i don't like that either - optimising his chances by his choices. What it did comprehensively show to the unwashed athletic public was that hype about how quick "fast Eddie" is was all formed based on his over the limit wind times in the U.S. He did OK with his new 10.03 PB but the final showed he can't touch Kennedy as yet.
I constantly corrected everyone who wrote tripe like that and explained the reality of how the sprints work (I don't know how many listened :rolleyes:) ........ but the Australian selectors weren't ever going to jeopardise our relay chances by parachuting him in - good for them.
 
Another Aussie that I don’t believe has been mentioned here is Alexander Colgan. He had a 10.15 +1.9 a couple years ago and then didn’t seem to run much last year and regressed. But this year he has had some improvement again and has a 10.22 +1.9, although his times are a bit all over the place. He seemed to run into a headwind quite a lot as well and hasn’t run since April. He’s only 21 so plenty of time to improve. MM, maybe you know more about this young man?
 
How many white Australian sprinters have broken 10.10? I remember another one named Sultana who just kind of disappeared.

Trae Williams who has a p.b. of 10.10 was another Australian Sprinter to leave track to play Rugby. It's alot easier to make money that
way sadly. We lose so many of our best men to other sports. He would have went sub 10 in my opinion. What a explosive sprinter!

Marco Ferreira of South Africa won his heat at the U20 World Championships in 10.11 (1.2w).
Chun Ting Kwok of Hong Kong and Wyatt Lee were 2nd and 3rd in the same time of 10.29.

In the 2026 World Under 20 Championships our guys went through to the semifinals.

Marco Ferreira 10.11 +1.2 to win his heat

Wyatt Lee 10.29 +1.2

Jakob Kemminer 10.32 +1.4

Zavier Peacock 10.32 with 0 wind

I must say that Marco Ferreira is going to be a very special sprinter for South Africa. He hadn't raced in over a month. It's been a
very long season and yet he cruised to that 10.11 like a jog in the park. The kid may go sub 10 & he is only 19. He is a talent that
is far beyond his years. Exciting to see as they need someone to continue & go beyond what guys like Morne Nagel and Emile Erasmus started.
 
Australia looked good in the 4x400m mixed relay, coming 2nd to the USA in their heat.
South Africa also came in 2nd in their heat, running (surprisingly) an all white quartet.
