Since '05, the Pitt Panthers have started 8, 8, 8, 9, 9, 11, 11, 10, 9, 7, 8, 6, 10, 4, and 6 Whites. They are projected to start 6 again in 2021.
Pitt football defines mediocrity, as does their coach Pat Narduzzi, now in his seventh season. He's made a number of inexcusable decisions when it comes to strategy including clock management. It never fails to amaze me how the art of the two-minute offense has almost totally disappeared thanks to the dumbing down of America, including football coaches.
For the eleven year span covering 2010 through 2020, Pitt never finished worse than 5-7 or better than 8-5. The program has struggled since a great run starting in 1976 when they won the national championship under Johnny Majors, and then after Majors abruptly left, a five-year run under Jackie Sherrill when the team went 50-9, which coincided to a great degree with Dan Marino's tenure there.
Football mad Western Pennsylvania produces lots of White high school talent at all positions, but running backs, receivers and defensive backs are almost never recruited by Pitt (and Penn State or anyone else). I've written in the High School forum about local powerhouse Pine-Richland, which has won two state championships in recent years yet whose star players are always studiously ignored by recruiters and the alleged "scouting services." Pine-Richland until recently was coached by former Pitt star Eric Kasperowicz and should have been a strong feeder school for Pitt. Instead the school district's "woke" board fired Kasperowicz several months ago, which caused quite the uproar in support of the fired coach, to no avail. Kasperowicz has since filed a libel suit against the school board.
Of the six starters, five started last year; Owen Drexel replaces last year's starter at center, Jimmy Morrissey. QB Kenny Pickett is a redshirt senior and stands a good chance of being drafted next year.
The only other White players on the two-deep offense are linemen.
On defense, LB John Petrishen is the only other paleface besides starting tackle Devin Danielson:

TE: Lucas Krull
DT: Devin Danielson
