2019 Rutgers Scarlett Knights

Since 2005 Rutgers has started 6, 5, 8, 9, 11, 8, 4, 5, 4, 8, 6, 6, 3 and 5 whites. They are projected to start 5 white athletes in 2019.

Rutgers was terrible last year (1-11) - they somehow manage to get affletes drafted every year for some odd reason. Artur Sitkowski was a big time recruiting win but struggled mightily on the field as a true freshman. Texas Tech transfer McClane Carter might end up getting some snaps and could end up taking the posiiton over. TE Travis Vokolek transferred to Nebraska.

Players to watch include TE Matt Alaimo, WR Hunter Hayek (possible 3rd/4th WR), WR Tyler Hayek, WR Cole Murphy, DL Brednan Bordner, DL Robin Jutwreten

They also have an RB Parker Day - looks to have had a very good high school career. Perhaps he will get some carries this year. From his bio:

Last year Sitkowski was probably the worst QB I’ve ever seen, I felt bad for the other quarterbacks on the team because I’m sure they would’ve completed over 50% of their passes and thrown more than 4 TD’s and less than 18 INT. I dug into his high school stats and he never threw for more than 1500 yards in any season and had 5 TD’s to 10 INT’s his junior year, while completing 50% of his passes. I don’t mean to bash him I just don’t understand how he was a highly rated QB with poor stats that translated about the same to college. I hope McLane Carter wins the job, I just don’t ever see Sitkowski ever being a starting caliber QB but I hope he can prove me wrong.

Rutgers is a mess. They just botched a deal to sign Greg Schiano. Who to his credit at least had a plan to make Rutgers competitive once again, but the University couldn't meet his requests.

Looks like they figured it out. Schiano will return to Rutgers. The only good thing he has ever done as a coach was get Josh Freeman out of the league. I still remember how Brian Leonard brought Rutgers back to legitimacy in the mid 00s and Schiano screwed him over by opting to go all in on Ray Rice.

Steve Edelson, a columnist with the Asbury Park Press, has written an article stating that the Rutgers Athletic Dept. has run up a $400 million deficit
since the 2003-2004 school year. What a waste of money. It looks like there's no way out of it either.

Schiano picked up where he left off in terms of recruiting pretty much no whites in his first recruiting class. Vedral becomes the best QB on the roster. Sitkowski has been a huge disappointment so I'd like to see Noah win the job and have a strong season.

Former Nebraska redshirt junior QB Noah Vedral transferred to Rutgers as a graduate.
This marks the second transfer of Vedral's career. He began his collegiate adventure at UCF before transferring over to Nebraska (tagging along with HC Scott Frost with that move). In Lincoln this past season, the 6-foot-1, 200-pound signal-caller threw for 418 yards (65.4 percent completions) sans any touchdowns or interceptions across six games played. Moving on to Rutgers, now, Vedral will compete with Johnny Langan and Artur Sitkowski for starting work once preseason camps boot up.

Exciting news and since he finished his classes at Nebraska he has two years left as a graduate transfer and will not have to sit out a year.

I remember when he started a game last season for Nebraska and it was the first time in a long while my old love of Nebraska started to rise up in me again.

If he becomes the starter it makes Rutgers a lot more appealing. They have been a routine caste program for ages ( and stunk the whole time) now but even though their recent recruiting still leans in that direction I have detected a few promising developments. One example is brining in WR Brayden Fox for 2021.

Vedral is a terrific athlete with speed.
