Bringing back nearly all of its starters from last year the Men of Yale kickoff their 147th season at the historic 105 year old Yale Bowl today. Under 8th year Head Coach Tony Reno the Eli’s are picked to finish first in the preseason Ivy media poll. This year Yale is projected to start 15 Scholar Athletes with numerous regular contributors on the 2 and 3 deep.

Key players to watch for include: Walter Payton Award Watchlist All Ivy Senior WR Reed Klubnik. He will be paired with Senior WR & Team Captain J.P. Shohfi; together they form the best receiving duo in the Ivy.

Senior QB Kurt Rawlings returns to lead the offense; but keep an eye out for talented Soph QB Griffin O’Connor, who won last year’s Ivy League Rookie of the Year while filling in for an injured Rawlings.

Snow Plow Alert!! O-Line is anchored by NFL Prospect Senior LG Dieter Eiselen, & Senior C Sterling Strother.

Super Athletic Junior TE J.J. Howland returns to be a major factor in the Offense.

Caste Football favorite and 2017 Ivy Rookie of the Year Junior RB Zane Dudek returns as the co-starting RB. He looks to bounce back from the injury that derailed his Sophomore season. Keep an eye out for Soph RB Elliot McElwain, who had an impressive Spring practice.

Starting Senior DT’s Spencer Matthaei & Josh Keeler will be holding the line, keep an eye out for impressive Air Force transfer DT Patrick Nauert to make a big impact as the season progresses.

Starting Senior MLB Ryan Burke and Junior OLB John Dean will be on patrol, and with so many 2 & 3 deep White LB’s rotating in situationally Yale will be frequently fielding a Snow Patrol on many downs.

With 907 wins the Bulldogs are the fourth winningest team in college football. The Son’s of Eli continue 147 years of winning football history and tradition today. Go Yale!!

Great post! I know we're all rooting big time for Zane Dudek, who should have had recruiters from the major programs pounding on his door day and night to offer him a scholarship.

Thanks for the Yale write up - might have to go see them while Dudek is there. Also welcome to the forum.

Yes kudos for an impressive first post. Dynamic actually. Ha. Couldn't have picked a finer topic than Yale football. I love Ivy League football. It is much better than advertised.

Might not see him on the field this year but they have a true freshman speed merchant in WR # 86 Joey Felton. Felton isn't big (5'9" 175) but he is a water bug. Had fastest 55M indoor in Maryland. He can scoot.

Speaking of RB McElwain he had a 7-65 stat line in their opening win against Holy Cross this Saturday. As noted elsewhere super stud Dudek nearly had 100 yards.
