Cam Newton Vs. Tim Tebow

Yesterday, Cam Newton appeared in front of a controlled group in a "workout" that was clearly designed to raise his draft stock. It was obvious that, unless he collapsed at some point, this brilliant strategy would work.

Trent Dilfer went on a disgustingly gay orgasmic rant afterwards, seemingly calling Newton the greatest afflete of all time. Even his fellow jock sniffers at ESPN chuckled about it and described it as a "slobberfest." Dilfer appears to be working hard to earn the title of most anti-white "journalist." Considering the other jock sniffers at ESPN, that would be some kind of accomplishment.

Today, I caught the odious Mel Kuiper on t.v., and he continued the overt lobbying for Newton, with the chosen mantra that his "stock is rising." In a matter of a few weeks, the media has managed to lift Newton's draft stock to the point where he is a serious candidate to be taken first overall. Btw, they showed a few clips of Newton's "workout." While Dilfer and other gay jock sniffers may think he "looked good in shorts," I thought he appeared stiff and unnatural. On one of the few passes they showed, he threw behind a receiver from about fifteen yards. Yet Dilfer maintained his accuracy was out of this world.

Compare and contrast this royal, positive treatment to what Tim Tebow endured a year ago. In reality, Newton and Tebow should be considered very similiar players. Both were unconventional QBs in college, running a lot, for successful teams. The difference is Tebow was far more successful, for a longer period of time, than Newton. Also, while Tebow was a chaste religious young man without a blemish on his record, Newton has more red flags than almost any QB in NCAA history. Saying he has "character flaws" doesn't quite do justice to Newton's track record of misdeeds.

Not only has Newton's "reverend" father been attempting to extort large sums of money from colleges for his son's services, Newton has shown he can't behave in a civil manner on his own. He was caught cheating on exams at least twice at Florida. He either directly stole another student's laptop, or bought one, depending on which story you choose to believe. And public reports reveal that he had at least 11 moving traffic violations in one year. When you couple that with the eternally smug look on his face, and his cocky manner of speaking, then you have an obviously arrogant and spoiled young man with an already dark history of transgressions.

So....why did the soft spoken choir boy receive such negative treatment before the draft last season, while the very similar in style troubled thug has been given nothing but praise? Why was it considered a huge "reach" by Denver when they took Tebow near the end of the first round, but Newton is now said to be an easy top 5 pick? Exactly what is the difference between the two, that explains this double standard?

To anyone who has followed sports over the past month, there has been a clear campaign to boost Newton's draft stock. It is a concerted effort, and it has already paid dividends. At the same time, once again we see white QBs being diminished, Jake Locker being first and foremost in this regard. How does the consensus #1 overall draft pick last season slide to the point where he may be this year's Jimmy Clausen? Let that be a lesson to any other white player who opts not to enter the NFL draft early. The same Caste hounds who are ensuring Newton will make millions more than he should because of their unearned promotional efforts, are costing Locker millions due to their unrelenting smear campaign against him.

We've seen this happen nearly every year now for well over a decade. The one year wonder black QB (Akili Smith) or even one game wonder (Jamarcus Russell) elevated to the top of the draft for no logical reason, while at least one unfortunate white QB "slides" precipitously on draft day. Brady Quinn. Aaron Rodgers. Jimmy Clausen. The list goes on, but it's always a white guy. Considering that the vast majority of players drafted are black, it's an incredible coincidence that only whites fall into this "sliding" category. Kind of like how white players somehow dominate those "most overrated" and "biggest busts" lists.

I'm really hoping more and more that the greedy owners and deluded players can't work out their differences. It would be poetic justice to see this whole corrupt "sport" suffer a huge blow to its popularity and loss of its profits.

bigunreal,

We've brought up some of those points in the college football sections, and also in the "Why are most QBs White" thread in this NFL section.

I agree with your assertion of Newton being "stiff".. He just has some size, that's all, but I've never considered him an "athletic freak."

Like people here said about "J Russell" -- "that college kids (or student-affletes) had a hard time tackling/sacking him".. the same can be said about Newton. One thing is certain, the NFL will be unforgiving to Newton!! He'll wish he was back in the "vaunted SEC"....

