Since 2008 the UNC Tarheels have started 5,7, 4, 5, 4, 3, 6, 8, 10, 6, 4, 5, 5, 5, 4, 5, and 3 white athletes. In 2025 they improve one to a whopping 4. Well, I guess that's progress, maybe. Stay tuned. I have some shocking news!
On offense center Austin Blaske will start for the second consecutive year. Junior Texas A & M transfer Jake Johnson will start at TE. Ok here's the shocking news.
2026 white RB Crew Davis out of New Rochelle, NY has committed to the Tarheels! Anyone from up in that area know anything about him, please post if you haven't already. Can't wait to see if he sticks and earns a starting position in the future! Don't look for a white QB anytime soon as local NC QB Bryce Baker is already slotted as the second string QB as a true freshman. However, Belichick has offered a white HS sophomore QB here in NC. Can't remember who it is, but I posted it earlier this year. I'll find him.
Defensively, the Heels will start RS FR Peter Pesansky at DT. Also, SR Will Hardy has earned his starting position back at FS. Hopefully he has a great senior year and can get an NFL look! He's backed up by NC native RS JR Coleman Bryson, a Minnesota safety who transferred back to his home state. Not sure how he made his way all the way up to Minnesota in the first place. I guess it was a little whiter up there.
On special teams, Hardy is slated as the punt returner!

Offense-
C-Austin Blaske GR/TR
TE-Jake Johnson JR/TR

Prominent back up, TE Connor Cox JR/TR

Defense-
DT-Peter Pesansky RS/FR
FS-Will Hardy

Prominent backups:
MLB-Evan Bennett RS/FR
FS-Coleman Bryson RS/JR

Special Teams
PR-Will Hardy SR

CS, I don’t know much about Davis, but I know New Rochelle as I grew up not far from it. We’d play their HS in sports. Now Davis went to Iona Prep, a Catholic school, not their public HS. Probably a good move as NRHS was never a football powerhouse or anything. Iona Prep more know for their athletics as they are a feeder HS for their sister college (same name). Iona College, also located in New Rochelle, however doesn’t have a football program to my knowledge and is known for being a small conference power in basketball. They make the NCAA tournament often and were coached by Rick Pitino a few years back before he moved back up to a big program (St John’s).

I know I didn’t provide any useful info but it appears that Davis is a lacrosse star too and will play that at UNC. If he got recruited for football out of NY, he must be really good. We’re not exactly a hotbed, at least in the eyes of the recruiters.

PS - a few other noteworthy athletes from New Rochelle are Cleveland Cavs player Ty Jerome (Iona Prep), retired RB Ray Rice (NRHS) and retired NHL player Kevin Shattenkirk (Iona Prep).
