2026 MLB Season

Trout absolutely CRUSHES this HR onto the railroad tracks!!!

'It's Mike Trout': 3-time MVP socks 5th Opening Day HR in stellar return to CF
“I felt like myself again out there,” Trout said. “Just being in center and stealing bags. It was a fun win.

Trout, a three-time AL MVP and 11-time All-Star, made history by becoming the first player in franchise history to start in 14 Opening Days and play in at least 16 seasons with the club. And the 34-year-old showed he still has plenty in the tank. In addition to reaching base safely four times, Trout returned to center field for the first time since April 29, 2024, as he’s back at his natural position after a move to right field in ‘25.

Trout not necessarily known for quick starts has hit his second homerun in his first 2 games to start the season. He's 3-3 tonight! Would love to see him have a monster season!

Pete Crow Armtstrong 2-4 + 1 BB, 1 SB, 2R, 1 RBI !

Cade Horton great young Cubs Pitcher gets the win! 11-4, 2.67 ERA last year -

Dylan Cease:

The veteran right-hander set a record for a Blue Jays pitching debut with 12 strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings in an 8-7, 11-inning win over the Athletics. He also allowed one run and three hits.

30 year old Cease has 1243 lifetime Ks and an amazing 11.0 K / 9 IP !! He has a chance to get to 3000 by the end of his career!!!!

The Buccos have the number one MLB prospect in 19 year old shortstop Konor Griffin, who has a good chance to start as a rookie this season. Not too many teenagers start in the bigs, the last shortstop I can think of who did is Hall of Famer Robin Yount who started for the Brewers at the age of 18 right out of high school.

Griffin is 6' 4" and 225 pounds and is a five tool player. He's a devout Christian and married his long-time sweetheart. He seems to have a good head on his shoulders, which is impressive for someone so young. Hopefully he reaches his potential. More info on him can be found here:

Konnor Griffin, 19, is baseball’s No. 1 prospect. Is he ready to be Pirates’ starting shortstop?

Griffin started the season in the minors but is being brought up for the Pirates' home opener on Friday. With Paul Skenes and with Griffin hopefully on the way to stardom, the Buccos might actually be close to fielding an exciting and winning team. They also brought in 2B Brandon Lowe and 1B/OF Ryan O'Hearn during the offseason. Long plagued with arguably the worse owner in pro sports in Bob Nutting, the payroll was increased and they have a chance to compete for a wildcard spot this year if things go well. They've had exactly four seasons over .500 since winning their last division title in 1992 so the Pittsburgh fans are starved for a good team.

Don, I read on the back of his baseball card that he ran from home to third in 11.44 seconds. It was the fastest time in the minors and the third fastest time in all of baseball, this is at 6'4" and 225 lbs.

Good stuff!

We'll see how he pans out, but his minor league numbers are eye popping (and he's only 19 years old):

.336 BA / .420 OBP / .530 SLG / 68 SB / 121 R / 95 RBI in 500 AB

The Pirates signed Konnor Griffin to a 9 year deal for a reported $140 million. There's some risk on Pittsburgh's part as Griffin could be a bust, as unlikely as that seems. But I'd say Griffin is the one who loses out. Assuming the U.S. isn't destroyed by Operation Epstein Fury and continues along its utterly corrupt, dysgenic course for another nine years, there'll be baseball players making $140 mil in a single season. Griffin undersold himself.

He can always renegotiate the deal. Great debut so far, with RBI double in his first at bat. I love the ballpark with the downtown views. With Skenes and Griffin, and not so much Cruz, Pittsburgh has some real buzz.

Maybe, maybe not. Bob Nutting is the most tight-fisted owner in baseball. There's ways Griffin can wrangle himself out of Pittsburgh and he'll probably want to eventually given Nutting's record of four winning seasons in 34 years. Nutting's m.o. is to trade young stars before they get the big money as free agents, which is why the Pirates have been "rebuilding" for a third of a century.

Cruz is awful, terrible base runner and fielder, strikes out a ton, .234 lifetime batting average, but does hit the occasional homerun, whoopee. Simply no baseball awareness and no interest in changing or trying to improve. Most of the buzz on local talk radio is how to get rid of him.

2B Brandon Lowe, 31 HR and 83 RBIs with Tampa last year and 39 homers in '21, was a nice addition as was Ryan O'Hearn. The old Buccos just might have a playoff contender this year if things go well. Skenes will most likely be gone as soon as he become a free agent or is about to, so hopefully the team has a few good years before that happens.
