oh! Schulte almost picks off the pass! Iowa’s defense holds OSU to a three-and-out field goal after the turnover on their own 29-yard line, with the secondary looking dominant on the two pass plays. it’s obviously early, but it looks like the Hawkeye defense came to play today: Stroud is 0-2 passing, and they gave up 1 yard on the lone rushing attempt.

one of the pregame commentators (the former head coach of LSU) talked about how Iowa’s defense was “one of the best coached defenses for the last ten years or so, but that secondary just doesn’t have the speed and athleticism to compete with Ohio State’s receivers.”

the caste system in a nutshell there. ignore the facts and assert the big lie over and over.

Gotta keep the lie going. DeJean is one of the most athletic players in the country as is Riley Moss.

yes, sir!!! Joe Evans with the sack, forced fumble, fumble recovery, and score! what a great start for the defense!

it’s interesting how the commentators are describing the action, however ... it’s all about the “scheme” and the “defensive coaching staff” and the “system.” nothing at all about Iowa’s defensive players being actually good players ...

Iowa’s defense responds and forces a fumble on second down, but they can’t pick it up.

Iowa's offense is pretty damned terrible
correct!

but their defense is pretty damned impressive. they hold AGAIN after the offense turns the ball over inside their own 30-yard line. force OSU to kick another field goal.

For sure. Iowa has no running game or passing game though - Ferentz really made a mistake not addressing the obvious and squandering a top 3 defense.

yes, sir. lots of holes to patch on that side of the ball ...

the defense steps up again! Iowa gives the ball to OSU on their own 34 this time (after the punter failed to run for a first down), but the Whitehawks continue to deny the Buckeyes touchdowns. they hold to another field goal.

and DeJean had perfect coverage. the announcer said “there could’ve been a flag” but he’s obviously lost his mind. PERFECT position by DeJean.

Iowa’s offense finally manage to pick up a first down, then managed to stagger down the field, and eventually connect on a 49-yard field goal.

the defense will probably have to score again, if the Whitehawks are to have any chance of winning this game.

Iowa’s offense defies all expectations and marches down the field for a 49-yard field goal! Kirk Ferentz must be really proud of his son Brian, who is the offensive coordinator for some reason. Brian might need a raise during halftime to keep the other 116 FBS teams from luring him away!

Nice. Unpopular opinion - I am rooting for Syracuse so Garret Shrader gets some recognition and make a late season Heisman push.
We have one White RB with a chance to showcase his talents in the playoffs……..I’m pulling for Clemson and Shipley

Stroud stares down receivers and looks good when he has 4-5 seconds in the pocket but under pressure he isn't impressive at all. Another Ohio St system QB.

how come these OSU wideouts aren’t running wide open?! how is the coverage so tight?! i thought Iowa’s secondary was just a bunch of “try hard guys” who “keep things simple.”

The guys were extra motivated to play their rivals so there was just a lot more preparation and film study this week!

is Shipley getting only runs up the middle again? i see he has 13 first half carries, but he hasn’t broken off a long one yet.
