge whether it has merit or not? Caste Football should not stoop to the level of Facebook, which by its ‘likes’ has contributed to the ongoing infantilization of society.

“Are we not White men, and a smattering of White broads? We are intelligent, logical and discerning; it is inherent in our glorious nature to be able to judge something’s value without a popularity contest trying to sway our opinion. Post on brothers and sisters, and let’s continue to post like-free!!!”

The motion to reinstate “likes” was unanimously defeated.

Although the Iron Guard did an admirable job, there was one breach of the inner sanctum, with poster Westside successfully posing as a janitor and gaining access to view the first day of the proceedings. However, suspicion grew when Westside’s “janitor” duties were confined to cleaning the bar area over and over.

Westside’s cover was blown when he was found passed out in a broom closet and had to be rushed to the hospital, where his BAC was determined to be a remarkable .34. Security estimated that Westside had consumed nearly 40 percent of the available alcohol at the summit. After waking up, Westside was unable to remember any of what had taken place during the previous day.

“Although we will tighten our security measures for future summits of Caste Football’s Supreme Directorate, I’m pleased that for now at least those pesky ‘likes’ will no longer appear on our world-renowned site,” Wassall told these reporters before exiting in a private jet back to Pittsburgh.

I agree with you...keep on. Don was just having some fun with ya. It was a fun read and he got his point across in a unique and entertaining way.
