The New Mexico Lobos have started 9, 11, 9, 7, 7, 6, 7, 5, 9, 9 , 7, 5, 5, 6, 4, 9, 5, 4 and 6 White athletes since 2005 (with a few missing years). In 2026 the Lobos are projected to start 8.

Jason Eck returns after a successful 9-3 campaign. His son Jaxton Eck was a tackling machine on defense with 128 total tackles. He's one of the top returning LBs in the country.

The most interesting player on the roster is Oregon transfer QB Luke Moga. He was pushed out of the Ducks QB room this past offseason and transferred in to New Mexico. He did garner some buzz last year while with the Ducks so if he ends up winning the starting job he could be one of those surprise stars this season.

Players to look out for are WR Evan Wysong, TE Tripp Walsh, DE Brayden Ellis, LB Clay Martineau. Their defensive depth on the roster is promising for underclassmen - 5 DEs, 1 DT and 4 LBs classify as freshman or sophomores.

Offense
QB Jack Layne
TE Cade Keith
LT Cole Millward
C Kaden Robnett
RT Tyler Lawrence

Defense
LB Mercury Swaim
LB Jaxton Eck
S Austin Brawley
