May be a little pre-mature, but let's go ahead and give Witt his own thread.
Witt has really been coming on the last month or two. Last night he hit his league leading 8th triple. He hit his 26th HR a few days ago and has 37 stolen bases.
He will more than likely get to 30 home runs which will put in in rare company as a 30 HR/30 SB member and he should get to the 30/40 club as he only needs 3 more stolen bases to get to 40.
Current BA. has risen to .280 which has greatly improved as he was around .230-.240 for most of the first half of the season.
His SLG. is now over .500 as well. At .508.
If he can get that OBP up, he will become a complete hitter.

Think of how good he can be on a team that has a little more protection around him. It's tough to go to the plate every at-bat and think that the fate of the game relies on your every swing. Royals are BAD.

Bobby Witt Jr. is the first player in MLB history to hit 20 homeruns and steal 30 bases in each of his first two seasons!
He had the day off today.
He currently has 28 homeruns and 39 stolen bases. He should easily become the rare 30/30 player soon.
Mike Trout kind of was the first, but I guess they counted his first year where he played only 40 games and official season.
Trout went 30/49 and 27/33 in his first two full seasons.

Witt Jr up to 29 homers and 46 steals. A 30/50 season is well in reach.

Simply a young stud. Can do a little of everything. It's great to see some really exciting young baseball players
on the diamond. The guys we know and love will move on and guys like Witt Jr are the next generation of all star
players to take over! What a season the kid has had! :beer-toast1:

Witt Jr. becomes the first KC Royal to record a 30 homer, 30 stolen base season. With his 49 steals, he becomes just the fifth player in MLB history to have 30 plus home runs and 49 or more stolen bases. Witt Jr. is just the second player with 30 home runs and 49 steals at age 23 or younger. Mike Trout did it age 20.

Bobby Witt Jr. starting the season HOT! He's 3-3 today with a HR and a Triple. He's a double away from the cycle. AVG is .667 through the first 3 games! OBP .727 and SLG 1.556.
The only knock on Witt jr. is his OBP. Looks like he's working on that.
I hope he doesn't become to the Royals what Trout is to the Angels as the Royals are not that good right now.

It's nice that the Royals seem to have put together a decent team around Witt this season, especially pitching.

Another big game for Witt Jr. 3-5, 2 HR's, 4 RBI, 3 hits and 2 runs scored. He's hitting .319 with a .565 SLG. and is leading the league in hits and runs. I believe he's second in WAR. He has a good chance to win his first MVP.

Witt Jr. is leading the league in Runs, 59, Hits, 93 and BA: .330. having a solid year. Could be in the MVP running, however the Yankees Aaron Judge is playing weel too and is leading the league in WAR along with the Orioles Gunnar Henderson. the AL MVP will probably come down to one of these 3 players
AL War Leaders:
Henderson-5.0- Second in the league in HR's-21
Judge-5.0
Witt Jr. 4.0

BTW, the Astros Kyle Tucker has been on the injured list for about a week. Was leading or tied for the AL in HR's before his injury.

Great post. Judge will most likely win, but he is 32 years old.

Henderson, Witt Jr, and Tucker are 22, 24, and 27 respectively. They have many more years to win.

Solid run continues as he was a single short of the cycle.

Bobby Witt Jr. on this homestand: 12-for-15, 7 R, 2 2B, 1 3B, 2 HR, 6 RBI, 1 BB, 1 HBP He's recorded four consecutive three-hit games & reached base in 14 of his 17 plate appearances.

Witt jr. with another huge night going 4-5, 2 runs, 4 RBI including a Grand Slam! He's now second in MLB WAR at 6.7. He has passed Baltimore's Gunnar Henderson, 6.4 WAR. I would say Witt Jr. is in the MVP race, but the Yankees Aaron Judge is having a career year with 39 HR's and 99 RBI already. Barring an injury, he will more than likely win the MVP. He also is in first place WAR at 7.4.
If Witt, 19 HR's, can find a little more power, he could be Mike Trout like over the next 8-10 years!
Witt Jr. is leading the league in Hits 148 and BA. .347.
Shohei Ohtani 32 HR's, .314 BA, ....404 OBP, .639 SLG., 1.043 OPS 260 TB 82 R, all leading the league is a cinch for the NL MVP!
I don't think anyone is even close!
Although Bryce Harper and Freddie Freeman are having All Star years, they won't pass Ohtani unless he goes into a major slump or is injured.

Bobby Witt Jr. homered, (27) and had a stolen base, (27) this afternoon as a part of a doubleheader. It looks as though he'll make the 30/30 club for the second year in a row.
Something a little more amazing is the fact that he may do something that hasn't been accomplished in MLB for 88 years. Witt Jr. is currently on pace to score 141 runs and get 227 hits. If he does that, he'll be the first player to get 140 runs and 220 hits in a single season in 88 years!
The last player to accomplish that feat was Detroit's Charlie Gehringer when in 1936 he had 227 hits and 144 runs.
If not for Aaron Judges' huge season Witt Jr. would be the AL MVP as he leads the league in Runs, Hits, and BA. At just 24 years old, he has several years to win the MVP.

Witt Jr. Hits a grand slam and collects his 200th hit on the season. Also stole his 29th base. Needs one more to make the 30/30 club again.
Witt Jr. has 122 R. 200 H, 43 D, 11 T, 32 HR's, 108 RBI, 29 SB. BA. .333 and 361 TB.
Pretty good stat line with 2 weeks to go.
Witt will most likely finish second in the MVP race to Aaron Judge.

This would be an MVP season and stat line in 99% of seasons. Heck, if you put him in the NL this year I’d say he’s more deserving than Ohtani. This young man is a star and is just getting started. If KC can add more quality around him, that will help too. Right now he has very little protection compared to Judge, Ohtani, Betts, etc.

actually KC has a pretty good lineup when healthy and has a great chance to a WC team. Salvy, VInny, Frazier provide good protection for Witt so he will see something to hit the majority of the time. Royals are a fun team to watch. Their bullpen may keep them out of postseason success.

WW, I stand corrected. You are right as they have the 8th most runs scored this year. They must have improved in that regard as the season has progressed.

For the record, the Dodgers and Yankees are 2 & 3 in runs so my example guys still have a better supporting case. But hey, there is always room for improvement and KC is on the rise.

Of course Vinny Pasquantino is out with a broken thumb so that has really caused the Royals problems scoring runs the last couple of weeks. Also the bullpen is a bit beat up. Not often does a team have a grand slam and still lose the game (96% win rate).

Bobby Witt Jr. becomes the first shortstop in MLB history with two 30-30 seasons. For the second year in a row Witt jr. has hit 30 HR's and stolen 30 bases. Witt Jr. was walked in the first inning and wasted no time in stealing his 30th base to go with his 32 HR's!
Looking forward to watching this young man for years to come.
