Matt Miller of Bleacher Report is one of the analysts that shows bias toward white players. When Luke Kuechly came out, one of the greatest linebackers of all time, Miller said he was a 3rd rounder "on a good day." Not surprisingly he portrayed this elite athlete as unathletic. Miller scouts by race in many of his reports.
Ball State's Danny Pinter is an offensive lineman who was taken at the top of the 5th round by the Colts in this year's draft (2020). Colt's GM Chris Ballard said they were trying to trade up to take Pinter when he fell to them. Obviously Ballard and the Colts' scouts had a high opinion of Pinter.
Miller, on the other hand, doesn't. In his 4-25-20 scouting report of Pinter he says that Pinter "could stick around on a practice squad" and "might be two or three years away from carving out a role as a swing interior player." A ridiculous analysis, exaggerated in a bad way.
So who's right? A GM and scouting staff who put together one of the best offensive lines in the NFL? Or an internet scout with a history of bias against white players?
