Black players who crush it in preseason get every chance in the world at playing time in the regular season. Just look at the case of Russell Wilson "3rd round pick" who came in after the high payroll signing of Matt Flynn. Or look at Colin Kaepernick who crushed it in preseason and questionably takes over from Alex Smith when Alex gets hurt for ONE game. Kaepernick keeps the job. Last year a 6th round pick, Alfred Morris, gets a shot to start after a big preseason and unseats a pretty good back in Roy Helu. Or look at the case of Victor Cruz an undrafted WR, who dominated in his first preseason, gets hurt at the end and still gets a chance to star a year later.
White players who crush it in preseason occasionally get cut right away. Even superstar Welker, who went undrafted after a record tying FBS career- was cut by his first NFL team (San Diego) after looking fabulous in preseason. Danny Amendola was cut by the Cowboys after looking great in the preseason. Danny Woodhead, had the most rushing yards in a preseason game in 2010 since Mike Anderson in the mid 90s. He makes the Jets final roster, gets little playing time, then gets cut to bring back popular locker room player Jehu Caulcrick (or was it John Connor?) very early in the season. Nate Euchas, who had a dominant career at FCS Colgate and looks good on film as a powerback, was 3rd in the preseason in rushing last year. He was kept on the final roster, riding pine, for a year, and then gets cut before his 2nd year. Ryan Spadola, who absolutely dominated in his junior year at Lehigh and ran an average 40 time for a STARTING OUTSIDE WR (again 3rd at his position, in receiving this preseason) has already been cut by the Jets. He was the story of the preseason for the Jets, after his 70 yard catch- to set up the win- in the intercity game against the Giants.
Of course some teams screw white players out of auditions completely. IE. Raiders: Connor Vernon, although he was rookie MVP of OTAs, according to his coach, and reportedly had a good training camp- he had under 2 mins playing time in the final preseason game after 7 mins at best in the 3rd game (Vernon's possibly a taller, but slightly poorer version of Welker). Vernon is the ACC's all time receptions leader. Sam McGuffie, played 1:40 minutes all preseason- (best case scenario he's a Randall Cobb or Percy Harvin type), near record 4.28 40, 3.8 short shuttle ( http://instagram.com/p/V2oiryqxm_/# ) and more receiving yards- as a 1st year raw WR- than some WRs had in their 3rd or 4th years at the position invited to the combine. I only saw one play of action for Div. II record setting tailback Jordan Roberts from Charleston for the Chiefs all preseason. And yes it was at fullback! I mean why did they even sign the guy. How has this league not been successfully sued yet?
