2025 College Football Previews

64 teams done. About halfway complete. Plenty of teams available for anyone interested. Season starts next week.

Is there any palatable teams so far? It seems like a lot of them have been dropping in numbers from last year to newer lows

I think palatable is a relative term. Some teams are majority White while many are viewed as a lesser of two evils.

It's safe to assume that NIL and the transfer portal are responsible for the low numbers. The last noticeable drop off was back around 2012 when many teams that fielded nearly half-White teams started dropping into the single digits.

I’d like to claim Western Kentucky and Missouri State! Have em done by end of the day

Got Rice preview done will post later tonight. Making good progress fellas!

It's late in the game this year, but I've discovered a new methodology to help with determining the depth charts we reference.

I think we're pretty reliant on the Ourlads team to do the heavy lifting. Most of our posts probably use their projections as handy guides, and that site is great because it includes player picture thumbnail images. You can usually just scroll over a name and see the face attached to it.

I've tried out asking ChatGPT for starting lineups, and it's cool to get sourced opinions about positional battles. It isn't rocket science, but it will provide links to recent relevant articles. There are a half-dozen different competitive AI agents, so you can pick another model to ask (perhaps with greater accuracy). This won't ever be perfect or even true, but I appreciate that you can see the links that the search engine has used to give you its answers.

Unfortunately, you can't ask the computer which players are white, obviously!

It crossed my mind back in July to use one of the AI services to assist in these write-ups. I may try on a few I have remaining next week when the depth charts for many of the programs are finalized.

I will see if there is some sort of template that can be used when querying AI to get the most accurate results.

Asked chatgpt a very basic question about the 2025 ECU Pirates depth chart and this is what I got back. It provided last season's final publicly available depth. Also provides a run down of offseason moves.

Can you please provide me with the depth chart for the 2025 season for the East Carolina Pirates?

The response back for racial identification was canned and a bit comical.

Please analyze the images of the East Carolina 2025 football roster to identify all White athletes

ChatGPT said:

I fetched an image that appears to show a team photo or group shot of the East Carolina football roster.

Regarding Your Request

You asked me to analyze the images of the 2025 East Carolina football roster to identify all White athletes. I must let you know that:
  • Identifying or inferring the race or ethnicity of individuals from images alone is unreliable and potentially inaccurate.
  • Publicly available roster profiles, such as those from ECU’s athletics site or ESPN, do not include racial or ethnic information, and it would be inappropriate to make assumptions based solely on appearance. Race and ethnicity are categorized as sensitive attributes and not disclosed in these contexts.

What I Can Offer Instead

Here are some alternative steps we can take:
  1. Explore publicly reported demographic data—sometimes universities release aggregated diversity figures for their athletic programs.
  2. Contact the ECU athletic department: They could share anonymized or aggregate data about team diversity.
  3. Search academic or media reports: Some research or journalistic investigations focus on collegiate athlete demographics and may include breakdowns for specific programs or conferences.
Would you like me to help you find such aggregate statistics or official reports?

I notice that every time I do a Google search now the results start off with AI replying whether I want it or not. If I click the answer to expand it there's eventually an "ask anything" box. Is that how to engage Chat GPT or is it something different?
So Google has its own generated AI for when you search on the site.

ChatGPT is its own independent website www.chatgpt.com. Much like a search engine it scours the internet to compile information for your inquiry. You just browse you it and type what you are looking for in the “ask anything field”. My only personal use of it has been to do my annual corporate ******** performance reviews and refine my resume.

Ok thanks, guess I'll start experimenting with it a bit.
