It feels good to type this:

Felix Sturm crushed his opponent to retain his WBA middleweight title.

Carl Froch came from behind to stop the weaker Jermain Taylor in the 12th round to keep his WBC super middleweight belt.

What a way to finish the day

That freakin' Mr. Negative Jim Grey. It's always something with this guy. He interviewed the ref and questioned the stoppage, hinting around that the ref could have let Taylor finish the fight.

Thank God the ref stopped it. He saved Taylor from unecessary damage, and saved Froch's title from some home cooking (Taylor would have won the decision).

GREAT WIN!! Froch is definately one of the best at 168! Only the second man to stop Jermaine Taylor!

I agree with almost all of you guys. I like Taylor a lot, and think he is probably equal in boxing ability to Froch despite the match. But I had to root for Froch because these days the media can blow up one little victory for blacks as the rebound of boxing. To be honest I am not too fond of Carl Froch. Let Calzaghe be, he is undefeated and rightly regarded as a much better and classier fighter than Froch. Calzaghe is a legend, he has nothing to prove.

I watched the fight as it was quickly posted on youtube (by wiggers or some kind of Latino rooting against the "white-boy" Froch). Apparently Taylor would have won the fight if he had finished. That means that he must have been at least 3 points ahead on at least 3 judges scorecards going into the last round - Froch at least a 10-8 12th round going. I find that scoring absurd. Other than the knock-down in the third and the first round, Froch walked Taylor all over the ring. Thank God he knew to never rely on the judges.

Great weekend for us. Where's that beer mug emoticon?

I was able to find a feed with about two rounds to go. Taylor clearly hit the wall and fell apart in the 12th round. If Jim Grey was questioning that stoppage. Why stop any fights then? Taylor was about to pitch forward with any combination and would have been out for 5 minutes.

It does not matter what that idiot Jim Grey says, the referee did the right thing in stopping the fight. It's not nice to see a boxer like Taylor, or any other fighter endure such cruel punishment. Taylor deserves to fight another day, he even wants a rematch, then good. Froch wants a rematch as well, to make-up for his miraculous come from behind TKO win. Hard to imagine there are blood thirsty wiggers like Jim Grey.

Congratulations to both Froch and Taylor, for putting together a classic bout. It has a strong chance of being considered the 2009 Fight of the Year!

There was a long count on the knockdown. Taylor was down at 43 seconds and got up at 31 seconds.

The referee counted too slowly - the result should have been a KO for Froch. Here's a video of the end of the fight (the last part of the 11th and all of the 12th round):

KO or not, it's still an impressive win for Froch, the guy has an iron chin! I think he just needs to improve his defense to a certain extent. His stamina and offensive firepower is just off the charts.

Here's a video that shows rounds 10, 11, and 12 (TKO):

Froch vs. Taylor (KO!!!)

My prediction came true! well sort of. Frochy won, but not by UD, but F...ing KO!

I knew he would win though, by his outstanding stamina/endurance. I posted earlier that this would be the key. I had to work last night, so I missed it live. I checked ESPN later in the evening and what great news.

I hope Shotime replays the fight soon. Until then, I will be happy viewing Youtube. I am sleepy, so I will comment on this great victory later tonight. Cheers mates.

Excellent quality download of the full fight here on megaupload, including entrances and interviews afterwards:

Froch vs. Taylor

This is much sharper and clearer than a YouTube video! Save it to a folder, then you can play it later in Windows Media Player, RealPlayer, WinAmp, or VLC, whichever you have.

I can't believe Froch pulled it out. I had the fight very close going into the last round. Maybe had Taylor up by a a round or two. I really dislike Froch though. He was calling out Calzaghe at the end of the fight.Edited by: whiteathlete33

Froch looked good tonight.

In terms in sheer heart and punching power he looked really good.
Didn't look so good technique wise as he was getting counter punched and out jabbed wayyy too easily for a fighter on this level.

Do you think maybe they could institute a rule where Taylor can get an oxygen tank put in his corner?
I've never seen a fighter fade so badly after round six.
He faded in both Hopkins fights and in both the Pavlik fights.
I heard the commentators mention that Jermaine would like a third fight with Pavlik because he still believes he can really beat him

I like Froch alot and its great to see a real throwback fighter who overcomes every thing with sheer guts and punching power, but I really believe his style is made for a guy like Kessler.

Put Froch up there with Ademek for having a great chin. Taylor hit him with some great shots and Froch kept coming. Even the knockdown you could see Froch wasn't hurt at all. He just calmly got up and went back to work.

Definitely fight of the year candidate.Edited by: The Hock

Two judges had it 106-102 for Taylor, one had it 106-102 Froch, going into the 11th. That's seven rounds for Taylor and four for Froch, and vice versa. So with a 10-8 12th round for Froch, it would've been 114-112 for Taylor. Phew! Close one!

I agree 100%. Taylor was not nearly as impressive in the first half of the fight as everybody else seems to think. A writer on BoxingScene gave Froch only one of the first nine rounds! Ridiculous. I just read an ESPN article and it stated that ESPN.com had it 108-100 for Taylor. That's nine rounds for Taylor!

Taylor only definitively won two of the first six rounds (1 and 3.) Froch clearly won round 2, and rounds 4, 5, and 6 were all close. After that it was Froch's fight all the way.

Chris Rock says that a black fighter has to knock out a white fighter to win, that he can never get the decision. Bull-f*$%ing-sh*t!!

Exactly. I clocked it at 12 seconds, as well. But then the ref redeemed himself by stopping the fight at just the right moment. Taylor was out on his feet, no question about it. Bad count, good stoppage.

The fight was in the US that is the reason for the biased scoring. Had the fight been in England Froch would have probably been up by a point in the 12th. Boxrec has Froch landing twice as many punches as Taylor.

I had the fight up for grabs after eleven rounds. Taylor up four points? No way, especially when he's the challenger. Too many damn crooks in boxing. Right up there with politics.

True. Where is all that talk about the challenger having to 'take the belt away' from the Champion? If the judges were holding to that standard, Taylor wouldn't have been up on the cards at all.

froch has style like the boxers 100 years ago, kind of like stanley ketchel and like ketchel he is a pole, but froch is also a semite, is he the only jewish world champion?

According to the Jewish definition of a Jew, Froch is not one. His Jewish ancestry is on his father's side, while his mother is an English gentile. They have a belief that "Jewishness" must be passed on by the maternal bloodline.

But I noticed Al Bernstein was not discrediting and being negative about him last night, like he normally would to a white boxer!
