Another little glimmer of good news from the NFL, as different teams signed four different white defensive players yesterday and today. Jags sign Navarre, lineman, and Raiders sign Nixon, linebacker to replace Ricky Brown, Panthers sign Jordan Senn, linebacker, and Cardinals decide to get a token white player on defense, re-signing Monty Beisel, linebacker.

Beisel has the "honor" of being the Cardinals only white defensive player.

While the situation may be improving a little, we still have a long way to go.

Agreed on that Jack, we have a very long way to go. I do get excited when white defensive players get signed, of any position. There are so few white defensive players of any position, that to me, anyone getting signed is a victory. Of course, lots of them just become special teams players, like Patrick Bailey for Pittsburg, or Chamberlain for St Louis. Still, I believe that the most likely way for a significant improvement in white players making it into the NFL lies on defense. Unlike offense where whites already have some strongholds like QB, o-line, tight end, on defense there is no white stronghold anywhere, so the opportunities are endless. There is only one way to go, and thats up, when it comes to whites on defense in the NFL.

Matt Roth was waived, he might get claimed straight away as he is a very solid player who landed in the doghouse because of coming late from his injury despite the team doctors declaring him healthy enough to play.

PS also with L. Johnson heading to IR Dan Connor might have a shot at starting at WLB for Panthers!Edited by: backrow

Well, I posted too soon. Roth, Stamer, and Seward were cut today. However, Josh Thomas was re-re-signed by the Colts and Rocky Boiman signed by Pittsburg. So, six white defensive players signed, but three cut as well. A whole lot of transactions today.

There seems to be an uptick in the playing time for White DBs as this season goes along. According to Rotoworld the Jets are demoting Kerry Rhodes and promoting Eric Smith to starting FS alongside Jim Leonhard. That gives the Jets two White starting safeties. And the Chargers now start Eric Weddle and Steve Gregory. When was the last time the league had two teams with two Whites starting at safety? Probably at least 25 years ago and maybe 30 or more.

Anthony Scirrotto was signed to the NY Giants practice squad. Wheter he will see the field depends on a few affletes getting injured.

Hopefully, a lot of these guys can stick for next year's team as well. Good news on Roth. Any white defensive player signed is good news.Edited by: Jack Lambert

It's great that Eric Smith is being promoted over Kerry Rhodes but I don't like Smith one bit. I read some articles about him and he is supposedly the biggest wigger of them all.

Are there more white and other players in the leauge now on active rosters than at this point last year. Does any one know or care to speculate. Their seems like their has been an uptick in the number of whites and others as compared to the number of superior affletes. Maybe this is a sign that their just aren't that many affletes available to fill out all of the rosters in the NFL. If so this is a good sign for the future if the trend continues.

from rotoworld:

Raiders signed OLB Slade Norris off their practice squad.

Norris, Oakland's fourth-round pick, has been on the practice team to this point while struggling to convert to outside linebacker after playing defensive end in college. He'll back up on the strong side and cover kicks.

he's very fast, let's hope he can tackle!

Well, our run of good news about defensive players didn't hold this week as the Jags cut Landri and the Colts re-re-cut Josh Thomas, and most irritating is that they were replaced by blacks on the practice squad. However, the Browns do sign Brian Schafering.

Josh Thomas has been cut by the Colts even more times than John Standeford was. What's even more pathetic is that the Colts and Patriots are annually two of the relatively "White friendliest" teams and neither starts a White player on defense.

We will have to wait and see if he gets signed next year. If he doesn't he won't get back into the league and will be labeled a "bust" despite showing great potential last season.

I wish these players well but to me it looks like the NFL is getting blacker by the year. I've seen so many games with only 3-4 white starters on each team. We may have a slight improvement at QB, safety and linebacker. But this is washed away by the seemingly overnight transformation of the O-line from white dominated to black-dominated. Just two years ago all the final 4 teams (Pats, Packers, Chargers, Giants) had all-white O-lines (well, the Giants had a token black). Now when the starting lineups are shown I now often see 4 double chinned sumos and one white athlete as O-line starters.Edited by: Liverlips

I mentioned that before Liverlips. We have seen an increase in white linebackers, safeties, and even a slight increase in white receivers. That doesn't change the fact that the NFL now wants offensive lines to be majority black.

Actually, in terms of offensive lines, the four teams that had so many whites two years ago (Pats, Packers, Chargers, Giants) still do today. But I am worried at the wave of sumos that are coming in year after year. I fear it is only a matter of time before even these bastions of white strength will be impacted.

The momentum for sumo-dominated lines has been dramatically increased the past few years and looks very difficult to halt right now. The fat blobs on the o-line "compliment" the often even fatter blobs on the d-line. White men simply rarely get that big and fat; even the ones that win strength contests don't look as big as black linemen even though they are far stronger and more athletic. There's almost no way to combat sumos dominating on both lines as that particular grotesque bodytype is almost exclusively a "black thang."

Statistics show that blacks are the most obese group in the US. I've read numerous articles regarding this. It's usually blamed on fast food companies advertising being geared towards blacks. The excuses will never end. Anyways I remember that fat sumo Aaron Gibson being labeled as the next great lineman. He only lasted 6 seasons and started 34 games. This fat pig was over 400 lbs! One of his coaches said something about him being all muscle and having a 4 pack. Can people really be this stupid?

It's all about "body type" and recruiting for a certain "look" rather than the actual athleticism of the individual. That's one of the main recruiting dilemmas that white RBs and receivers have. If they don't have that "look", with the tight "bubble" and all of that, well then, they can't be any good, in the minds of the caste coaches and recruiters. Same with the sumos. They must have that "black thang", and the excess tonnage to qualify. Which is ridiculous, of course. Look at Casey Weigman, he's 280 after eating at a buffet and he can handle giant sumo nose tackles by himself most of the time.

Derek Landri was picked up by seemingly the only other team that had a white DT backup, Panthers. Nick Hayden's job might be in danger.
