Pretty impressed with Carl. Haven't seen much to him but he knows how to adjust and boxe very well. When he chose to box the Mexican kid hardly touch him. He's managed by Barry McGuigian.

Frampton was given the split decision win over Quigg.

I am a supporter of Carl Frampton and I'm happy he won, but to be honest I thought Quigg was hard done by by that decision. Frampton controlled the very uneventful first half of the fight but in the second half of the fight, Quigg took over and landed the best shots of the fight. I wasn't scoring the fight, but it seemed like a draw to me, with the emphasis that Quigg finished the fight much stronger. In round 11, Quigg landed a right hand that seemed to put Frampton "on queer street", but the referee inexplicably halted the action. As a boxing fan, seeing stuff like that really sucks. It was at perhaps the most important moment in the fight, when Quigg had Frampton hurt and possibly could have scored a knockdown or knockout, but the ref gets in the way of the action and buys Frampton an additonal 10 or 15 seconds to recover. Quigg had a lot of momentum at that moment and I think could have dropped Frampton, but the referee gave him some extra recovery time and Quigg lost his chance. Poor refereeing IMO.

Good fight, and great effort from both guys. Think Quigg was unlucky on that decision though. Also, had he started his attacking tactics earlier in the fight he could have won cleanly.

Only caught the last few rounds. I'm impressed that Frampton came out surprisingly strong in the 12th after a near disaster in the 11th. Carl really knows his way around the ring but sometimes he just loses focus and leaves his head hanging there asking to be punched.

Other than the money F those stupid belts. Any more the value of match is in the fight itself. Both lads done themselves good and neither lost any stock.

Yes... it seems sometimes referees are paid by the promoters to help one boxer or the other in situations like that.

Carl wins!!! Carl won a hard fought fight against A tier fighter in Santa Cruz. He won by athleticism, movement and crisp hard shots. Congrats. First two weight Champion from Ireland. Both bantamweight and now featherweight. Great fight.

Great win for the Anglo-Irish fighter Frampton (his surname is Anglo-Saxon, so his bloodline ancestors were likely English who settled in Ireland).

I scouted Santa Cruz before the fight and figured Carl could outbox him if his chin held up. Close fight but Carl had a better toolbox than Santa Cruz. He is a bouncy little fireplug with skills. Very good win for him.

I've seen a lot of bashing of Frampton on Twitter saying he was gifted a decision against Santa Cruz. Haven't seen the fight yet but I wouldn't mind them running it back and Frampton leaving with no doubt victory next time. Congrats to Frampton another gifted white fighter from our generation!

Frampton cleary won the fight imo, but it was close enough that if Santa Cruz had juice with NYAC this fight could have been a majority draw or a split decision win for him. Santa Cruz tried to employ the power heavy raw style that beat Abner Mares but Frampton has better defense and more offensive variety.

Is fighting Jamel Herring for the WBO super featherweight title on 27th February. If Frampton wins he becomes a 3 weight world champion. That would cap a fine career! And would surely out him in the hall of fame.

Yeah that first fight was fun to watch. Frampton fought a great fight but that seems to have been the zenith of his career arc and he's lost some spark since then.

Haven't watched the fight so I'm not sure if Frampton declined or Herring was simply game today.
