2019 North Texas Mean Green

Since 2005, the Mean Green have started 13, 13, 7, 6, 5, 6, 7, 8, 6, 5, 6, 4, 6 and 3. They are projected to start 4 in 2019 but it wouldn't surprise me if the two white LBs are dropped on the depth chart prior to the start of the season.

North Texas is a great example of the phasing out of white athletes. The decline from 2005 to now is pretty asonishing considering how many white football players there are in the state of Texas. QB Mason Fine is of at least partial cherokee heritage so I have remove him as a projected white started.

Michael Lawrence is a stud, I’m hoping for another big season for him after a down year last year. Mason Fine is a pretty good quarterback so hopefully he can get Lawrence the ball a lot like he did in 2017. It helps that some of their top receivers went off to the NFL/graduation after last season. Lawrence had over 800 yards in 2017 so we know he can be a big time slot receiver.
