Ive noticed that on NFL videos theres a serious amount of highlights of players such as kevin walter, zach miller, (plenty of long catches by him) wes welker, and other white guys. These highlight clips are ours for the taking. We can download them right there. These clips will however be gone next season so they should be downloaded before NFL takes them out.

Ive started to do it with welkers clips:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qa_ak3hZ7Qs

However if we join all those small Kevin Walter or Zach Miller clips together, wed have a decent highlight tape, instead of seperate videos of their good plays from each week.

So my question is does anyone know how to put vids together, perhaps with music, maybe a few messages etc?
Im a complete deadbeat when it comes to computers, but if noone here can help me i guess ill just have teach myself.

I think a good tape on youtube will increase fans awareness of white players and create some interest in our cause.

Edit: hmm these NFL videos dont show up when you search for them. Maybe this wont work after all.Edited by: chris371

If the video is available in mpeg, avi, or wmv formats, it is pretty easy (but time consuming) to edit the videos using various software packages available. I don't think that you can download a Youtube video in any of those formats.

It would be nice to put together something like this, along with a voiceover giving the basics of the Caste System in football. In fact it would be great if someone has the ability and ambition to put videos together on a periodic basis that we could have for viewingin a forum on the board and also on the homepage.

I don't know if the NFL clips are copyrighted or not, but that could be a problem, especially for this site.

Downloading a Youtube video will give you a .flv file. There are converters for 'flv-to-avi' and 'flv-to-mpg' available. I've never tried any of them, so I don't know how well they work. There might be a problem with preserving the audio. Although you'd probably want to do your own audio.

yeah, i wanted to do this with white rbs/wrs/dbs in college and white players at caste positions in the nfl, except set to a catchy song, it will get most peoples attention if a great song is set to it, and people who will watch it will associate positive things with both the song and the players they see in the highlights

i.e. there are songs i now like because i watched great white players playing well set to them like sam mcguffie's mixtape, and there are highlights that i think i payed more attention to because of the catchy song like jordy nelson, i was looking for white wr's that were available in the draft, the first two i came across on youtube were jordy nelson(set to Can't stop me now) and the other todd blythe (not set to any music), jordy nelson immediately struck my attention because it had a catchy song to it i suppose, and i watched the video over and over and actually realized how great of a receiver he was but i didnt pay much attention to the todd blythe video. i know todd blythe is good, the highlights were good, but not enough to keep the average person to keep coming back to watch.

the bottom line is, the average drunk white fan needs to be stimulated at every level, highlight of welker with commentary on youtube = boring to most
highlight of welker set to some inspirational or hit song = awesome and more hits, more people rewatching it

so a voiceover about the caste system will not get the dwf's attentions, maybe just a brief flash of text about how the certain player was snubbed/demoted by the nfl or team, or had to walk on to college to get a scholarship, or has been bounced around the league etc. just something quick to get their attention, the highlight/music will do the rest

ive watched hl vids of black players that sucked a few times over and over because i liked the song set to it, and then upon closer watching it, realizing the guy was kind of mediocre, if i wasnt so critical of black players i wouldve gone about thinking some of these marginally talented athletes were supermen

i know this idea sounds like some sort of propaganda, but i think it will work to get white players more recognized , and these players you mention ARE good (the only white players that get a chance HAVE to be good, you rarely see a marginally talented white player starting at a caste position), they just need catchy songs attached to them for dwfs to keep coming back,

i think the nfl stuff is copywrighted but there is a way around it, something like giving them some sort of credit i think?

i know ncaa is up for grabs its just you have to dl the games individually and find the highlights for yourself, i have almost every mcguffie college game where he did well and i wanted to take out the good parts, i am currently downloading minnesota, kansas, northwestern, stanford, and texas games

edit: id also like to do this for high school recruits that are better than what recruiting sites say they are, but it is hard to get a hold of high shcool footage

sorry, didnt mean to hijack your thread, but ive been having the same idea and think its great, but also have limited computer knowledgeEdited by: dwid

Well ive added the tags "white receiver" to the video, so if someone is looking for white players on youtube theyl find wes.
Ill try and educate myself, though the flv to mpeg converters sound like a good start.

Well if you manage to find out how to do all of this before i do, tag it with "top ten receivers" or however many players are shown in the particular video, people may disagree with you but it will get alot of people to watch it and some will realize the players are actually great.

Ive come across a few top ten receiver vids on there that get alot of hits, which gave me the idea in the first place, because none of these guys top ten had austin collie, which i think he deserves to be up there, especially if guys like dillard from rice are put up there, then you cant say weak competition.

I think it's better to prop guys up than say he got snubbed or something
like that. We should be making self-fulfilling prophesies about white
athletes. If we say "this guy doesn't get the attention he deserves," then
people will think in there mind "there must be a good reason he doesn't."
If we say "this is one of the best up and coming receivers who should get
drafted 1st round in the NFL" then people believe that, and hype spreads
around.

I think dealing with bringing awareness to the caste system is tricky. For
videos on youtube and such, we should hype our guys as much as
possible. Think, it's like a product. If someone has a good product, they
usually don't say "it's unfair that our product is better than our
competitor, but theirs sells more." They simply do something like
whopper virgins, which I think is a very creative way of marketing that
doesn't make you sound bitter.

Also, music does make a huge difference. One of my favorite videos was
Jacob Hester's college highlights that was set to "A little less conversation,
a little more action" by Elvis Presley. There are lots of good songs to make
these things too, the biggest editing challenge is trying to synch
everything together. The Hester video did a good job of that,
unfortunately I cannot find it on youtube anymore

yes! this is exactly what im trying to do, like the jacob hester/jordy nelson video
on the jordy nelson vid is was propping him up saying draft him! and that he was the next jerry rice ect. and i dont know how it helped, but those two got drafted higher than expected
i wish i could find the jacob hester vid now, now every white highlight i like i download from youtube

the hardest part for me is finding all the games that white players have played in, i am wanting to mainly prop up white receivers in college like eric decker and austin collie, yet i can only find a few games with those teams and one of those games is minnesota vs wisconsin where decker didnt even play, i might just find the ones i can and include multiple white wide receivers but id rather it be individual highlights

if anyone has games with white receivers in college recently id love to buy them off of you so i can do this project, also if anyone can give suggestions on great
songs to put the highlights to

and also id like to hear some suggestions on who they think the top 20 players are in college football at caste positionsEdited by: dwid
