What's the story or inspiration behind your avatar? Mine is Jeff Janis making that Hail Mary catch against the Cardinals. One of the greatest Caste-busting moments in the modern NFL, in my opinion. Sad that Janis never caught on as a featured receiver after that. He had the talent.

Leonard and Mike Hass were the two athletes that I credit with being the straws that broke the camels back for me in terms of being fed up with White athletes getting discriminated. Around the same time they were playing in college is when I stumbled across this site.

I don’t have any cool avatar story as I change mine from time to time. I’ve had Harrison Smith for awhile so maybe I’ll switch it soon to another deserving White athlete….

But I emboldened Mike Hass as he was a critical piece of my awakening. In fall of 2007, I had a roommate who was a member of CF (sadly he doesn’t post here anymore). At the time, I was just a DWF of the Giants. I always had a soft spot for White athletes but I believed the line that sports was a meritocracy and the “best players played”. We started talking sports one day and he asked me who the best receiver in college football was last year. I didn’t follow college at the time, but I was a big NFL junkie and Calvin Johnson had just been selected as a top 5 pick, so naturally I said him. The roommate responded Mike Hass, the Biletnikoff Award winner. I had never heard of Hass, which seemed absurd to me. He told me he was picked in the 6th round due to the Caste System in sports and told me about this wonderful forum. I lurked for almost a year and had to swallow a lot of red pills along the way but the rest is history.

There are plenty of 'based' old baseball players to choose from; I went with Chicago White Stockings legend Cap Anson for my avatar. Modern baseball virtually ignores its founding superstars, in part because there's no TV footage, but also because they almost all held publicized "toxic views." Baseball cards were my gateway into sports fandom back in the 80's. I loved studying the statistics on the back, even though they didn't mean anything practical to me at that age. The abbreviations and acronyms were like a secret code. From there, I started reading the sports section of the newspaper and tracking the local players in the 'league leaders' columns. Just a fun pastime from a bygone era, as I don't know anyone younger than about 60 who subscribes to a newspaper these days. So anyway, I picked a baseball card of the meanest and most dastardly racist I could find.

My avatar is of Confederate Generals Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson praying with two children. Both Generals were Christian men. Jackson was General Lee's right-hand man so to speak. When Jackson was killed, it dealt a heavy blow to the Confederacy. Both are considered two of the most gifted tactical commanders in US History. The Confederacy had the more superior commanders and better soldiers while the Union had more troops, more access to weapons, money and ports. Along with the backing of France. The will of the South was extraordinary, but it was losing battle just on sheer numbers. It's a wonder The Civil War lasted four years.
BTW, North Carolina had the highest number of military deaths from the Civil War. Estimated at 31,000.

All Great Avatars guys. I enjoy reading the stories of why you picked your avatar.

Mine used to be of Christophe Lemaitre who was the first white sprinter to ever run the 100 meters in under 10 seconds. He had a lifetime best of 9.92 and he ran for France.

I currently have the long awaited Amercian Future Superstar of Sprinting in Matthew Boling. In my life time the only other white sprinters that made any fame with the USA Team were Kevin Little and later on Jeremy Wariner. Matthew Boling is already equal or better than both of them as a 21 year old junior in college this year. He won the NCAA Mens
Indoor 200 Meters National Championship last April. The kid will go under 10 seconds in the 100 and under 20 seconds in the 200. He is already almost there with his best years ahead of him. If Boling can go on to win some Olympic Medals in the sprints it could help change perceptions about white sprinters in America. He is gonna be a PHENOM!
