2026 NFL Week 1

D. K. Metcalf has already thrown his hat in the ring in the always fevered competition to be named the NFL's Most Over-Rated WGA. He was terrible last season compared to what he's being paid to do; yesterday he almost single-handedly allowed the Falcons to pull off the upset:

Rodgers’ main target, DK Metcalf, had a day to forget. The man making an annual average of $33 million a year was targeted 10 times but caught just four balls for 40 yards. Metcalf dropped multiple passes and was flagged twice for offensive pass interference. https://www.post-gazette.com/sports...ke-mccarthy-steelers-win/stories/202609130094

Well at least he refrained from attacking a fan like he did last year in Detroit. I can't see Rodgers continuing to forcefeed Metcalf but he may have no choice given the other receiving options he has. Michael Pittman is a good slot receiver but is too slow to use outside. The other receivers remain "works in progress" while Skowronek and Wetjen watch from the bench.

BTW, Rodgers can still throw deep passes with pretty good accuracy. He was doing a lot of dinking and dunking and dumpoffs to the RBs yesterday, and may have to do more if Metcalf continues to hold back the passing attack.

Nix throws an interception on his first drive and then comes back with a nice drive which he ended with a 19 yard touchdown pass.

Wow, now Aikman throwing Moss under the bus. “Another missed tackle by Moss leads to a touchdown.” So Moss is a linebacker responsible for tackling Kenneth Walker?

Aikman blames Walker's long TD run on a missed Moss tackle around the line of scrimmage but doesn't mention the Bronco defender who had a clean shot at him 40 yards down field, could have easily pushed him out of bounds.

I will say that Walker is one of the best RBs in the league. He has speed, elusiveness, and most importantly vision. The latter quality separates him from so many mediocre black running backs.

I’m not too impressed by Nix this game, but his receivers can’t catch. If this plays out, Nix and Moss will take all the blame.

so funny how many casuals blame Riley Moss for these 2 touchdowns, like any CB in the NFL reliably makes either of those tackles AND he wasn't the only one who missed on either play. he forced the ball carrier to make a move and abandon their running lane, that's about all you can reliably ask from a CB. still gets all the blame of course.

Very rusty and inept, maybe they'll pick it up in the fourth quarter. . .

I think this game is over LOL. They certainly do not look good but it's only week one. Broncos made no attempt to establish a run game like the Chiefs did. Davis Webb has some work to do as a first time playcaller.

It's also worth nothing DE/LB Jack Pyburn has not been spotted. He was one of the players rumored to go back to college after the preseason. He of course was cut by the Bucs (they could have used him yesterday) after a good preseason. Did the Chiefs just sign him to help out the NFL/NCAA with the potential of players returning to the college game? Will he be cut after the game?