If the raw as sushi Radio was able to go 3rd overall than seeing Newton going in that range or better won't surprise me. Yes unless a White QB has a future Peyton Manning tag it looks like he can never go number 1 again or really be near number 1. I have never understood controlled workouts anyway. How often does a qb have a totally wide open receiver without a rush pressuring him....

My bet is that wheneverNewton goes, he'll be taken by a team that has a losing record more often than a winning one over the past 20 years. Highly touted black QBs ought to be the object of jokes and ridicule considering how many have been outright busts and none have panned out close to the expectations surrounding them since McNabb.

Whenever Newton and Tebow are compared EVERY analyst is in agreement that Newton is "more athletic" then Tebow which is BS. The only thing in the combine Newton could beat Tebow is in the 40. It will be interesting to see how their combines compare if Newton even dares to workout for the combine. There was a reason that Newton was NEVER going to take Tebow's starting job away from him at Florida, it's because anyone unbiased (like Meyer) can see that Tebow is the superior athlete and QB.

Tim Tebow put up outstanding numbers across the board at the combine. In fact, it played a big role in him being drafted as high as he was. Although, to anyone who saw him play at Florida he was probably the second best all-around athlete on Florida's offense (behind Harvin), it baffled me why anyone was surprised when he dominated the combine.<div>
</div><div>Tebow is an elite talent. Think Culpepper pre-knee injury, with better accuracy and far better leadership skills. He is big, strong and a great running threat.</div>

The slobbering and orgy directed towards Cam Newton by the usual suspects (draft "experts" and other "analysts") is not a surprise at all. These are the exact same people who were ripping Tim Tebow last year for not being good enough to play QB in the NFL. We all know about the double standard, so the push to make Newton a very high pick was very predictable.

What pi$$es me off is what's taking place in Denver. What's up with John Elway and all his wishy-washy, non-committal comments towards Tebow? If Tebow were black, Elway would no doubt be singing his praises and would've handed the franchise keys to him the moment he was named the Executive VP of football operations. Instead, it almost seems as if he wants to derail Tebow's career before it even starts.

Why is a White man, a HOF QB, doing this to another fellow White QB who has all the tools and potential to be a great QB one-day? Did Elway take a caste pill the moment he got the job? I'm very puzzled by his apparent lack of confidence and support of Tebow.

As we all saw, Tebow had an excellent audition in the last 3 games of the season to prove that yes, he can play QB in the NFL. With that silly debate put to rest, the question now is how good can he be? Solid starter, eventual SB winner, future HOF'er? The only way to find out is for the franchise to get 100% behind him and see how it all plays out. But so far, I'm very disappointed by Elway's actions.

I think Elway is just giving lip-service to the media, GM and such...<div>You "have" to be pro-black athlete nowadays to gain any respect. I don't doubt that the closer to training camp opening, we will hear how Tebow has been excellent in his off-season training and has command of the leadership of the team. It's who he is.</div><div>
</div><div>I think, and hope, that Elway is just appeasing the pro-caste media right now.</div>

Good observations. Most of these Great Black Hopes like Newton wind up either on a perennial loser like Detroit or in some other renown urban NFL city like Oakland or Washington. And why not Philly? Yeah, Philly - why not? Isn't it obvious they've already committed to the QB caste system since Randall Cunningham?

Consider this: Vick may be considered a "Franchise" player, but who doesn't expect dawg to screw up during the next couple of years - especially once he gobbles another huge contract?

The NFL PTB keep foolishly rolling the dice on the next supposed "superstar" black QB, hoping to ignore the obvious. Without character at the QB position, there can be no "leader."

Newton's lack of character and selfishness for in his personal life are a huge negative from from the get-go - his skill level is irrelevant. THAT is noticed by other players; they sense it. Raw talent does NOT equal respect in the huddle.

OTOH you have Tebow who oozes sacrifice, honor, and duty to others. THE definition of "leader." And he does indeed possess the skill level, size &amp; speed, and immense football smarts. The intangible: Teammates know Tebow has their back and will do anything it takes to win. So what's the problem?? And how many millions is that worth?

It boggles the mind.

How is another Thug Athlete with the ethics of a snake and commitment-to-self going to "lead" any team anywhere?? Newton will wind up making Atlanta Falcon Vick seem like a choir boy.

Tebow is considered a "reach" because he's another slow, lumbering "white boy" who's supposed to be intimidated by a league of Ray Lewis's.

