I always thought he generally came through when it really counted. He didn't always look confident but I know from personal experience how niggles and less than perfect preparation affect confidence. Those two Bronzes (World and Olympics) showed a good deal of mental toughness

there's a youtube vid of another big 100m race he had where he beat Dwayne Chambers. When they interviewed Chambers he said something akin to "once he got past me there was nothing I could do) referring to his sheer speed

possibly only Bolt measured a higher top speed in track history. He was never the complete sprinter (taking start and initial acceleration phase into account) but his sheer top speed was something to behold for a few years there. Indeed his speed endurance shown in his 2011/2012 200metre races was great - yet bizarre that he always looked at death's door after his 200s

I'm guessing one of the buses for the German Team broke down or something. They had around 4 sprinters that didn't run including
Julian Wagner. Was hoping to see Wagner throw down a good time but both Wagner and some of the other guys did not show.

The real question is "why" If Lemaitre is going to run these kinds of times why is he competing? Is he truly looking to get into real sprinting shape and try to make the French team for the Olympics or is he just traveling?

I looked at the list of times for the meet and Lemaitre didn't come last as I initially thought. This meet was a level above an all comers meet and had 11 flat participants who were NCAA athletes.

I hope he isn't desperate to hang around in track as track has had a similar history to boxing or the former Big 4 league players kicking around low paying minor leagues desperately chasing pay cheques. Ben Johnson did this for years until he was exposed as a 11 flat shot runner and a few years ago Walter Dix was running times similar to what Lemaitre was running this weekend.

They ran many heats of the 100m, with the best runners in the 1st heat. Lemaitre came last in that heat, as you can see in the video.

Kalen Walker ran a legal 10.20 at the Desert Heat Classic yesterday for 2nd place.

There was a fast 100 at the LSU Invitational. An athlete named Hiroki Yanagita of Japan got 3rd in 10.02. This ties his PB from 2023. He's only 20 years old. If the Asians can do it, we can do it too.

Abby Steiner is contesting the 200 in the Bermuda Grand Prix. I just checked, she has not run yet.

Yes but the Asians have a huge advantage. What is that you ask? They are for the most part a racially homogeneous society that still has morals, culture, traditions, pride, etc. etc. Japan like China doesn't want the magical athletes. Hence their teams all look the same which in the long run will
for the most part provide great results. Blacks don't have a magical extra muscle in their leg or other crap we here. They have countries that have all black teams all over Africa, Jamaica, and other countries. They also have white countries that will put black athletes first. This doesn't happen in Asia so Asia will go beyond what Europe has done unless they start to import millions of non asians into their countries. This will not happen in my honest opinion. Asia will rise to the top of the sprints eventually.

actually there are several half Japanese/Black male sprinters for Japan....the latest I saw was a 400m runner...

The video is now up. Apparently it was a +4.9 wind unfortunately. All this meet's sprints had illegal winds

possibly travelling and keeping up his hobby? He could figure highly in Masters if he really has the bug again and all expectations on him are off. A 10.50 35 yo Masters athlete is in good territory

Femke Bol ran a 150 meters in 17.10 on April 28th into a -0.9 wind. Her time as she crossed the 100 meter mark was 11.47 with -0.3 wind. I don't know if it was on a curved track. Either way, that is an excellent 100 time for a 400 runner. I hope she focuses only on the hurdles at the Olympics. Would love to see her get gold and beat American media darling Sydney.

I think she will do both 400/400mh. I hope she does not do the relays even though she is the most important athlete for her team. The relays are all 4x400m and have prelims etc....that's far too many races.

I love that old mate Richard Kilty is in the GB 4 x 100m team in the Bahamas at the ripe old age of 4 months shy of 35.
It's been 10 whole years since this:

The Aussie men's 4x100 team will be quite strong even without Browning there.
Which makes me think he is having injury woes. If he can't make Paris my prediction is that he'll retire from track.
He must be qualified as a lawyer by now - this article is from last November
