I think playing Stidham was a win, win for the Patriots, if he was the goods he would be long term solution if he face planted the Patriots would be set up to grab a player near the top of the board. With the semi shot Newton they are in 7 and 9 to 9 and 7 territory which is a no mans land territory where you get a middle of the pack prospect and only a mediocre first round level qb...
Scam's decline is obvious - he has been in decline for the past few years. He was a hail mary for BB to try and stoke his ego to prove he could win without Brady right away using a different offense. For as much as Aikman and Buck brought up Goff in his super bowl loss against the Pats they never once mention Scam and his long decline from his lone super bowl appearance in which he did not recover that fumble - one of the bigger choke plays in SB history.
Maybe with a full preseason/training camp experience Stidham would of been the guy but rather than take his lumps during the season (which all QBs do) BB opted for the perceived path of least resistance.
