With being the local guy, I thought I should prematurely update the forum with the current 2019 Miami Dolphins roster.

The Dolphins made a significant improvement last season when they jumped from just 13 pale faces in 2017 (4 starters) to 21 pale faces (7 starters) in 2018.

This season, things might get a little interesting under the new head coach Brian Flores. As you may know, Mr. Flores came from NE and his offensive coordinator is former NE QB coach Chad O’ Shea. Thus far, Brian Flores has taken a no B.S/straight shooter approach with the team and with the media. In fact, there are reports that he literally trolled WR Kenny Stills at a recent practice due to his social media comments on the owner (((Stephen Ross))).

Mr. Flores has also been somewhat encouraging with his comments on the undrafted rookie RB Patrick Laird, stating “He does everything right. He’s earned some more opportunities and he’s taken advantage of them.”

With that being said, don’t let the high # fool you. I anticipate many heartbreaking cuts as I’m really rooting for RB Patrick Laird and WR Trenton Irwin to find their way on the 53-man roster.

I have to say the Dolphins stole Josh Rosen for only a low second round draft pick. Despite his less than stellar first season he could still develop into a franchise quarterback. It will be interesting to compare his career to Kyler Murray's.

Starters: Potentially 8. Kiko Alonso was set to start but he has been traded to the Saints. It is possible Andrew Van Ginkel or newly acquired Vince Biegel will start in his place.

Storylines to look forward to:

Will the new local fan favorite RB Patrick Laird receive opportunities to run the ball this season? If it happens, it should be a nice optic seeing Patrick Laird running the ball while FB Chandler Cox leads the way.

Will the freakish athletic Mike Gesicki have a breakout season? If you recall, this 6’6 alpha male posted a 4.54 40 at the combine and a 41 1/2 inch vertical leap. There’s no reason why this man can not become as elite as a Kelce, Kittle or Ertz.

How will QB Josh Rosen perform when his # is called upon?

Bucky, Van Ginkel is gone -- banished to the "White Ghetto", also known as the injured reserve. Every year these crappy NFL teams go into a panic around cut down day. They start worrying about how to retain players they like, but can't keep because they have too many over-hyped upsiders at the same position. Invariably, they always banish a few to injured reserve, to retain their rights -- even if the players are not severely injured. And usually it's whites that get banished to injured reserve. Only positive for these whites, is they are paid for a full season. Hey, perhaps Andrew can buy a nice house in Wisconsin and few cars just for hanging around with trainers for 4 months?

I assume it's possible Van Ginkel can return from the IR, as teams are allowed 2 returns. In normal circumstances, I'd say a white like Van Ginkel would have no shot at returning. But as FD noted above, Dolphins could be flirting with 0-16. Why would they even consider using a designated return on a veteran upsider?

I would rather see the Dolphins win some games where Patrick Laird gets some carries. It would not bode well for him being a free-agent third string rb on the worst team in the NFL. The assumption among some DWFs being that Miami is so bad they have a white tailback on their team.

The best thing going in Miami's favor as far as avoiding a winless season is they get to play the Jets twice, who without Sam Darnold may be as bad as Miami and not much better when he returns. The current betting line this week is the Cowboys by 21.5 points over the Dolphins and the Patriots 22.5 points over the Jets, startlingly high spreads. RB Mark Walton has been suspended four games for violating the NFL's conduct and substance abuse policy,

Miami will turn to Kalen Ballage to again be their lead back during Walton's absence.

Rookie running backs Patrick Laird and Myles Gaskin will see increased playing time during Walton's suspension. The two have not received any carries so far this season.

Pretty good news today, as Andrew Van Ginkel was designated for return. The unfortunate part is, Van Ginkel has been able to practice for several weeks and should've been back already -- was first eligible to play last Sunday @ Indianapolis. Reason he had to wait so long, is because the rebuilding Dolphins did, in fact, debate whether they should bring back several "upsider" vets (including Aqib Talib) over the young Van Ginkel and did consider "redshirting" him, even though he is healthy.

Van Ginkel's presence now increases the number of white defenders on the Miami Dolphins by 100%. Andrew was one of six white linebackers selected in round 5 last spring. Three were immediate starters Holcomb, Connelly and Cashman. Connelly, who would've undoubtedly been named to the All-Rookie team, was injured early in the season. Cashman, who was also doing well, was shut down at the mid-point of the season due to a reoccurring shoulder issue. Hopefully he isn't another Alex Anzalone (always injured).

