As long as this guy is the man in Jacksonville, Matt Jones can forget it. Bustville, here we come.

I agree. Leftwich clearly can't move around so he isassumed to be a "pocket quarterback," but he's not a very good passer. Not accurate, has a very long and fundamentally unsound delivery throwing the ball, has never had more than 15 TD passes in a season, rarely completes deep throws even to wide open receivers. A white QB would have been given the Joey Harrington/Tim Couch bust treatment by now.

"Lord Byron" threw to Matt Jones twice in the first half. The first pass sailed well over the head of a leaping 6' 6" Jones; the second one bounced in the turf in front of Jones. Pathetic.

Jones did have a nice catch and run in the third quarter thrown by David Garrard, but the erratic Garrard makes Leftwich look good by comparison.

Leftwich is such a joke, the guy is a statue, has no touches on his passes, has been a starter in the league going on 5 years, cant stay healthy and has never produced much of anything or given any indication that he will ever be anything more than an average backup and yet he is still praised and is still "developing".

Yet if you compare 2 white quarterbacks who were drafted areound the same time (Kyle Boller and David Carr) who have produced similar numbers, they are both busts and bums who are lucky to be in the league but Leftwich gets a pass. Boller may not even have a team after camp.

Leftwich: years (5) pct 58.7, yds 9042, td 51, int 38 rtng 80.5

Kyle Boller: years (5) pct 55.8, yds 6105, td 36, int 34
rtng 71

David Carr: years (6) pct 60.0, yds 13391, td 51, int 65
rtng 75.5

David Carr played for a horrible Texans team with no offensive line and not much in the way of defense for six years and still managed to survive and at times play very well. Kyle Boller was given exactly 1 and a half years shot at being the undisputed starter before being constantly jerked around and replaced by equally ineffective Anthony Wright and eventually caste system favorite Steve McNair. What p_sses me off the most is that even though those two played poorly, it was basically nothing for the caste system proponents to basically cast them off and Leftwich is going on 5 seasons as a starter (and still in in the learning phase according to the talking heads), has had good protection, a solid team around him and even when outplayed by his backups has had the vote of confidence from the Jags. Caste system at its finest. How many years do black QB's who play poorly get to develope 10, 20? Is their whole career a developing process? What about a guy like Rex Grossman who has had basically one year on the field to prove who he is, has accumlated almost half as many yards and touchdowns as lord Byron and yet to hear tell it everytime he walks on the field could be his last. It is ridiculous and makes me frikken angry. Edited by: Bear Backer

Good stats Bear Backer but you need to add games played in, not just years in the league. I don't know for sure but I'd guess that Boller spent way less time in the game than either Leftwich or Carr, which is one possible reason his yardage may be so much lower. Of course the QB rating factors in games played, so that stat is an adequate measuring stick to compare the treatment received by each of these guys. I'm going to bring this up at my next talk at the proverbial 'water cooler.'

Numbers are not important when talking about well liked black quarterbacks. Leftwich will be the starter for years regardless of results.

I use the numbers to explain the caste system to non-believers.

Jack Del Rio is just reaping what he sowed out of his team's QB position. If he wants to get these overrated QBs then that's fine his team will always just be a pretender. I just feel sorry for Matt Jones becuase he'll never have a quality QB to throw passes his way.

Actually, I think it's good to have him in the league. He exposes the falsehood that all black QBs are "fast" or "athletic". The NFL needs more of his kind. the positive racial stereotypes in the NFL would crumble pretty fast.

Looks like he's not the man in Jacksonville anymore.

Of course, the odds are good that he'll be the starter on some other team next year. Culpepper might be the starter in Oakland. You can't keep a crappy black quarterback down.

Leftwich has always been over-rated as a passer, but this sudden move to Garrard smacks of desperation. Hopefully it marks thebeginning of theunraveling of the management regime responsible for the blackest team in NFL history.

Matt Jones might as well get a book or something like that, because we all know that Gerrard will lock on one of his black buddies, Williams probably and force passes to him all day long.

I hope you are right. I have been waiting for a least a small glimmer of hope for a return to a little bit of good news. I can't stand Garrard however. I will never forget the way he ran his mouth when he first came to the Jags camp against Mark Brunell. He even turned the black loving media against him at least for a little while. And he is not that good. Of course neither was Leftwich but I still am surprised at this strange turn of events.

Seems the Jags are likely to trade of cut Leftwich. Does this open up a possible roster spot for third QB who could be white?

I think we all know the answer to that question, haha. God*damn I hate the Jags so very much. They would be fools not to pick up Jared Zambranski or some other QB who is actually competent as has potential.

I wonder where he'll end up? I bet Joe Gibbs picks him up.

The third string Jaguars QB will not be white, he will be black also. It is the Jaguars' message to the world that whites do not even deserve to be a third string bench jockey with no likelihood of game minutes. Their black offensive line is a similar jab.

Atlanta isn't interested in Leftwich, they might pursue Andrew Walter or Chris Simms though. and i thought the saying went once you go black...

He'll probably be a starter next year on some other team. Isn't that how NFL football works?

I noticed in the USA transaction section that Leftwich was released. good riddance but you know he will show up somewhere else and become that teams new saviour.

My guess would be the Vikings. Tavaris Jackson is terrible and they could use a game manager like him that won't lose games for their team
