Nice list 22! As much as I love Allstot, I wish white big backs would quit wearing fullback numbers. It just helps pigeon hole them even more.

TJ McDaniel (SO) 5’11” 194lbs SMU
Highly regarded RB coming out of high school, McDaniel has shown some flashes and won the starting job in 2020 before suffering a season ending injury. 101-533-4 in the limited action he has gotten. Had over 150 yards and 3 TD’s in his college debut in 2019!
upload_2021-7-11_9-25-40.jpeg

Tyler Lavine (JR) 5’11” 220lbs SMU
Lavine and McDaniel team up with another RB to form a solid trio for SMU. Lavine actually started his career with Army before coming to SMU and earned a lot of playing time in 2020 with McDaniel injured. 61 carries for 310 yards and 5 TD’s in 2020. 1 TD in 2019. Big bruising RB with some receiving skills as well.

Thanks for the solid additions Red Raider = that Texas connection again!...Sure hoping TJ McDaniel can have a bounce back season after the injury! Had high hopes for him coming out of HS! Work him into the rotation ; Oklahoma transfers QB Tanner Mordecai & TE Grant Calcaterra; that could be a potent offense for SMU!

You are welcome El Gringo(thanks for CRAZY Lavine clip too) & White Lightning...glad y'all like the thread!

Cooper Lutz (rs Soph.) 6'- 0 205 Syracuse
Leonardfan has an excellent Syracuse 2020 Preview thread....ex WR turned RB; 43 att/246 yds rushing & TD (5.7 avg per carry)....114 yards on just 7 carries vs. Notre Dame; long of 80 near the end of game! The Orange Men need to find a way to get Lutz on the field.
80 yard TD vs Notre Dame
https://twitter.com/CuseFootball/status/1335358569911300098

This article actually has Lutz 2nd team RB on Depth Chart w his receiving skills.
https://www.nunesmagician.com/2021/7/12/22573610/get-to-know-your-orange-man-24-rb-cooper-lutz
How’d he get here?: Lutz only gathered three other offers from Army, Columbia, and Navy.
What’d recruiting sites say?: Three stars from 247sports and ESPN, two stars from Rivals. We need to do something about this Rivals disrespect.
Money quote: If you didn’t think that Lutz could keep his spot on the two-deep with Adams and Howard returning, Babers realizes not only his skill, but also his unique football IQ.
Jarveon Howard and Abdul Adams return to the team having contributed in previous seasons, but Lutz “sees something that normally guys don’t see,” Babers said.

“Sean has it as well, but you didn’t know that Cooper had it,” Babers said. “I think Cooper is really good. I think people look at him and go, ‘ahh, I don’t know,’ but if you just watch the production and watch what he does, I think those two guys are really good.

Here Lutz is vs. Walk-on phenom freshman Nick Andersen (Wake Forest) last season/

usa_today_15138417.0.jpg

Jackson McChesney (Fr. or Soph.?) 6'-0 205 BYU (same size as Lutz & Epstein)
2021 says he's "healthy & ready to get after it" ; Twitter link listed 3rd team; but nowhere to be found on Our Lads depth chart
2020 ...suffered season ending injury first game of the season vs. Navy (11 carries 56 yards & TD)
2019....Monster game vs. U.Mass 228 yards rushing on 15 carries All time Freshman BYU record & 2 TD's (long 62).
Highly-touted prospect who was recruited by Alabama, Auburn, Notre Dame, and Oregon.

Some top flight FCS RB's up next ....

Zane Dudek (Sr.) 5'-9" 200 Yale
2021 Yale roster not updated yet; Caste Football long time favorite by many; needs a opportunity in the NFL
2020 Ivy League was cancelled unfortunately
Career....2,267 yards rushing ; 26 TD's + 58 rec & 441 yds & TD
Monster Freshman season in 2017....led Ivy League 1,133 yards & 15 TD's; limited in 18' due to injury
dudek_zane.jpg

Josh Davis ( Jr.) 5'-9" 195 Weber State
Enters 2021 Fall season ranked 4th in school history in career rushing yards 2,884 yards & 21 TD's. Also 8th in history; career all-purpose yards with 3,711.
This past Spring played in 4 games; Led the Big Sky in rushing at 96.2 yards per game.(missed last 2 games/ankle injury) Hopefully still plenty in tank for this Fall !

