2025 Track Results

Kennedy being a pure 60/100m guy is a really good thing in my opinion. There won’t be any nonsense of him focusing on anything else. That being said I hope he still runs some 200’s to help the speed endurance. I’ve been wondering about Kalen Walker and Brody Buffington. Neither ran at the US championships and in fact neither have run at all since June.

As far as I know both Walker and Buffington can't run other than the US Champs or they would lose their remaining college eligibility.
Brody Buffington is gonna be a junior this fall. Kalen Walker will be a 5th year senior. He got extra time due to injuries.

Thanks for looking that up. Yes both Shirvo and PJ were inconsistant. I still enjoyed watching Matt Shirvington even though he never quite reached the level we all hoped for. Lachlan Kennedy is just what Australia needed. I think he will run faster than Lemaitre over the 100 but not over the 200 meters. That doesn't matter as much though in my opinion. When Kennedy breaks Patrick Johnsons Records and dips into the 9.80's he will be in a category all by himself. The only other non african ancestry sprinter to do that was from China Su Bingtian.
now we can look back a decade we can appreciate how good Lemaitre was for the sport. Sure, he wasn't extroverted and was content to remain living near Annecy (I've been there twice - beautiful area to be in) ... but he did show inner steel in the many races he did well. Imagine being spotted in a young teenager carnival race and a gym teacher took him to that level. Carraz said he was so quiet he thought him autistic but said he learned things well

I'm of the opinion (i hope I'm wrong) that Browning may move on to his next stage of life after these worlds. I so hope he is in his best possible shape when he goes. He'll be 28 on the last day of the year. If all goes well there are the Com Games next year so that could be his swansong if no more injuries. Our 2032 Brisbane Olympics seem too far away. He'd be 34 by then.
Kennedy on the other hand will be 28 then

A big shout out to Savannah Sutherland .... a powerful 22 year old Canadian who is excellent over a range of distances. 3rd best 2025 400h time - 52.46. Can't wait to watch more of her races.
Certainly someone for you to cheer on Sprintstar

Browning has had an incredible season when you look at the numbers. There aren’t many white sprinters out there who have had a season like him. In terms of consistency and running sub 10.10 as many times as he had, Lemaitre may be the only one who’s done better over a season. I really hope he can pop off some sub 10’s at worlds. He really does deserve it with his perseverance. If he does and then decides to retire, I’d be ok with that.

A few more results recently.

Sotirios Gkaragkanis of Greece ran a 10.23 +0.5 Good to see some sprinters from Greece showing good form. It seems like since
the days of Kostas Kenteris they mostly faded away in alot of the short sprints.

20 year old German Sprinter Benedikt Thomas Wallstein ran a time of 10.24 +1.0 for a new personal best. With his young age he is
one to keep a close eye on. They have a lot of under 23 guys breaking out to fast times in Germany!

the winner of the Under 20 European 100m is young enough to run it again next year. Ander Garaiar turned 18 in May and ran that 10.40 into a slight wind. But it's these stats that got me thinking
Ander Garaiar: 60m 6.96. 100m 10.28. 200m 20.74

6.96 is nothing to write home about but if we take his 10.28 and deduct that 60m time from it (there's no way to be more accurate with the info I have) that would denote some serious top end. 3.32 for the last 40m is huge ........ 43.4kph.
He'll be someone to watch next 2 seasons or so

I agree on Sutherland, she also won the Canadian Championships in the 400m flat, not a super good time(world qualifying time) but at least she can go to Worlds in 3 events. Her future is definitely the 400mh in my opinion. She is a smart young lady and not hard on the eyes either

Thanks for this. Although I find this thread to be one of the most entertaining on CF, and unfortunately the most obscure to general sports fans, I do find that track and field women are for the most part genuinly hot.

21 year old German Sprinter Heiko Gusmann just ran a new p.b. of 10.11 +0.5! This kid is a huge talent. He ran a 10.19 in the finals
but he is so young. Will he be the first german spritner to go sub 10 wind legal? Probably not this year but give him a couple of years.
He ran a wind legal 10.15 earlier this summer. So he is consistantly running sub 10.20 times which is great!

Heiko Gussmann increases to 10.11 seconds

With Heiko Gussmann (sprint team Wetzlar), a German sprinter broke through the international Phalanx. He inspired 10.11 seconds in the preliminary run and thus cracked the performance standard for the World Cup in Tokyo (Japan; 13th to 21 September). His previous best time he prevailed by four hundredths. "I couldn't believe it at first. The run hadn't felt so quickly," summed up the 21-year-old.

He was the only German sprinter in the final, where he drummed a great time of 10.19 seconds on the train. "I was a bit tense at the start than in the lead. After all, there were three or four runners, the times could run around 10.00 seconds. I thought I could hang in there. It didn't work out so well," he said after the finals. In the final, the Ghanaian Benjamin Azamati ignited the turbo again in 10.02 seconds and further reduced the stadium record.

At the Athlete Night Games in Japan, Hiroki Yanagita won the 100m in 10.00 (+0.3), a 0.02s PB. Yuki Koike was 2nd in 10.08 SB.

In the Men's 200m final, Asian champ, Towa Uzawa, won easily in 20.11 (+0.9).

Just checked the top 100m times for Japan and they have 45 sprinters this year who have run under 10.3. That’s crazy depth.
