Bowl season kicked off today.

MTSU defeated Toledo.

Northern Illinois facing off against Coastal Carolina now. Lots to watch in this game - both QBs - Lombardi and McCall, CC LBs and DBs and of course N. Illinois RB Clint Ratkovich

MTSU has a backup sophomore quarterback that isn’t a very good thrower ... but is a better runner than any of their tailblacks. his name is Delileo or something similar. he’s big (bigger than two of their featured running blacks), fast (he appears to be faster than his darker backfield mates), and elusive, but he must have the wrong *cough* skill set to be a featured runner (his productivity is a lie, i guess), because “the best players play.”

i’d enjoy seeing a creative minded coach use players like this as tailbacks to utilize their talent to the fullest, because they would be difficult to matchup against because of their dynamic running ability and keep-you-honest passing skills.

of course, i doubt it’ll ever happen due to herd mentality and Caste System dogma.

Tackling optional amongst these affletes in the Appalachian State Vs Western Kentucky matchup. Pathetic attempts at Defense.

The announcer said something to the effect of if you are a fan of tackling this isn't the game for you. Just excusing the players on the field from the fundamental ability football is built around.

Yup! I'm glad all those DBs can run real fast in tights though! I guess they don't teach them to tackle in the hotbed of talent that is South Florida.

All of the hype around the number 1 recruit going to a HBCU is hilarious. I do hope more of them decide to go that route.

I suppose that is big news. I just don't give a damn about HBCUs when nearly every program is a "Black College" now. I'd agree and say yeah let the student affletes go that route. Maybe a few more pale faces get recruited instead lol.

Brice and Zappe are having a pretty good duel.

Zappe just threw his 60th TD of the season! Tying Joe Burrow for All Time Record.

Yep Bailey Zappe is now the all time FBS leader in single season passing yards and TD’s. 5967 yards and 62 TD’s! Joe Burrows record didn’t last long.

He broke the record with number 62 as well.
On another note Appalachian St. RB Anderson Castle got 6 carries for 54 yards and an 8 yard TD. I don't know if he'll ever get a chance to be a full time starter there, but if not I wish he'd transfer. He looks really good every time I've seen him play.

Carolina Speed didn't Castle play at Watauga? It is the coldest place in N.C. to play a high school football game.

Good to hear Castle got some carries late in the game. I agree @Carolina Speed . He's got some talent! Flashes when called upon.

EXACTLY Red Raider! Was not expecting Burrow's TD Record broken so quickly! Props to Bailey Zappe 422 yards & 6 TD's ....but disappionted in App. State Defense; made of swiss cheese
.....thanks for including Middle Tenn Reed Blankenship's final career stats in DB 2021 Thread! Announcer Boogar McFarland Said "he'd be playing in the NFL" ....My question what round does he go in? 3rd? 4th? No way he should last past 5th round....

Had a rough day with the Bowl pick contest; sometimes hard to tell which team wants to be there or which one does not want to be there. Toledo should be ashamed of themselves for losing to a team starting thier 3rd string QB! What's up with BYU losing to UAB?

After 8 games in two days ....

Chase Brice (App St) 317 yards 4 TD's ...
Grayson McCall (Coastal Carolina) 315 yards 4 TD's + 40 yards rushing...really a good QB!
Jake Haener (Fresno) 286 yards & TD...Came back from Transfer Portal

Cole Tucker (No.Ill) 6 rec 87 yards & TD
(RS Fr) Jacob Bernard (UL-L) 2 rec 59 yards .....speedster Peter LeBlanc did not play (hurt?)
Brandon Bowling (Utah St) 4 rec 51 yards $ TD //// Derek Wright 3 - 33
Thomas Hennigan (App St) 5 rec 47 yards....not sure if he will be Drafted in the late rounds? But would like to see him stick on an NFL Roster even if he's undrafted

Anderson Castle (App St) 54 yards rushing 6 carries & TD....thanks for the feedback Carolina Speed!
Samson Evans (EMU) 52 Yards 13 carries & TD
Clint Ratkovich (No.Ill) 13 yards 6 carries & TD + 2 Rec 11 yards

BYU TE/H-Back Masen Wake 3 - 55 showed some big time ability hurdling defender @6'-1" 250lbs (ESPN #10 play of the Day)
WR Gunner Romney 3 - 55 .....rainy conditions didn't help ....not sure if 100% healthy?

UAB TE Gerritt Prince 4 - 43 ...2 TD's

Was watching the App State game yesterday and the announcers were saying how they’re certain Thomas Hennigan will get a shot in the NFL. I think Hennigan would be a good pick on day 3, he has the size, can play inside or out, can play special teams, and return kicks. Very sound player who isn’t going to wow you very often but isn’t going to make mistakes either. I doubt he will get drafted but I think he certainly should get drafted.

Size wise and skill wise. Reminds me of Kevin Walter!

I watch the D 2 championship game between Ferris State and Valdosta State. Ferris State had the best option QB I've seen in years. His name was Jake Bernhardt. He was the winner of the Lacrosse player of the year in D 1 at Maryland. He had one year of college left so he transferred to Ferris State and led them to a 13 -0 record and the D 1 championship. He rushed 14 times for 148 yds he didn't play the second half. He is an amazing athlete who rushed for over 4 thousand yds in high school but was recruited for lacrosse.

Nice! I caught the 2nd half of the blowout and was a bit disappointed both teams without a White QB. Didn't have a clue about Bernhardt!

Thanks for the D2 head's up booth!

Entertaining Potato Bowl so far .....Kent St had the lead 17-7 early; 24 - 21 @ Half...
Wyoming as answered w 2 TD's in 3rd Qtr to go up 35-24

Wyoming QB Levi Williams showing the wheels on a 50 Yard TD earlier....98 yards on 13 carries & 3 TD's so far in 3 qtrs!

LB Chad Muma was highlighted as 4th Leading Tackler in the Nation. NFL/Bengals Logan Wilson was mentioned
Ex walk-on D -End Garrrett Krall is a difference maker!

A big fan of Kent St QB Dustin Crum ...52 yards rushing 10 carries & TD ; (Sacks count for - negative yards ; unlike NFL) ; + 140 yards passing so far; had been limbing some ...

These QB’s are putting on a show! Didn’t realize Williams could run like that, especially at 6’5”!
