Minnesota has had 11, 9, 10, (-), 8, 10, 8, 11, 9, 11, 19, 7, 6, 7, 7, 6, 8, 8, 10 and 11 white starters over the past 20 years. They are projected to start 12 in 2025.

PJ Fleck's track record has been decent at Minnesota. His program just put 4 White athletes into the NFL - QB Max Brosmer, DE Danny Striggow, LB Cody Lindenberg and DB Jack Henderson. Not many coaches can say that. If any coach is following the Iowa/Ferentz model it seems to be Fleck.

The Gophers continue to buck trends and feature a potential all American candidate in Safery Koi Perich. CB John Nestor transferred over from Iowa giving the Gophers two potential starting White DBs. QB Drake Lindsey was a big time recruit and will hopefully play well this year after sitting behind Brosmer in 2024. Logan Loya transfers over from UCLA where he was a very good WR despite issues with the QB position and him being phased out by the new coaching staff in 2024.

Great looking squad! They've got interesting players all over the place. This is how every team should look (at minimum).

Can't wait to see what Perich does for an encore....

Was watching the Gophers last season. One of the announcers noted P.J. Fleck wanted Minnesota to "emulate Iowa". That's probably their best way forward. Jerry Kill types filled the program with "speedy" blacks from Florida and Texas. But they were blacks no one else in the Big Ten wanted. He was bringing in MAC and Sun Belt caliber blacks to compete in the Big 10.