The Dolphins also signed uber athletic small school DB turned LB Jake Carlock. Apparently all of the upside on the Giants roster caused them to cut him even though he played very well in preseason and hung around on their PS for some of the season.

Good news regarding Van Ginkel @Truthteller ! Let's hope he gets some playing time during 2nd half of the season. It seems Vince Biegel has established himself among this Dolphins D, be great to see AVG on the field as well.

Hey Truthteller, don't steal my thunder, I've already dubbed Ballage the worst running back in league history.

Look how remarkably consistent he's been this season:

Week 1: 5 carries for -1 yards, -0.2 average yards per carry
Week 2: 4 carries for 6 yards, 1.50 average
Week 3: 8 carries for 17 yards, 2.13 average
Week 4: 2 carries for 7 yards, 3.50 average
Week 6: 3 carries for 7 yards, 2.33 average
Week 7: 3 carries for 7 yards, 2.33 average
Week 8: 3 carries for 8 yards, 2.67 average
Week 9: 7 carries for 19 yards, 2.71 average
Week 10: 20 carries for 43 yards, 2.15 average
Week 11: 9 carries for 9 yards, 1.0 average
Week 12: 7 carries for 13 yards, 1.86 average

Total: 71 carries for 135 yards, 1.9 average, with his "best" game being when he averaged 3.50 yards.

Add to that he has hands of stone with 14 receptions for just 63 yards, 4.5 average yards per catch. And that's out of 23 targets, so his average yards per target is a marvelous 2.8.

He's unimaginably bad, and unimaginably bad every single game, yet is still the starter with Patrick Laird yet to get a real opportunity.

Don, wanted to respond to you yesterday, but decided I would do little research before I posted. I also moved your quote here from the Week 12 thread, so the info wouldn't be swept away come Week 13. Anyhow, Ballage is having the worst rushing season by a running back with at least 60 carries in quite some time. I went back to find the worst rushers since 2009 and only someone named Deji Karim and former Packer James Starks were anywhere close to Ballage. Both had less carries that particular season.

For some perspective, Ballage will need to run for 7 yards on his first attempt Sunday to get to a 2.0 average. He'd need to run for 81 yards on his first attempt Sunday to get to a 3.0 average. Ballage should reach 100 carries this season. If he doesn't get to 2.0 yards at that point, we could be looking at a "historic season" for him. In baseball there is the "Mendoza Line", named after white-Mexican Mario Mendoza who batted below .200 for the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 1970's. Could we eventually have a "Ballage Line" in football, runners who average less than 2 yards per attempt?

Excellent research, Truthteller, that must have taken quite a while to compile. I had no idea there were so many wretched starting RBs (wretched = sub 3.0 yards per rush average) in the past decade. If you ask random DWFs to name some terrible starting running backs from the past decade I bet a popular response would be Toby Gerhart. But even in the one season Gerhart started -- with Jax in 2014 behind a terrible offensive line -- he averaged 3.2 and in spite of all that went wrong for him that season he still finished his NFL career with a 4.2 ypc average, which is above average. Yet his 2014 season effectively ended his career as he had just 20 carries in '15 and then was out of the league.

Kalen Ballage update, maybe the final one depending on the severity of his injury. He finished yesterday's game with 3 carries for ZERO yards. His tally this year is now 74 carries for 135 yards, a sterling 1.82 YPC average!! But hey, I can understand the Dolphins' reasoning in using him over "The Intern" Patrick Laird. Look at this guy Laird, he looks slow and his feet aren't even moving! That Ballage guy though, he LOOKS likes he beez a playa!

This is one of the more anti-White posts I’ve ever seen written by the cucks and jews over at Rotoworld.

Patrick Laird rushed 10 times for five yards and a touchdown and caught 4-of-5 targets for 43 yards in Week 13 against the Eagles.
Laird was forced into an expanded role with Kalen Ballage leaving with a leg injury in the first half. He out-touched Myles Gaskin, and managed to convert a red-zone carry inside the five-yard line for a touchdown. Laird continued to give Miami nothing on the ground and has the looks of a plodder. We're not sure why Miami hasn't given Gaskin, who has been much better on a per-carry basis than Laird, more run but this looks like a two-back committee going forward. With Ballage facing an extended absence, Laird and Gaskin are both waiverable in Dynasty leagues.

