unbelievable - McLaughlin breezed past Bol on the bend and Bol seemed to deflate, psychologically collapse and she let Cockerell past her too. Very disappointing .... I never thought I'd see her do that, especially after her recent sub 51 and that 47.94 relay split earlier on.

Congrats to Sidney McLaughlin -Levronne on another world record and the gold medal. Now this lady has class and integrity. Not the childish showoff like Lyles and countless other athletes.

I believe I've seen this happen before. We discussed it in my psych class in 1984.
Alan Wells was drawn beside Carl Lewis in the LA semi final. He headed Carl for barely 10/12 metres till Lewis breezed past him and Wells just lost interest, finished uninjured in 10.76.
There is a phenomenon where (media) expectations build up virtual enemy status between 2 opponents such that there is nothing but that in mind. When McL went passed Femke was momentarily shattered and her customary last 80-100 metres disappeared.
Otherwise she would still have had a decent 2nd place.
I guess knowing this can happen is why warriors have a war cry (bagpipes coming closer , the Haka, and numerous biblical accounts of Israel's enemies becoming confounded and losing their will to fight).
Just something to ponder but seems to me a reasonable possibilty.
Having said that I agree W/L, McLaughlin is a class act and is never a show pony. She suffers anxiety and doesn't really like to compete

Femke Bol has given us some memorable moments over the past few years, so it’s very unfortunate that she came up short at the biggest stage, in one of the most highly anticipated races of these Olympics. She simply choked. Good analysis on how all the energy was instantly drained from her once Sidney went past her around the 250m mark. If that race had been 3-4m longer, the other American in lane 8 would have caught her for the bronze. I knew Sidney would win, but expected a much closer finish, not barely hanging on to the bronze medal.
Yes, McLaughlin has been doing this at every level, steadily moving up and she’s now officially the best ever. Every interview starts by thanking Jesus and God, very humble in victory, good for her. With nothing left to prove, probably time to switch to the 400m and see what she can do there.

what Sydney has is a "I'm gonna kick your ass" mentality....Bol does not...for months she knew in this race Sydney would be beside of her or slightly ahead of her at the top of straight and yet she still collapsed mentally, she has as much talent as Sydney just not the killer instinct........

This is a cruel event where elite competitors age rapidly as far as I know only Moses and Sanchez have won back their titles with a 4 year gap. Moses was forced to boycott the 80' Games and Sanchez had the injury bug for years until he healed up in 12'. I don't know what the story was with Warholm it could be injuries or just natural aging.
I did notice that the sportsbook that I looked up the betting odds and Benjamin was the betting favorite but of course tell that to Lyles who face planted in his "baby" event and now probably will never be a 200m champion as 4 years from now he will be in his early 30's and probably past his peak.
Also like death and taxes the US men's team in the sprint relay will screw up and get dqed. That's something I should have bet on....

warholm messed up his stride pattern on the second to last hurdle, cost him the race. He reacted poorly when Benjamin was slightly ahead...

Yea, I don’t know track as well as you guys but it looks like he ran a lousy race by his standards. Another disappointment in the anti-White Olympics.
On positive note, all-White Spain beat the almost entirely African “French” team for the gold medal in men’s football. Spain is simply the best football nation in the world right now and do our people well!

Warholm has nothing left to prove. Olympic champion, Olympic silver medalist, 3 time world and European champion, world record holder and many other achievements to list. You’re correct that he’s just past his prime now. Most of these world class sprinters have a 5-7 year window in their prime to make the most of their opportunity and Warholm has obviously done that.
As the Olympics are winding down, two things stand out in the world of athletics. First is the complete disappearance of Jamaican sprinters, The most recent yam harvest must have been especially bad because they won two lousy medals, a silver and a bronze out of all the sprints they competed in.
Second is the notable underperformance of East Africans in the middle and long distances, Their women did a bit better than the men, but we saw plenty of Americans, Europeans, and North Africans take the fight to them and beat them. I hope this has helped shatter the aura of invincibility that Kenyans and Ethiopians own these events.
And a big shout out to Nadia Battocletti of Italy who won the silver in the women’s 10000m. She could be a star in the making.
So, Noah Lyles is being lauded for a “heroic” bronze medal while supposedly having COVID and a 102 degree fever. I thought the Corona virus was the most contagious, deadly virus ever. Why wasn’t he masked and quarantined? How many jabs did he have? Where’s the outrage at this selfish act of super spreading? I’m confused.

Anyone here notice that Botswana is suddenly a powerhouse in most sprints and mid distances?
The mens Javelin is almost all coloured and were those Chinese women in the shotput actually female?
Transplanted Cubans ruled the mens triple jump, Italians go crazy when their transplanted cuban gets a bronze....
Feel bad for the Italian mens 4x100m relay team as Tortu got out run for the medals as did the Japanese
Does Richard Kilty get and actual medal as he was 3rd leg in the semis...

one more thing: I feel that Doom pulled up as he was getting passed, he knew he would not progress to the next round....I do not think he tweaked or pulled a muscle....

Solid final day at the track. Gold and bronze in the men‘s 5000m, very happy for both Ingebrigsten and Grant Fisher now a double bronze medalist in the 5/10k. Two more medals in the women’s 1500m and javelin, and the Dutch women get silver in the 4x400 relay.
And Hamish Kerr of New Zealand gets the gold in the men’s high jump. I’m glad it was him and not Gianmarco Tamberi who was eliminated earlier in the competition. That Italian clown’s antics and hysterics are an absolute embarrassment and I didn’t want the world to see a white man make a fool himself in front of the whole world had he won gold.

I honestly never heard of the country before these olympics and then I saw they only won one or 2 medals ever before these games. Certainly is very suspicious
