We have a great Diamond League Final coming up September 8-9. Then the season is over. Warholm runs the 400h and Jacob I. goes for the 1500/5000 double. Plus Mondo in the PV and others.

I'm also looking forward to the ISTF Berlin Track Meet on September 12th. Hoping to see Julian Wagner make one last chase at getting closer to 10.00 flat! Many of the
top german sprinters should be in action or at least I hope so. No start lists yet.

In the final Diamond League tommorow we have Rohan Browning and Silvan Wicki in the mens 100 meters. I'm really impressed that Browning was able to get two invites to
Diamond League Races this season. He has arrived on the worldwide scene. Del Ponte will be in the womens 100 meters. Warholm over the 400 hurdles.

This Sunday September 12th will the the 100 Anniversary of the ISTF Berlin Track Meet. This is the final big meet of the season. Many of the
top track athletes from around the world will be there. I'm excited to see Julian Wagner compete against elite sprinters at home. Devon Allen,
Karsten Warholm and many others will be running in Berlin. Here is a good article which also gives some history of this track meet.

Its' strange but Wagner has had like 3 of his last 4 races with no wind. He finished 3rd in Berlin today in a time of 10.18 with 0 wind. Time
to get some rest for of of our guys. It's been an up and down season for many of our top sprinters.

My hilight of the year is Karsten Warholm
winning the Olympic Gold Medal in Tokyo in the 400 meters hurdles while setting his 2nd world record time of the summer!

yes, he's one worth watching in the coming season. His last PB for 100 was 10.31 in 2019 - 2/10ths better this season and consistent. Earlier this year he ran 6.59/60.
Let's see how he goes early next year in his 60 metre races to get an idea of how his 100s may go later in the year

It also talks about previous beliefs that an Asian couldn’t break 10 seconds in the 100 and Su himself is quoted referring to this as predjudice. interested to see how this pans out when applied to Asian sprinters overall. Some tallish ones but generally short powerful limbs and fast cadence. Will certainly bring a different type of physicality to the game if Su Bingtian is anything to go by.

I enjoy rooting for the Asian Sprinters as they show class and integrity. They also show pride in their ethinicty, culture and heritage. How all sprinters of any
ethinicty should be. Whites need to learn from the minorities how to preserve their culture and traditions. Not all but many whites have no sense of identity.

I see no reason why China won't continue to rise in all sports. I just don't agree with their communist govt. I feel bad for the people.

I used to feel that way about China too but the last year or has changed my mind somewhat. Say whatever you like about the Chinese but the Chinese people ahead of the rest. Their communist government structure leaves much to be desired but prior to the covid bs could anyone have imagined how illusory our freedom was?
If the Chinese continue to improve and win sprint medals in major meets I think it does a lot to demolish the stereotype of athletic superiority of you know who. It would be a welcome development. maybe not optimal, but far from the worst thing that could happen.

I try my best to look at a guy like Su as an individual person and not an extension of the country he happens to live in. I know we all have mixed feelings about China, probably most of us some bad and some good. In any case, it is kind of cool to be able to say that Carl Lewis was never as fast as the Asians.

Filippi Tortu ran a wind legal 20.11 (2.0w) 200m in Nairobi today.
He came in 3rd.
Good time, with a good, but legal wind.

Tortus time of 20.11 is the fastest time of any european sprinter this summer. Not bad for a guy that rarely runs the event.

Femke Bol is amazing. She finished the season in style!



Femke Bol ended her season with another victory in the 400m hurdles at the Gala dei Castelli in Bellinzona on Tuesday (14) evening, a World Athletics Continental Tour Silver meeting, ahead of her training partner, friend and mentor Lea Sprunger who concluded her career in front of her home fans.

Bol strode to a meeting record of 54.01 to extend her record to 11 wins from 12 races over the barriers while Sprunger drew a line under her esteemed career on a high note by finishing second in 54.53, the sixth fastest time of her career.

An interesting very late season result from Italy... Filippo Randazzo, an Italian long jumper who finished 8th at the Olympics, gave a go at the 100m and ran 10.23.
A pretty good time for a novice!
And in doing so, beat Lorenzo Patta, who ran the first leg of Italy's gold medal winning 4 x 100m relay.
Randazzo is a very good long jumper, but I wonder if he should try the 100m more seriously.

That is a pretty good time for a guy who is a lj guy. Most if not all long jumpers do 100m sprints as part of their LJ training. His block work must be quite good in order to get a low 10.23 time. His time is a very fast US high school/college time so he has some burners...

10.23 is beyond high school times. It's definitely collegiate level.
Anyway, I just wonder if he can be good enough to make it onto their relay team in place of Desalu.

Yes that's a very fast time for many sprinters whether college or worldwide. Maybe it's the pasta and the name. That would be two italian sprinters names Filippo!

In other news Bingtian Su won the China National Games in a time of 9.95.
He is a consistent sub-10 sprinter.
If he hadn't blown his wad in the semis of the Olympics, he might have won the final.
As it was, he won his semi in 9.83, beating the eventual Olympic Champion, Jacobs.
