Below is a discussion along with a video of the race. A 10.18 time isn't going to get anyone jumping up and down but I swear Tortu was asleep the first 50 or so meters. Watch below and you might agree he looked like a guy struggling to get out of bed first thing in the morning at the beginning of the race.
Work on your start Tortu and who knows what possibilities lie ahead?

Thanks for posting the video and analogy of the race. Just in case you didn't know this, Tortu already has a lifetime personal best time of 9.99 legal and he is only 22 years of age. He just turned 22 in June so his career is just getting started. He won't hit his
peak as a sprinter for another 5 to 7 years! I expect him to go faster than Guliyev (9.97pb)and Lemaitre(9.92pb) in the coming years. He will never be near as good a 200 meter sprinter as either of those guys are though. The only white sprinter on earth that could have better potential in the next decade as of right now is Matthew Boling. Even then it's way to early to say for sure as Guliyev ran 19.76 pb over 200 meters and Lemaitre ran 19.80 pb! Those times are amazing!

And Rohan browning will break ten ...as will devin Quinn ...of this I have no doubt .....and both are really white .......so let’s not be claiming anybody .....or why bother with “ castefootbal.us” ....is it not to support white athletes ....not non black athletes ....
A little disappointing given the altitude and competition. He should be at 10.10 or better. He ran 10.12 a month ago.

Jakob Ingebrigtsen’s time eclipsed Mo Farah’s European record of 3:28.81 which was set in the same stadium seven years ago and the teenager moves to eighth on the world all-time list which is still headed by Hicham El Guerrouj’s world record of 3:26.00. To put this into perspective this 19 year old teenager is within 2 1/2 seconds of the world record. Again I repeat he is 19 years of age. Amazing talent we are witnessing on the world wide stage. Possibly the greatest 1500 meter in the history of the world when all is said and done.

A couple of noteworthy performances that haven't been mentioned yet:
Max Burgin, 18, of Britain ran 1:44.75 800 meters last week, which is an European Junior record.
Max was also the European U18 champion in 2018 as a 16 yr old, finishing almost 2 full seconds ahead of his competitors.
Every year he keeps improving and setting records. Definitely one for the future.
Also in the 800m, American Byrce Hoeppel, 22, just ran a PB of 1:43.23 in Monaco.
That makes him 7th on the US all-time list.
He narrowly finished 2nd behind the World Champion Donovan Brazier, so this really shows that he is now a top level 800m runner, ready to compete for the medals at the Olympics.
Looking for big things from both of these guys in the future.

If there is one next year, I hate to be a Negative Nancy but if the pandemic situation is similar to what it is now then there won't be any games and they could in theory be pushed back to 22' as the Winter Olympics are in that year but anything beyond that and the 20'Olympic cycle is kaput.....

16 yr old Elvira Tanderud ran 11.54 and 23.69 this past week in Sweden. Her pbs are 11.52 and 23.62, set in July. Incredible times for a 16 year old!!
I checked for photos and she appears to be a 'pocket rocket', i.e., small. I imagine we will see her on the podium at the next Euro U18 Championships.

It's good to see Adam Gemili running again on a regular basis. With the Covid situation, so many of our athletes have not raced much and are not in that good shape even now. Gemili has personal bests of 9.97 over 100 meters and 19.97 over 200 meters! He
is a threat to medal at any major champs over both distances when he is in proper form. These times are slow for him but next summer I espect to see him back running elite times again and being a factor at the Olympics.

Took around three minutes but I am totally obsessed with Alica Schmidt. Because her legs are so long I thought she was six feet or taller. But she is actually only 5'7". Her build seems better suited for 400 meters or even 800 meters. But for her I will break precedent. Typically I prefer the shorter sprints but in her case the most important thing is she makes the Olympic team and becomes a fixture on TV. She doesn't do us much good if she isn't competing on the big stage. So in her case I would actually prefer she run the 1500 meters because it would give me more time to look at her. Yes it is official. She is inside my head!
