Ok, just watched the fight. Frampton was a shell of himself when he fought Santa Cruz. Herring was a sportsman. He had Frampton out on his legs but refrained from KHTFO. Kudos to Herring for letting the ref save Frampton from being KO'd. He seems like the black fighters from the 6s. True sportsman.
I missed this one but I saw this coming. Frampton hasn't been the same since his rematch with Santa Cruz. Frampton peaked after the first Santa Cruz fight and seemed to lose some of the dynamic speed and agility he needed to beat naturally longer men then him at even 122 and 126 and now 130.
Historically lower weight class fighters used to peak out and fade in the late 20's because of their need of speed and their bodies not be able make the tight weight classes, jockeys in horse racing have the same issues with weight cutting in a similar age range.
Herring while older than Frampton is quite tall for a 130 pounder and from the highlights I saw looked like a Sandy Saddler clone, he will try to unify the belts at 130. Frampton while having a strong Irish accent does commentary work on English television and will probably do this full time now.
