Keep an eye on their stud linebacker this year

Utah State junior LB David Woodward sits at No. 13 on PFF's top 50 college players of 2019.
PFF notes that Woodward (6'2/230) was by far their highest-rated returning FBS linebacker, which isn't surprising if you've seen his box scores. Last year, Woodward recorded 134 tackles across 12 games and added two interceptions and three pass deflections to top it off. If he can just post 75% of those numbers in 2019, he'll likely declare for the 2020 NFL Draft. Consider Woodward an intriguing prospect who will need to prove it with athletic testing when he enters the pre-draft process

Thanks for highlighting LB David Woodward Claimjumper.

Look for him to follow fellow Aggie Kyler Fackrell into the NFL. They are similar in the way they can disrupt an offense with their agility, speed and instincts.

Fackrell, like Woodward, was on a similar upward trajectory but he tore his ACL in the first game of his junior season. It took a few years for him to find his footing but he has recovered and had his break out season with the Packers by recording double digit sacks in 2018.

Woodward could end up as a first round draft pick after this season.

Safety Braxton Gunther is battling for a starting job right now so he’s also a potential starter. He had a pick 6 in the spring game. He should get a fair shot since USU’s new safety coach is former Wisconsin safety Michael Caputo (2012-2015).
