Hey Everyone, figures we could have a thread
on white football players who played well, even started, but weren’t “stars” who were curiously cast aside after productive seasons.

Reason for this thread is I was just watching JJ Watt highlights and saw how many plays in there Jared Crick was right behind Watt in getting to the QB. Crick was a solid player and in his season in Denver he started 15/16 games, posted 53 tackles, 3.5 sacks, 12 QB hurries and then never played again... he wasn’t a Pro Bowler but a good, solid defender. He should still be playing today.

Sticking with the Texans theme - Kevin Walter still had another year or two left but just disappeared. Same with Brian Hartline.

Probably the biggest caste screw job of the past 20 years was Peyton Hillis.

Riley Cooper for me. He played well, signed a 5 year $25 million contract, played one season got cut and never played again. He was a poor mans Jordy Nelson to me - tall, fast, and big. He averaged 14.3 yards per catch in the NFL so he was definitely a reliable deep threat.

Jersey Joe always comes to mind.

Brett Swain dropped one pass in a playoff game and was purged forever.

Ten years back Nebraska had a Safety in Matt O'Hanlon that was a ballhawk and excellent open field tackler, never got a sniff in NFL.

Leo Musso is another. Only thing he lacked was melanin and height

I remember Walter had a great performance against GB tearing up their Affletic secondary. I agree he was very good, even we don't talk about him enough..Talk about a physical specimen.

All good ones! It goes without saying Zach Zenner - how he never got another sniff after dominating GB (nearly rushed for 100yds) and generally playing very well each chance he got. Crazy

FS Matt Bowen.

Drafted in the sixth round out of Iowa in 2000, after a stellar career there, Bowen was a tremendous athlete with NFL combine 4.49 speed with a quick 4.09 shuttle. His career got off to an ok start as he played some for St. Louis that year. But then he landed in the get lost white man forest and bounced around a bit before landing in Washington in 2003. That season I remember rooting for him every step of the way as he became their starter from the get go. This was in the heart of a heavy caste NFL time and he was a breath of fresh air. But in the back of my mind I recall some push back from the media. Be that as it may Bowen finished off the season in fine form. At that time Jason Sehorn's career was about over so Matt seemed like the natural successor to the throne despite the usual media anti white bias at the time.

Then he tore his ACL the next season and that is pretty much all she wrote.

Tim Tebow, Toby Gerhart.......I still believe Tebow was and still could be an NFL level starting QB, Gerhart was and could still be a premier back in the NFL..

Matt Jones. 4 solid receiving years with the jags then never to be seen again after a positive substance abuse test

all the while the Antonio brown, josh Gordon and Joe Mixons of the world get chance after chance after chance.

Oregon States WR Mike Haas and RB Ryan Nall. Sorry, re read the title of the thread. Nall obviously hasn't ever started and I don't think Haas ever did either. However, Haas should've been a productive starting WR and we all know Nall could start for most NFL teams.

Even if not a starter, a player could be a good rotational player and be set aside as quickly as they show promise for no other reason than being white.

Ethan Kilmer was a recent guy played FS at Penn State got picked up late by the Bengals iirc and withered a few years on special before being fully relinquished.

There were also a few guys on the Giants like DE Dave Tollefsen and TE Kevin Boss(who looked like he could have been a solid 1000 yard player)

Also running back Brock Forsey and wr Eric Peterman both with the Bears.

A few FBs recently who seemed to have been thrown away too soo include Tommy Bohannon and Aaron Ripkowski.

Also CMACs brother who briefly was relegated to Practice squads before getting the boot

Funny enough the current WR coach at Buffalo is Chad Hall that guy was arguably the most exciting college FB player I have ever seen

As much as the Patriots bucked the system that did have some guys I felt they screwed over namely Ross Ventrone at FS/RB and Alex Silvestro at TE/DE both two way players and stud athletes. I guess Kraft has a pale face quota...Also RB Brian Leonard is a prime example, i fear this year the two most egregious examples are Andy Isabella and Ryan Nall and to a lesser extent Joey Alfieri who played with Blake Martinez at Stanford and was relegated to SF practice squad before getting cut this year

Jeff Janis and his 145-yard, 2-TD playoff game in 2016 against the Cardinals. After that spectacular performance he never got another chance to start.

His Packer teammate Jared Abbrederis, similar situation. Lots of potential on the rare occasions he was allowed to touch the ball, then just faded off the radar.

Forgot about Jeff Janis I remember beat fans always lamenting his "poor route runner" and small school credentials. the reddit packers page used to have running Jeff Janis jokes even up to 2019 probably still do.

Brandon Zylstra is another reciever who dominated in a small school then dominated in the CFL had good preseasons in the NFL but never got touches

I would blame McCarthy more from my understanding seemed Rodgers always had issues with his decisions. Also iirc Jordy was mentoring Jeff and Jordy got the boot by McCarthy and co to the ire of Rodgers to

Nelson was a once in a generation talent. Not saying Rogers was a villain. But I am saying a true FRANCHISE QB such as Rogers does in FACT have a friggen say in talent that he sees on the field and who he is throwing to! And Who stays on the team. Why is that so hard to come to grips with??

Relatively easy? You are so out of touch with the realities of the NFL and what public figures have to deal with in the U.S. that it's hard to believe. You're still maintaining the position of you know who that White quarterbacks have the duty to ruin their careers and reputations by publicly advocating for White players and against the Caste System.

I've been asking nicely now for ten years for posters to refrain from attacking White athletes, particularly White QBs. Is that asking so much on the only site in the world that roots for them? We support them as athletes and don't expect them to share our particular political and ideological views. You don't have the first clue what Aaron Rodgers thinks or believes or what he's experienced in life. In fact, you don't even know how to spell his name.
