Since 2006, Texas Tech has started 7, 9, 8, 10, 7, 8, 5, 4, 7, 5, 6, 8, and 6. In 2020 there will be 9 white starters, which is the most since 2009.
The offense is highlighted by talented but often-injured Alan Bowman, who has two talented slot receivers in Dalton Rigdon and McLane Mannix who are 2 of the top 3 fastest players on the team. Mannix struggled in 2019 while Rigdon shined until he took a cheap shot that sidelined him for the final few games. RB Jax Welch could’ve been a contributor but he decided to leave the team to focus on law school. The snow plow OL is headlined by future NFL players Jack Anderson and Dawson Deaton who are some of the best TTU OL in recent memory. On defense look for Eli Howard to continue making plays in the backfield and Colin Schooler to be a menace like he has been his entire career. Texas Tech has tremendous depth on offense but is lacking on the defensive side.
Players to watch:
QB Maverick McIvor, QB Henry Columbi, WR McLane Mannix, WR/KR Caden Leggett, WR Sterling Galban, TE John Holcomb, TE Simon Gonzalez (white/Mexican mix), TE/FB Connor Killian, C Will Farrar, OG Connor Franks, OT Troy Bradshaw, OT Landon Peterson, OT Casey Verhulst, OT Zach Adams, LB Christian LaValle
QB Alan Bowman (SO)
WR Dalton Rigdon (JR)
LT Ethan Carde (SO)
LG Weston Wright (SO)
C Dawson Deaton (JR)
RG Jack Anderson (JR)
RT Josh Burger (SR)
DE Eli Howard (SR)
LB Colin Schooler (SR)
