yes, nice work by Browning and Hale. Both running well at the same time is what we need to drive them each to new heights.
I like 10.23 with a negative wind and have always wanted to see him run around 10.10 in those conditions in order to be a genuine sub 10 possibility under ideal conditions. Let's hope this is the year and that Tokyo will be the highlight of Hale and Browning's athletics careers thus far.
Browning turned 23 on New Year's eve and Hale will turn 23 in May so time to step up.

Our season proper starts now.

The above video is where they got to last year before Covid19 closed us down

Matthew Boling opened up his 2021 indoor season at the Clemson Invitational today.

Matthew Boling clocks the 2nd-fastest 60m of his career with a time of (6.70) to win! :)

Nice!!
Friday evening at Illawong track challenge Rohan ran 100m in 9.96.
Sure, it was with a +3.3 tailwind but his legs carried him that fast. According to Brian Mac's wind/altitude tables that would approximate 10.03 with a legal 2.0/mps wind
A great 2nd run of the season.
He ran a PB 6.62 /60m outdoor earlier in the evening (we don't have indoor venues in this country).

Rohan Browning ran 9.96 (+3.3) in the 100m at the Illawarra Track Challenge. The time is the fourth fastest for an Australian in all conditions. Congratulations Rohan & coach Andrew Murphy.

Browning ran a 6.55 second 60m (+0.1) which is only 0.03 seconds off the Australian 60m record held by Matt shirvington at 6.52 seconds (ran indoors) at the indoor world championship in March 1999.

the site all-time list is faulty at the moment, but I thought this was the 2nd fastest by an Australian under all conditions

It might be. I read that on Twitter and reposted it. I would guess you are right. Even in my memory I can't imagine 3 Aussie Sprinters running faster ever in all condition on Australian Soil.

I noted afresh that Rohan doesn't get ragged as Shirvo used to in the latter stages of a race, especially when being put under pressure. Hopefully this, and the fact that he's 2-3 years older than Shirvo was when it call came to him so suddenly, will mean a better progression into the athletics elites.
Rohan's had to work at it longer and he's very level headed.

So true mate. We both have followed athletics for many, many decades. Rohan Browning has everything you would want in a sprinter. He reminds me of Allan Wells with his athletecism and high iq to go with it. Even Jonathan
Edwards the world record champion triple jump holder is also similar. All I'm saying is the kid has all the tools downstairs and upstairs. I agree he stays cool under pressure where Matt Shirvington was often over thing races
and what the media or fans said about him. I will always love Shirvo but Browning is at an even higher level. I don't want to jinx the kid but I would lay a bet in Vegas if I could that he goes sub 10 wind legal this year.

another great result that slipped under the radar.
Three weeks ago our top decathlete Ashley Maloney, just 20, ran the last of the first day's decathlon events in Brisbane in 45.82 on his way to a new decathlon personal best.

Actually his winning time was 6.64, which is much more impressive.
Also he won the long jump, 24ft and 6 inches.

Abby Steiner ran an NCAA leading 22.83 200m yesterday.
She was a high school phenom, and hopefully she will be equally successful at Kentucky.

Love Abby Steiner, hopefully she keeps her head on straight, stays away from the hood culture(unlike Cunliffe) Interestingly in the photo she and runner to her left have terrible shoulder swing, it is harder to go faster when your pulling backwards. The form of the girl to her left is absolutely horrendous...lol

45.82 in a decathlon by a 20 yr old is sensational!!
10.36 into a slight negative wind, is pretty damn good too.
This kid is definitely someone to keep a close eye on!

Some good results from a meet in Brisbane, Australia.
20 yr old, Ella Connelly, ran 11.21 (2.1w) in the 100m. I think she is normally a 400m runner, so maybe she should consider switching events.
18 yr old Ellie Beer, ran 53.43 in the 400m.
And Hannah Jones ran a wind legal 13.11 (2.0) in the 100m hurdles.

Fantastic result from Ella Connelly and at such a young age. Yes they should have her run some more 100 & 200 meters races. That might be where she belongs. Australia has had such a hard time
finding good female sprinters. Their times are so below average compared to the men. At 20 years of age, Ella Connelly could possibly help change that and inspire younger girls her age to take up the sprints.

Matthew Boling (Univ of Georgia Sophmore) won the 400 meters today in the fastest time in the nation. His winning time was 45.51 which is the 2nd fastest indoor 400 meter time ever run by a Uni. of Georgia Sprinter!

Despite his immense talent from the 60, 100, 200, 400 meters and the long jump I much would prefer he stays with the 60,100 & 200 meters as his main focus. He is just so good that they want to have him compete
over all the events but this could really hurt his 100 meters times this summer. We all want to see him go sub 10 and sub 20 so bad! That should be his focus! That is where the money and the fame is! :)
