I've been watching some of the Australian Open. No Federer and Nadal got knocked out after being up two sets in the quarterfinals. I'm rooting for DJokovic. If he wins he will have 18 Grand Slams.

In other news on the womens side Serena loses in the semifinals.

I saws the Osaka vs Williams match and it was obvious she is a step better in all facets of the game at this point in their careers. Right now Brady is in a dog fight with Muchova and the winner of this match will be a dog against Osaka.

White American Jennifer Brady has made it through to the Australian Open Finals. She is 25 years old and very powerfully built at 5'10. Maybe she can give Osaka a good match. It's refreshing to finally see a white american female
tennis player in a Grand Slam Final. It's been a long time. Let's hope for the best but either way this is a step in the right direction for her confidence. Hopefully the U.S. has many younger types to be more competetive down the road.

Who was the last White American girl to reach the finals of a major other than the Russian-born Kenin? Jennifer Capriati maybe as White is Right noted. They've all been black for a long time now. Jennifer Brady is almost 26 so she's probably not going to be a superstar, but good luck to her against Osaka. Meantime the Hulking Linebacker once again fails to tie Margaret Court's slam mark of 24, pretty amazing how she's been thwarted time and again the past few years in the semis and finals despite her manly strength.

Andy Roddick was the last American man to win a slam, and that was back in 2003.

As expected, Djokovic has made it into the finals where he will face Daniil Medvedev of Russia who beat Tsitsipas in straight sets. Tsitsipas had outlasted my favorite, Rafael Nadal, in 5 sets in the quarterfinals so I had thought that Tsitsipas would have put up more of a fight in the semifinal.

I think that Djokovic will be able to beat the Russian 'Bear'; however, Medvedev has beaten Djokovic 3 out of their last 4 matches including last year's ATP finals. This should be a good match and maybe even the beginning of the end for the dominance of the big 3(I don't count the 2020 US Open where Dominic Thiem won because neither Nadal or Federer played).

Interestingly, all 8 of the quarterfinalists at the AO are from Europe; 6 from Eastern Europe and 2 from Southern Europe: Rublev, Medvedev, Karatsev, and Zverev from Russia(Zverev was born in Germany to Russian parents), Dimitrov from Bulgaria, Djokovic from Serbia, Tsitsipas from Greece and Nadal from Spain.

Certainly one of the reasons tennis has fallen off in popularity is the lack of US players at the top. The sport seems to be dying in the US. All the courts around me are shut down, they were never used anyway. It’s like baseball fields. Crumbling and overgrown with weeds. Mostly used by foreigners kicking soccer balls around.

Osaka beats Brady in straight sets in the final. I didn't watch a lot of it but from I did it appeared Brady needed more precision on her power shots as she has a lot of power. It was a big stage and she certainly acquitted herself well the entire tournament.

There were a number of fans in the stands, surprising given that Australia has been one of the leading prison states when it comes to lockdowns. Looked like the arena was about half filled.

I don't follow tennis but read some about Osaka. It sounds like she is actually more Japanese then black culturally being based out of Japan where her mother is from and where she was raised. It's also interesting she has her mother's last name. Obviously the only angle like with ever half-black athlete the only part of her background that is pushed is the black part because as the Caste System seeps into society the Globohomos have decided that you have an advantage and are oppressed at the same if your skin is brown. That is pretty much a universal truth at this point. She's on the bogus BLM bandwagon too so that is another reason to not pay her any mind.

I could not stay up to watch, but I saw that Djokovic defeated Medvedev in straight sets. I am driving today, but I will watch the replay when I get home as it will be repeated several times over the next few days on more than one channel.

Your remembrance of Tsonga back in 2008 is similar to how the media acts towards Frances Tiafoe today; I have not seen Tiafoe win any important matches lately; however, I remember that he would tear his shirt off after a big victory a year or two ago and the media would laud his exuberance and playful nature(while admiring his physique), even McEnroe asked Nadal once why he didn't tear his shirt off also after a victory. Nadal just looked at McEnroe as though he couldn't believe that he had just been asked such an idiotic question, finally he mumbled something in response.

Still Tiafoe receives enormous media attention even today, although he is now 23 and ranked 63 in the world before the AO. Taylor Fritz, another American , is also 23 and ranked 32 in the world, but somehow he doesn't quite receive the same amount of attention. Well, you know the rest of the story.

One thing I love about him. He took a strong stand on the covid vaccine back when if was still in the labs. He said he would never take it and that his family wouldn't either. Who it to say he wasn't punished for that statement and his beliefs that so many of us
around the world agree with. It took alot of courage to stand against the masters that control everything. It gave me even more respect for the man. Congrats to Djokovic and I hope he goes on to become the greatest male tennis player of all time!
