Since 2005, Stanford has started 11, 14, 14, 14, 15, 14, 13, 9, 9, 12, 14, 14, 13, 11. Last season saw a significant drop to only 7. This year at 8.

Fluid situation...not a fan of Ourlads Depth Chart ; no depth chart i really like; season doesn't start til November ; so will be sure to update.

With a shortened season in the PAC 12; will have to be even more patient with the young promising WR's getting playing time ,waiting behind the veterans. In a full season would expect at least highly rated John Humphreys make an impact later on ! Will be curious what RB Casey Filkins (Fr.) can do in the future.

Players to watch:
QB Jack West; QB Tanner McKee; RB Casey Filkins (Fr.) ;WR Colby Bowman (Soph.) 6'-2" 197 ; WR Bryce Farrell (Fr.) 5'-11" 175 ; John Humphreys (Fr.) 6'-5" 210; TE Tucker Fisk ; TE Benjamin Yurosek ; FB Jay Symonds

Defense has been a disappointment ; only 1 white starter ( and 1 Samoan) ; returning leading tackler ILB Andrew Pryts is in the Transfer Portal. Strong Safety Stuart Head started 6 games last year ; did ok ; but struggled at times. Hopefully he steps up! CB Ethan Bonner listed as a Junior ; has not played much ; but could still be redshirted from previous seasons (confusing situation)

OFFENSE
QB Davis Mills
TE Scooter Harrington
LT -Walker Little (Opted out for NFL Sept 10th)
LG- Barrett Miller
C - Drew Dalman
RG - Branson Bragg
RT - Foster Sarell (Korean roots)

DEFENSE
DE Thomas Shaffer

Other Players to watch
SS Stuart Head (started 6 games last year) ; CB Ethan Bonner ; ILB Anson Pulsipher (Fr)

(Transfer Portal)
ILB Andrew Pryts
DE Dylan Boles

Class of 2021 so far.... DB Mitch Leigber ; DE Zach Buckey ; DE Anthony Franklin

Leave it to TwentyTwo ( splendid write up) to capture the "confusion" surrounding this roster. Stanford has a lot of diamond white skill players who appear to be struggling to rise to the surface.

Their wide receiver situation is instructive. While Bryce Farrell is fairly highly rated both Colby Bowman and John Humphreys had a top of the charts rating coming out of high school. But there is more to this story.

Colby Bowman and Washington sophomore WR Austin Osborne were considered strong players with good size (6'2-"-6'3") who offered a deep threat. Yet neither has emerged at least not yet. There has been very little "buzz" surrounding them at least to this point.

Then there is the highly rated swift group from the Ed McCaffrey school of 6'5" smoothies who can get deep and torture defenses. These would include sophomores Kory Taylor from Purdue and Caleb Chapman from Texas A& M. And of course newcomer John Humphreys. While it is too early to guesstimate how soon Stanford will utilize the dynamic Humphreys, Purdue has buried the 4.4 40 Taylor on their depth chart. The only good news regarding the receivers above is Caleb Chapman, who looks poised to have a break out season?

Sad to see this team fall like this. They used to be stocked with front 7 guys on defense. Hopefully Bonner and Head both get playing time in the secondary.

Stanford redshirt junior DB Stuart Head has entered the NCAA transfer portal.
Head announced via Twitter that he will opt out of the 2020 season and look at transfer options. Head started the back-half of last season for the Cardinal, picking up 39 tackles and two pass breakups along the way. The 6-foot-4, 204-pound safety was a three-star recruit in Stanford's 2017 signing class.

This dude was pretty overrated last year. Maybe Bonner will get a shot now.

Stanford redshirt junior CB Paulson Adebo is opting out of the 2020 season and entering the NFL Draft.

Adebo (6'1/190) suffered an undisclosed season-ending injury in 2019 after delivering a standout 2018. In light of his previous serious injury it makes sense that he would want to protect himself from another such ailment. The former All Pac'12 selection started Stanford's first nine games last year, accounting for 33 total tackles, four interceptions and 10 pass breakups. With a return to a strong combine showing, Adebo will have a shot at being a Day 1 selection in the 2021 NFL Draft.