So these Tiny Hats are pigeonholing Laird as an ineffective runner after 16 sporadic carries over the last month? And a plodder too just by looking at him. Meanwhile Ballage was given 74 carries to prove he sucks while averaging far less than PL. Myles Gaskins who they pine for, with his “much better” 4.3 yards per carry, has a whopping 7 carries to create that average. Hardly any sample size to draw their sweeping conclusions, but par for the course from people who lie and slander Whites so naturally that it really leaves you thunderstruck.

Was just watching NFL Network's fantasy football show, and again Laird was being called "The Intern." Adam Rank, one of the two Whites on this broadcast (along with four blacks!), was mumbling gibberish about how Laird's nickname came from some Robert DeNiro movie, yeah right, in a segment called "That Helps No One," in which obscure players who scored and thus didn't help any fantasy owners are shown while everyone yells in unison "that helps no one."

And yes, the media dominance of the Magical Race has now extended even to fantasy football, as fantasy is, for better or worse, about 98% a White guy thing.

This isn't some random, no-name writer at Bleacher Report, Weenieworld, SBNation or whatever DWF site? This is a longtime, respected NFL Insider, who frequently breaks huge NFL stories before ESPN or NBC does. He probably would not be writing this, if scouts or executives didn't reaffirm to him Patrick clearly possesses NFL talent. As I noted before, his receiving ability (both out of the backfield and lining up at slot receiver and flanker) will give him a chance to stick and possibly do some very good things -- running and receiving.

I can't get enough Patrick Laird these days. I can watch him and Ryan Fitzpatrick do their thing all day long. They've become a fun part of Dolphins games in a season in which very little was expected.

As far as Zach Zenner is concerned, what a train-wreck of a season, coming off an unexpected nice finish to the 2018 season? Had he gone to the Minnesota Vikings, who really wanted him, he might've really went on to be an entrenched all-purpose NFL 2nd or 3rd tailback, who could rush for 400 to 600 yards per season, catch balls and play special teams. Instead, he appeared in 5 games for three teams and did next to nothing. Zach is already 28, which is sort of old for a NFL tailback. In order to re-invigorate his NFL career he might need to go out on limb and do something drastic, like enter the XFL's next draft? Rumor is a second Supplemental Draft, which will include CFL players looking to play in the U.S. and some select NFL vets, will be held in a couple weeks? No way around it, he'll need to do something drastic to change the current narrative. Simply going from NFL try-out to try-out won't work. Fatt Matt and Bob Quinn (Lions GM) really screwed ZZ. And they may not come out unscathed, as both could be fired after a year the Lions simply could not run the football.

As bad as things have been Zenner is a NFL veteran where the minimum salary is 50K or so per game before taxes. Just hanging on rosters for 5 games has made him double what he could earn in the XFL and probably more than double what he could earn in the CFL.

With his fallback plan of medical school why put his brain and body through the AAA level of football with no guarantees of getting back to the NFL on a permanent basis, I know I wouldn't do this....

I don't disagree with anything you wrote above, WIR. However, Zach seems to have an insatiable love for the game of football. He could've retired after the back issues he had in 2018 and all the DWF's would've said he made the right choice, considering his career options. Instead, he gutted it out, lifted weights like a madman and had a strong second half of of the '18 season. So much so that Minnesota really wanted him and he could play with his best friend (in the NFL) Adam Thielen, in the state both were born and raised. He made the wrong choice returning to Detroit. Fearing injuries or wear-and-tear on his body or brain, Zach could've retired this fall when Fatt Matt screwed him over, yet every week he was seemingly in one or two cities "working-out" for a NFL team. He tried out for at least 7 teams we know of?

He could probably make more money going to the CFL. But if he did that, he couldn't jump back to the NFL right away, could he? He'd have to stay in Canada for at least one season, perhaps two? And CFL seasons are more like 6 months, considering pre-season and workouts.

I'm not talking money. I'm talking Zach's love of the game and desire to play in the NFL again. XFL is just a 10 week season -- basically just three months. ZZ could go there, play real well and get some confidence in hopes of impressing NFL teams and returning. Again, I'm talking about his desire to get back to where he was the final day of 2018 season, when he nearly ran for 100 yards @ Green Bay. During and after that Green Bay game, Zach looked like a ten year old that got every toy he wanted on Christmas Day. It's well documented that Zach has amazing career options outside of football. But he works just as hard (or much harder) attempting to get back to the NFL than a functionally illiterate athlete who has almost zero future off the field.

Plus as much as Zach loves the game, why wouldn't he want to post 100 yard games in a league where every game is televised nationally on ABC, Fox and ESPN? If Zach really wants to play in the NFL, a three month stint in the new league could really help.