I can’t wait to watch every single carry I possibly can from these guys.
Along with the McCaffrey brothers and whatever happens to Plumlee.
Samson Evans hopefully gets a bunch of carries for Eastern Michigan.
Ed McCaffrey has Matt Dudek for Northern Co. (Along with Dylan Mc)
Can Brady Schipper grab some of Groshek’s carries at Wisconsin?
I’m rooting for Cooper Jewitt to find carries for Nebraska.
Brody Belt switched to receiver last year (Nebraska depth)

I’ll do some research, I know we’re forgetting a few guys.....
Let’s kick ass this year...

Yes indeed! Thanks for the reply Rocky B. Always good to have your expertise..... Know we are missing some diamonds in the rough; had to be more than was just posted. Slim pickings in one sense; but decent numbers compared to the 20 year status quo.

....Was wondering WHICH POSITION to include John Rhys Plumlee?? No doubt there is a spot for him in the NFL like swiss-army-knife Julian Edelman.....Slot WR/ Running Back / QB....Play Corner Back in a pinch ; what will he do with baseball?
.....Samson Evans is listed 2nd Team in the Athlon's publication
....Brady Schipper is listed 3rd team RB for Wisconsin..hopeful he can get into the Badger RB rotation!
....Will keep an eye on rs-Fr. walk-on Cooper Jewitt ...not on the 5 deep Our Lads...hopefully can make the most of his limited opportunities
.....Can not find Matt Gadek on Northern Colorado 2021 Roster . Wonder what's up?
.....Luke McCaffrey briefly played Tailback last season at Nebraska; is plenty capable!

RB (Sr.) Baden Pinson 5'-10" 210 Transferred from FBS Coastal Carolina to D 2 Tiffin (Ohio)...that actually produced an NFL RB years ago Chris Ivory

Chad Magyar (Sr.) 6'-2" 215 UNLV
Injured in 2020 only played in three games...how far down the Depth Chart is he?
18'...2nd team on Depth Chart& 2nd on team in rushing 369 yards rushing (5.3 avg per carry) ((rushed career high 116 yards on 22 carries & TD vs. SEC /Vanderbilt))
Magyar_at_Vandy_by_Lucas_.jpg

Samson Evans (Soph.) 6'-0 218 Eastern Michigan ....... Iowa transfer....
2020 rushed for 201 yards on 41 attempts & TD (4.9 avg) + 6 rec for 46 yards,,,hoping for a break out season in the MAC!

Casey Filkins.....Stanford
Has all the talent but is buried on the depth chart.
Highly recruited, not sure how his career will pan out....
Mediocre talent ahead of him.
Shaw is fair, so we shall see.....

So Baden Pinson transferred down to D-II. That's too bad. I do remember watching Coastal Carolina last year and being frustrated that he never played. I wish him luck at Tiffin.

He was my dark horse, player to watch last year.
Every year there’s a Patrick Laird that comes out of nowhere.
Who can it be this year?

A few notes from my Saturday night research....
Jason Williamson...Minnesota recruit retires from injuries...Could’ve been a stud
Josh Foley, former NM Gatorade POY is playing for New Mexico
Cole Gest has one more year with Akron. Not sure if he’ll get many carries....
Luke Skokna....North Dakota has potential.

If you're wondering whatever happened to TJ McDaniel, here's an interesting article about his recovery from a broken leg.
Instead of getting surgery as is standard, he chose instead to be treated by electrical stimulation.
"Surgery would have entailed a standard recovery of four to six months, followed by a return to football. Now, more than a year later, McDaniel remains sidelined and may never play football again."

We were wondering about McChesney....
Glad to hear he’s third on the depth chart and that he’s healthy.
The other guys aren’t old, that’s the problem.
So he sits. Ugghhh

Good article...
I’m going to look for Bruce Garrett news.
He had to have picked a transfer school by now.

McChesney rushes for a school record and the next game he doesn’t play at all?? He should have transferred immediately! I can’t imagine any black runningback putting up with that.

Him being a Mormon and all probably keeps him more loyal to BYU then they deserve. However, if were to transfer would any programs even show interest. Utah St maybe?

Yeah the big schools probably wouldn’t one of the smaller schools like Idaho st nearby would. Go there rush for 1500 yards a season and maybe turn some heads. It’s better than riding the pine and being disrespected.
