An acquaintance ( not caste aware) sent me the above article asking if I felt similar to him, that the article was exhibiting favoritism for Wemby at Chet's expense.
Reading the article, it is painfully obvious that ESPN is doing exhibiting severe caste tendencies in the articles and trying to downplay Chet being superior to every other rookie , including Wemby.
They ridiculously mention that Chet being injured last year was a benefit as he had a year to study plays while Wemby had to actually play and thus, Chet is at an advantage. How is being injured and not being to play any meaningful games an advantage over some who got to play all year and receive specialized instruction and training through that time? Further, they state that Chet is more successful on the court as he is in a limited role while Wemby is struggling because his team expects to much of him.. Those who have watched both of them play recognize that Wemby is relatively struggling because HE is attempting to do too much and often chases the games at times. It's a matter of basketball IQ at this point...
I have delicately explained to my acquaintance that the NBA is all in on Wemby due to their desire to grow the game globally and such shouldn't be surprised by articles such as this. I didn't share that there is a full on caste system in sports and Wemby represents a wet dream for them. A mixed, "New European" with a self hating mother..
