Here's a tale about a team which is as anti-"modern football" as it gets - the Czech team Viktoria Plzen.

The team is owned by the City of Plzen (no Jewish Gangsters or Arab Sheiks, thank you very much), the budget of the whole club is a grand total of 3.2M Euros (80M Czech Crowns according to this article http://www.praguepost.com/news/10058-viktoria-plze�ˆ-wins-huge-payday.html ), i.e. their whole team's yearly budget is worth about 15% of Balotelli's transfer fee from ManCity to AC Milan!
And yet they managed to win the Czech Championship last year, and played in the Group stage of the Champions league, finishing third in a tough group behind Barcelona and Milan.
This year they play in Europa League and just destroyed the Italian giants Napoli - currently second in Serie A - (3:0 in Naples, 2:0 in Plzen) and advanced into the round of 16 where they will play against the Turkish team Fenerbahce.
Oh, and did I mention their roster is completely white and almost completely Czech (with a couple os Slovakians)?
The Napoli fans complained all over the internet about their team of super-fit billionaires being trashed by a team whose players appear to have beer-bellies. Indeed, here's the picture of Viktoria's captain and best player ever, the 37-years old Pavel Horvath :icon_mrgreen: :

It's good that they have a lot of Romanians, but these countries still export players to Spain, England etc , so they are taking up spots that should go to Spanish, English players. They were mentioning how well one of the Steau players was playing and said he will go to a bigger club soon. This is how players in the bigger countries lose out to these players.

I love that Tottenham beat Inter 3-0. 3 whites scored for them. Inter had two Italians play and 9 South Americans. Tottenham had 7 "British" play. So all these South American imports couldn't beat the 7 Brits ,which included several mulattoes. This is the state of "Italian" football.

i saw it in french, i watch all movies in french (in france we have good dubbing)

it seems to be another aspect of modern football, the really good players from south america don't get much attention, but mediocre south american players get more
today the south american stars can only play in smaller clubs it seems
except a few argentines and brazilians
for example paolo guerrero was the top scorer of the last copa america with peru, but clubs like internazionale prefer having the mediocre south americans they have now, and guerrero went back to south america
i'd rather have a few south americans playing in europe, but the best ones, instead of the brazilian fullbacks, the unknown argentines ect

I wasn’t even born at that time^^ After the Bosman ruling it went pretty much downhill for the “minorâ€￾ Leagues since they couldn’t hold on to their players anymore, the collapse of the Eastern Block and Yugoslavia, the change to the Champions League and the decision to dismantle the UEFA Cup did pretty much the rest. Now all you see the same clubs every year (Real, Barca, ManUtd), the Euro League is a farce, and I don’t think that a club like Steaua could ever win the Champions League again.

he has weak points but instead of obviously humiliating him by starting diego lopez instead of him they should have bought a foreign goalkeeper

For me,neither were 'clear-cut' chances and a covering defender would've got back in time to make a block.

City's double punishment was warranted. Arsenal's not so. As said in the article, if that's not the rule, then Messi can and will be chopped down every time he breaks free out of convenience. Dimichelis clearly has no chance at getting the ball as Messi is already in front of him and has touched the ball yards ahead. I see Szczeny's differently: a goalkeeper's foul is almost by default in the situation of a goal scoring opportunity, so goalkeepers must practically not foul at all, or be sent off? He legitimately comes for the ball which he is clearly in front of and in decent position to challenge for; though fractionally late, he makes no special movement to suggest he is trying to take the player, etc. Refereeing myself, I know that the argument that suggesting "deliberate" be part of a rule can be problematic because one cannot know the intentions of a player in certainty, but with each of these situations being so unique, it is possible to make some finer distinctions. Still too, I know referees who would not have sent off in that situation. [Though I'd argue against Robben's change being a clear goal scoring opportunity. Already having jumped up, he has mistouched the ball with the outside of foot and sent it out of his path of movement; he has to land and change trajectory, then accelerate enough to catch the ball which is bouncing away from goal and player with Sagna arriving immediately while Monreal is about to cover the goal.
