2025 Carolina Panthers

In recent memory the Carolina Panthers have been strict adherents to the caste system and the 2025 iteration of the team is no different. Gone are the days when the Panthers started a White running back in Christian McCaffrey. They are now back to scheduled caste system programming with a whopping 3 White starters and 11* White players on the roster in total. These numbers are scarcely different from last year as the 2024 Panthers had 3 White starters and 10 White players on the roster in total. Just like last year, the three White starters are at WR, C, and LB. Returning at C is Austin Corbett, who last started double-digit games in 2022 and has been struggling with injuries ever since the final game of that season. Time will tell if he can stay healthy and be the Stalwart we know he can be given his exceptional physical talent and championship pedigree. Corbett boasts an 8.44 RAS and even won a Super Bowl in 2021 with the LA Rams. If only the league had more players of his caliber in an era rife with poor offensive line play.

In August, WR Adam Thielen was traded to the Vikings and replacing him is Hunter Renfrow, who signed with the Panthers earlier this year after taking a one-year absence from football in 2024 due to illness. Rumor has it that Thielen pushed for the trade because he plans on the 2025 season being his last and he wants to spend it playing for the team that drafted him. It is unknown how true that is but a video of Thielen celebrating "going home" with his family seems to support it. Regardless, his replacement Renfrow is still looking to recapture the magic of his 2021 season with the Las Vegas Raiders where he caught 103 passes for 1,038 yards and was voted to the Pro Bowl. Injuries, illness, and the omnipresent caste system have hindered him since then but he's not giving up just yet.

Sadly, the talented but perpetually-injured LB Josey Jewell was released by the Panthers in July due to health issues concerning lingering concussion symptoms. Apparently it was a mutual decision but in the caste system a "mutual decision" is typically mutual in name only. At the time of this writeup it is unknown what he will do going forward. Taking his place is Christian Rozeboom, who has been mostly relegated to special teams duty throughout his career. However, in 2024 he started 11 games for the LA Rams, recorded an interception, defended 4 passes, garnered a sack, and amassed a combined 135 tackles, including 5 tackles for a loss. Rozeboom has all the makings of a rising star. Look out for him as a shining light among the darkness that is the 2025 Carolina Panthers.

The Carolina Panthers are in a bad way like so many other teams in this league. The team finished 5-12 last year and 2-15 the year before. They have not won double-digit games or made the playoffs since 2017. Owner David Tepper personally spearheaded a massive deal with the Bears to trade up for Bryce Young in the 2023 draft. The Panthers gave up a starting WR and a whopping four draft picks, including two first-round draft picks to acquire the 5'10 Young. In the 2023 and 2024 seasons, he amassed a 6-22 record as a starter, threw 26 touchdowns to 19 interceptions, and posted a 77.3 passer rating. He was even temporarily benched for veteran journeyman Andy Dalton in September of 2024. The Panthers are in what I like to call "caste system hell". Like many things in life, failure in football typically starts from the top down. Tepper is impulsive, meddling, and a fervent caste disciple. Wait a minute, those labels describe most, if not all the owners don't they? Yes, and that's a big reason as to why the NFL is the way it is. Let the 2025 Carolina Panthers serve as one of the foremost examples of caste zealotry and the putridity it produces.

Great write up. You sir know your stuff!

I’m a big fan of Rozeboom. Super underrated. Also, really pulling for Renfrow to pull off the comeback. Only 11 yards on 2 catches but at least he had 6 targets. The whole offense was out of sync however.

Thank you! Rozeboom definitely has a ton of potential. As for Renfrow, it's definitely a pipe dream with Bryce Young throwing him the ball but a return to his 2021 form culminating in a CPOY award would be an incredible story.
