The Ravens parted ways with John Harbaugh after 18 seasons, but little else has changed. From 4 White starters and 11 overall in 2023 to 5/13 in ’24, to 5/12 last year, the 2026 Ravens look and feel the same as they did during Harbaugh’s tenure, except the number of White starters has fallen to just 3 with 12 overall on the 53.
Veteran tight end Mark Andrews remains the starter at tight end and is still one of the best when healthy. Andrews had a down year in ’25, but so did quarterback Lamar Jackson, who was nicked up and whose trademark rushing ability declined to just 349 yards, his lowest total since running for 695 yards as a rookie in 2018.
Jackson isn’t a great passer but has been better than many want to give him credit for, having thrown 187 TD passes in his career to just 56 interceptions. He’s nearing 30 years of age, a time when the vast majority of quality White QBs are just entering their peak years, but a time when black quarterbacks often fall off a cliff in output, if they even last that long. Andrews is a long-time favorite target of Jackson, especially in the red zone, so his output will again remain tied to that of Jackson. How Jackson fares this season as far as his rushing ability and overall health is one of the more interesting questions going into the new season.
Roger Rosengarten starts at right tackle. The only White backups on the line are LG Andrew Voorhees and C Ethan Pocic.
The Ravens have three White tight ends on the roster, which as is the case with some other ultra-black teams is the only reason the overall number of Whites on the roster reaches double digits. After Andrews, the backups are Durham Smythe and Matt Hibner. Josh Cueva, the fourth TE, is Mexican born and looks to have considerable Spanish background but doesn’t quite qualify as White.
After a superb preseason, quarterback Joe Fagnano from UConn made the roster behind Jackson and Tyler Huntley. According to reports, several teams are trying to trade for Fagnano so he may have a shot at eventually starting somewhere rather than languishing in Baltimore.
Trey Hendrickson’s story is well known on CF. Despite a stellar college career at Florida Atlantic he was forced to undergo a three year racial apprenticeship at New Orleans behind first round bust Marcus Davenport, who amazingly even for the Caste NFL continues to bounce from team to team trying to realize his non-existent “upside.”
When Hendrickson finally began to start for the Saints in 2020, he responded with 13.5 sacks and was then signed by the Bengals, for whom he became one of the NFL’s premier sackmasters, leading the league in back to back seasons in ’23 and ’24 with 17.5 both years. However, the Bengals refused to pay Hendrickson fair market value and after a couple of years of fruitless back and forth contract negotiations, Hendrickson signed with Baltimore in the offseason and is now what many thought had become almost impossible, a White defensive starter for the Baltimore Ravens.
After Hendrickson, the only other White defensive player is third string OLB Ethan Burke.
New head coach Jess Minter looks to be a Harbaugh clone to this point. GM Eric DeCosta has been with the organization for 30 years and replaced long-time GM Ozzie Newsome in 2019, so the “Ravens Way,” which is arguably the only hard-core ultra-black Caste team other than Green Bay to have some success, will look much the same as it always does, other than having a White starter on defense and a 4/5 sumo o-line instead of the usual 3 to 4 White starters.
