Since ’05, Boston College has started 10, 12, 13, 12, 13, 12, 11, 14 11 13, 13, 13, 10, 12, 10 AND 7 Whites. In 2021 they are projected to start an all time low of 5.

Last year when doing this write-up I seemed a little bit optimistic for the new head coach Jeff Hafley. A year certainly changes things. Hafley had a stint at Ohio St under Ryan Day and it's clear he just a disciple of the OSU Caste System methods (just like Luke Fickell). I did a check of his Class of 2022 recruiting class - 4/22 recruits are white - 2 OT, 1 TE and Punter. Just like Ryan Day and Luke Fickell he has a non-white QB in the pipeline as well. His three commits for 2023 are all black as well. I think it's safe to say Boston College is headed towards days of low single digit white starters.

QB Phil Jurkovec is receiving positive preseason hype at least. With a strong season he may end up climbing the draft boards - 1st round potential is there.

There are alot of white holdovers on defense from the previous coaching staff. I am not too optimistic for any of their chances at BC moving forward.

Players to watch for include QB Dennis Grosel, QB Emmett Morehead, TE Joey Luchetti, LB Vinny DePalma, DE Jake Byczko (UMASS Transfer), DT Ryan Betro, LB Vinny DePalma, LB Nick DeNucci, LB Joe Sparacio. BC has a few DBs - Cole Batson (3 star), Connor Greico and Steve Lubischer - not sure if any will get playing time. It seems that even FS Mike Palmer is not a sure thing to be a starter.

Offense
QB - Phil Jurkovec
TE - Trae Barry
RT - Ben Petrula
C - Alec Lindstrom
LT - Tyler Vrabel

Defense
FS Mike Palmer**position battle

Gross! Hafley was a name linked to the Michigan non-opening last year, mostly due to his history with Ohio State. Can't wish him much success with this roster. I don't expect his black defensive coordinator and "associate head coach" to help matters of racial fairness, either.

It's easy to forget that Boston College is the biggest P5 program in New England, with only Syracuse and UConn as sizable competitors northeast of New York City. There is a lot of high school football played in these very white regions and therefore a lot of local players ignored by the coaching staff. Eyeballing the roster, it looks like half the players come from outside this footprint.

You said it all. They could be a winning program year after year if they simply recruited the best NE and NY had to offer. Heck, it’s not like anyone else is running out to recruit all these great White players.

Sounds like Jurkovec is done for the year with a wrist injury/surgery

Phil Jurkovec will return. Smart decision as he missed more than half the season with an injury and when he returned he did not seem completely healthy. One to watch for in 2022 at QB
