I honestly wish CM would get out if Carolina who, in my prediction, is full in caste and going down the gutter (reminiscent of how Houston turned out). CM will be like JJ Watt - a HOF talent wasted in a caste cesspool.
The Houston comparison is more than an
apt comparison. The similarities surrounding the circumstances of these two teams are
eerie.
Too bad missing member Truthteller isn't around. He would delineate the situation in vivid detail.
Keep in mind while Houston at one time was less caste than most teams that had slowly changed over the years. And even when the Panthers featured three certifiable stars in Kuechly, Olsen and CM many here at CF rooted against them ( not me ) because they were decidedly caste elsewhere.
In the fall of October 2017 Bob McNair the longtime owner of the Texans caught a lot of guff for a pretty tame comment about the "inmates running the prison." The media pushback was predictable and he was raked over the coals. This incident only accelerated the Texans caste pursuit. He died in 2018 and his wife took over. The rest is history.
A couple of months later after Bob McNair's inmate comment longtime Panthers owner Jerry Richardson was the target of a Sports Illustrated hit piece that accused him of using sexually suggestive language and racial slurs. As this story gained legs Richardson was described as someone who also use to leer at women. That apparently is a crime now in our new Puritanical society. But of course it was the racial stuff that the media pounced on the most and the NFL, based on private talk no less, decided to suspend Richardson. Beyond ridiculous. But that got the ball rolling and they couldn't get his ass out of town fast enough. In the spring of 2018 in came wealthy David Tepper with the promise of a "change in culture." You just knew that wasn't going to end up being appealing. Over the next couple of years Kuechly retired and Olsen ended up in Seattle. And the last non caste remnant was CM.
Tepper hired a caste bent young coach Matt Rhule who proved his caste credentials with arguably the most caste draft this year. All black defenders. Now to be fair they did give CM a groundbreaking ( and deserving ) contract. But like JJ Watt with the Texans the Panthers have CM as their lone white superstar surrounded by a wall of caste players.
Are these teams going to remain forever hell bent on casting up their rosters? Only time will tell but the early returns don't suggest much promise.