What kills me is that on most of the caste-plagued teams a guy like Newton probably would get a lot harder play out of the resident affletes than a man like Tebow, with his clean-cut, well... very white reputation. Like when the affletes on Philly played so much harder when Vick was in the huddle.

Tebow is a natural leader of MEN. Sometimes leading a group of affletes is more like herding cats. Would love to see what Tebow would be capable of on a more white friendly team, almost scary to think about.

This thread is referring to the private workout Newton held for the media only"¦which had nothing to do Auburn's Pro-Day, held many weeks later.

By the way, that's the incorrect usage of the word "their," which makes you sound "really stupid."

If the PTB are saying that it's bad for Tim Tebow "to bring the college game (style) to the NFL".. "that it lowers the NFL-product!"

then why isn't "it bad" for Tyrod Taylor, Kaepernick, Cam Newton and LaTerrelle Pryor?! The enemy can't properly counter this argument, as none of the above bruthas have "dead-eye accuracy".. or anything exceptional to offer the NFL.

What about size, speed, athleticism, and cannon arms? THEY OFFER THOSE SKILLS...a la TIM TEBOW. You guys were saying TT's accuracy could be improved during last year's draft. Why not the same for these guys? Don't use the "lack of intellect" argument, because your setting yourself up for the black superior physical talent argument if you do.

Are you for real here AJ? I will answer this, there is nothing stopping him from improving but himself. Look at the track record of Tebow Vs. Newton. They were on the same team if you recall, Cam could not beat out Tim then. What suddenly makes him superior now? Newton will not improve because he believes the hype. He thinks that he is already good enough to play the NFL game. He is not. Tebow knew that he was not ready to be a pocket passer. Look at the difference in coverage from Tebow last year to Newton this year. Do you really think that Newton has done anything that Tebow did not?

i think "JaMarcus" will become code for "over-hyped black qb" eventually. any time i hear a friend/draft guru drooling over a black "specimen" at the qb position i say, "JaMarcus 2.0" conversation over. haha.

i have no doubt "JaMarcus" Newton will fail. this guy has the same cocky attitude that Russell had. he won't study defenses or read playbooks bc he doesn't think he has to. in his mind, he's God's gift to the NFL.

Newton is everything Tebow isn't; arrogant, cocky and overrated. The msm is doing everything in its power to force Carolina to pick Newton #1 overall, despite the lunacy of doing such a thing. I think it's almost a certainty now that he will be the first overall pick.

Tptb have a great deal invested in this odious punk, and he is the first afflete I've seen that may very well rival Mike/Michael Vick in terms of being an overrated media darling.

</span>Hey guys, I've been checking out the forums for the past two years. I have to say I agree with alot of what I see on here. There is indeed reverse discrimination in football, growing up among great athletes both black and white I know for a fact that white males can contribute and star at positions like wide reciever and running back.<div> </span></div><div></span> </span>I have to disagree with you all on this point. The problem with Tebow coming out is he comes from a very QB friendly spread-option system which in know way resembles an NFL playbook. Cam Newton also faces the same issue as the Auburn offense was very much set up for him to make a quick read and run. However, as prospects they are on completely different levels. Coming out Tebow had quite possibly one of the most elongated throwing deliveries. His mechanical errors caused quite a stir to whether he would be a star in the league. He also tended to throw "ducks" quite often also while at Florida. Character issues aside (And lets be honest teams care way less than they should on indiscrections like Newtons), Newton has a much more compact and NFL-ready arm. His release is crisp, and while he has some accuracies issues they appear to be due more to poor footwork. In my and probably most GM's opinion, Newton is a better pro-ready prospect.</div>

So you've been (allegedly) reading CasteFootball for 2 long years, yet your first official post is against Tim Tebow and in favor of Cam Newton? A humorous, transparent lie, indeed.

It's interesting that none of the NFL draft "experts"Â￾ found that Byron Leftwich (7th overall pick in 2003) had a "slow delivery"Â￾ during his days at Marshall. None of them thought that Michael Vick (1st overall pick in 2001) experienced "mechanical errors"Â￾ at Virginia Tech. None of them thought that Josh Freeman (17th overall pick in 2009) threw "ducks"Â￾ at Kansas State. I suppose the difference in what draft "experts"Â￾ are able to criticize is merely skin deep.
