Made some updates to the Shrine Game list.

Another QB note - Jacob Eason needs to stay in Washington for his senior year and put it all together - he is not ready to declare yet.

Agreed. He's had a good first year as a starter for UW but could use another year to fine tune his skill set. He'd be the best QB In Pac 12 with Herbert gone and Top 5 in Nation.

With Tua injured though he might be tempted by NFL..

So far so good as far as The Shrine Game roster looks. A couple more LBs would be nice.

Pretty unbelievable that he has only been invited to the third rate NFLPA Collegiate bowl so far. Hopefully he gets a shrine bowl/senior bowl invite. In a league littered with sumo mediocrity I had Throkmorton pegged as a 3rd round player at the worst.

Oregon senior T Calvin Throckmorton has accepted his invitation to play in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl.
Throckmorton (6'6/318) is known for his versatility, as he was the only FBS lineman in 2018 to start at four different positions on the offensive line - RT, C, RG, LT. He has allowed only one sack over his last 31 games and has made 38 consecutive starts for the Ducks. Throckmorton was graded as the best tackle in the Pac 12 and seventh best in the nation by Pro Football Focus, so it's interesting to see such a highly decorated player not being invited to the Senior Bowl. Throckmorton's stock has dropped from his stellar 2018 and is now viewed as a Day 2 or 3 NFL Draft prospect.

This won't shock anybody but the chances of a white wide receiver getting drafted this year is remote. I would be surprised if one got invited to the combine.

Notre Dame's Chris Finke perhaps the one with the best shot has been ignored for large clumps of the season in fact in their last game against Stanford he was totally invisible. He does offer the added benefit of being a sterling punt returner but there are so many black wide receivers on the docket I doubt any team will become enamored with his resume.

Dalton Schoen of Kansas State similarly had an uneven season and I have never seen his name pop up on draft boards. JP Shohfi of Yale like Finke is also an accomplished punt returner and special teams player. Unfairly the Ivy League players ( especially white Ivy Leaguers) are an afterthought for most draft gurus so he has to overcome that built in bias in order to gain some traction.

I have 6- 7 round grades on all three but draft gurus could give a rat's ass what I think.

Those are the only three vaguely viable candidates I can come up with at the moment. It looks bleak folks. Next season doesn't look any better. The days of seeing some white wide receivers pop up in the draft look to be over for the foreseeable future. Which makes me sick.

Forget running backs. Don't expect any white running backs to be considered for the 2020 draft.

One year I compared the size of the arms of the Pro Bowl offensive tackles to those of non-Pro-Bowl starters. The Pro Bowlers had an average arm length less than the length of the other starters. The exact opposite of what one might expect based on the media reports.

It's officially scrub season - the early entry announcements are beginning to roll in and they are going to be 90% black and most of the players will fizzle out of the league in a few years if they are drafted at all.

Shea Patterson was invited to the Shrine game (he should get a senior bowl invite). Wazzu QB Anthony Gordon was invited to the senior bowl. My guess is that the senior bowl wants to see if the overrated Jordan Love out of Utah St declares before they decide to invite Patterson.

Burrow and Herbert are the two gems of this year's draft class at the QB position.

East-West Shrine Game Roster is at 120 - so it should be pretty much set. Oddly enough it looks to be around a quarter of the players invited are white - goes right along with the 25% mark we see every year during the draft. The Senior Bowl looks to be a little worse - not all invites have been announced yet.

QB class is interesting - we will no doubt see hype for Hurts to be a 1st round pick and if Tagiovola declares he will be a 1st rounder. Huntley and Kelly Bryan will probably be hyped up as well. Lots of black quarterbacks in the draft this year.

Patterson is probably a 4th rounder right now (bad fit in that offense), Stanley did not have a strong senior season in terms of improving his game, Lewerke was a huge disappointment so it those guys all have alot of work to do. I do not know much about Kevin Davidson from Princeton so the Shrine game will answer some questions there.

Anthony Gordon received an invite to the senior bowl - he has all the arm strength in the world but his mechanics are a little flawed - he throws flat footed. I still think he has some tools - he threw a ton in his only year as a starter for Wazzu.

Jake Luton out of Oregon St is my current sleeper - he quietly had a great year for the rebuilding Beavers. Size, arm strength and taking care of the ball are all plus attributes for him.

I cant remember a worse year than this one for offensive players and its not even close. Unless there is a Cooper Cupp like player hidden at a small school, there is zero chance of a WR making it to even the practice squad.

There have been plenty of bad years at WR and RB. 2015 was the worst draft we have witnessed.

Running back is a no brainer most years. However this year is much different for WR’s as there is no one actually worthy of getting drafted. Every other year there are talented kids out west, in the MAC, sprinkled across the Big Ten, and even the other Power 5’s. These kids get screwed in camp and dont get drafted but at least they are there. This year there is literally no one out there worthy of getting drafted nor any underclassmen that are slam dunks to blow up.

I think Finke may have a shot but yea this year in college was a down year for FBS receivers. I wouldn't say there are no draft worthy receivers - the caste system may deem them undraftable but that does not negate the fact their are talented white WRs in the FBS, FCS etc that get overlooked or ignored due to skin color.

Unfortunately DWF Upside paints an accurate portrait. If you scan the entire college football field a snap shot of white wide receivers in 2019 is the worst and sparsest I can ever recall. Unlike in previous years where there is a draft year drop off of sorts there were at least young reinforcements that could redress the issue down the road. Not the case now as the non senior class don't really feature clear cut NFL prospects for the moment. To me the most depressing story of this years college football season.

As Leonardfan says though there are a few white WRs ( including Finke) who rate by my standards but their draft prospects are remote. And tellingly the three I do rate I have as 6th or 7th round picks. Not a good sign.

Gordon is mid round right now. Luton may be a surprise sleeper - hoping he gets a senior bowl invite.

Eason if he declares is a big wild card as well.

Here are the guys with the best chance of getting drafted/picked up as UDFA at WR. Their are actually a decent number of Senior FCS WRs that have had good years but get ignored - Yale had JP Shohfi and Reed Klubnik both over the 1K mark (Shadowlight has covered Yale tremendously this year). How many of us knew who Gunner Olszewski was at this time last year?

The list above is pretty comprehensive. I think Finke has a long shot chance and Shohfi and perhaps Klubnik from Yale might find a seam (no pun intended) but most likely no one will get drafted. Along with some small school players listed above there is the Idaho State duo of Michael Dean (awfully small) and ex baseball player Mitch Gueller.

Finke and Shofhi are accomplished special teams players so that helps their cause but it will be a tough uphill climb.

They can push the agenda all they want. You can't do what Lamar does game after game as your older. He is already banged up from the last game. He is probable to play thursday night but the effects of
the season are starting to build up. If the Ravens keep winning expect them to rest Lamar Jackson alot down the stretch. He isn't in high school or college no more and father time gets tougher every year! This is exactly why this style will never last for a decade or longer. Too many injuries and father time slows down even the best of athletes. You can't run fast forever. What does he have after that. Jackson is a very poor to mediocre passer on his best day.
